Spacious holiday home

We have been to Winterton many times and love it but this is our first stay in Sanderlings. The house is ideally located a short walk to the beach and is very close to the village shop, chip shop and pub. The garden is secure and was a good size for our dog. The beds were comfy and the house had everything we needed for a lovely family holiday.

Great location

Had a lovely week here. Very close to all the villages amenities. Short walk to the beach. Well equipped cottage. Fully enclosed garden which was great for our dog. Spent a lot of time in the conservatory relaxing. Would recommend sun loungers in the garden. The two sun chairs that are there are very low and hard to get out of if you have mobility issues. There is a large outside table and chairs for dining out. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Filthy House

The house is big it was also not clean, the kitchen being very grubby. Furniture is uncomfortable, especially shabby settee in conservatory. Only 5 knives supplied for 6 person house! Kitchen needs a deep clean & general furniture update

Perfect location, perfect break

Perfect location and great for exploring Norfolk or could easily have not moved the car for our stay! Walking to the beach was amazing, please note access wouldn’t be ideal for some! Can easily walk to other beaches, we didn’t due to the heat but did short drives to explore them and was no disappointed, particularly enjoyed our seal watching along the coast. Easy access to the broads after a short drive. The house was a great space and ideal for us and our 2dogs. The house would benefit from a deep clean and decor refresh but this didn’t impact on our stay. We wouldn’t hesitate to return to the area or to the house! We had a great stay, thank you.

Fantastic stay

The house was excellent, the downstairs layout made it perfect for a family trip as it was basically open plan (perfect for our Christmas getaway). The finish in the house was also excellent with good quality furniture and equipment throughout. The pub is seconds away and the beach/dunes just a few minutes stroll. Highly recommend.

Disappointing

The location of the property is excellent. Short walk to both pub and shop. The two bathrooms looked to have been recently refurbished and provided good facilities. However, the rest of the property was disappointing. The beds were not comfortable with lumpy mattresses and only thin 7.5 tog duvets provided. No spare blankets or duvets provided. We used throws from downstairs for extra warmth. In the kitchen, although there was plenty of crockery which was well organised they rest of the kitchen equipment was stored randomly and we had to wash some of it as it was dirty. The boiler in the utility room had a dreadful smell which during the first couple of days permeated the rest of the property. It wasn't until a repeesentative from Winterton Cottages came out we discovered the wheelie bin had been placed in front of the flue preventing the fumes escaping. There was insufficient seating in both conservatory and the lounge area. If the property had 7 occupants ( it sleeps 7) it would not be possible to sit together. Also in both areas lighting was poor.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. We're pleased you enjoyed Sanderlings' excellent location, although we're sorry that other aspects of your stay didn't meet your expectations. Regarding the bedding, the duvets provided are 7.5 tog, and there are additional blankets and throws on the beds, as well as full central heating throughout the property. Had you let us know during your seven-night stay that you were feeling cold, we would have been very happy to help. We're sorry if some of the kitchen equipment wasn't put away as expected or wasn't as clean as it should have been. Unfortunately, items can sometimes be returned to different cupboards by previous guests, but we will certainly raise the cleanliness issue with our housekeeping team. With regard to the smell in the utility room, we responded on the same day you contacted us and visited the property to investigate. Although we couldn't detect any smell ourselves, we did notice that the wheelie bin had been positioned directly in front of the boiler flue, so we moved it away as a precaution. The seating arrangements in both the lounge and conservatory are clearly shown in the property photographs, with a sofa and two armchairs in each room. The website description also explains the bedroom configurations, including the small double bed, and specifically states that the maximum adult occupancy is six. We're sorry that Sanderlings wasn't quite what you had hoped for, but we do appreciate your feedback and are always happy to address any concerns brought to our attention during a stay.

Comfortable stay with the dogs

Sanderlings is bright and spacious. We immediately felt comfortable. The location is perfect and the friends we were meeting up with were envious of our accommodation

Ideal cottage

Perfect size cottage for us a family of 5 and one large dog. The kitchen had everything you need if you want to cook at home. The bathrooms were all really clean. Beds were comfy too. Ideal location to the little shop, pub, fish and chip shop and café. Then a 5 minute walk to the beach which is just ideal with children.

Group weekend.

We stayed in a group of 5 plus a dog, as in the description the third bedroom has a 4’ bed so we had plenty of room. Not sure if this would suit 2 adults. The house has a downstairs layout that ideally suits holiday breaks & the access via the utility room allows you to bring dogs in & clean them up (we had rain). Very nice coffee machine. Would look to book in warmer months as the conservatory & the garden are a big plus.

Don’t stay here

The only good things about this house is the location, garden and shower! It didn’t look as if it had a good clean for a while, the coffee machine had a very very rank coffee pod still in it, the furniture in the lounge is very uncomfortable, the sofa in the conservatory should be condemned it’s threadbare and you can feel the springs through the what’s left of the fabric! The mattress is really cheap and very uncomfortable. The towels were thin and hard well past their best. And just top it all off you can smell the fumes from the boiler in the utility room. I’m surprised Winterton Cottages gave this house in their books!!

Our latest trip to Winterton

This was our 3rd stay at Sanderlings and as before we had a lovely time. Accommodation is spacious and comfortable. The location is perfect for access to the dunes and beach as well as all the local amenities. Secure garden is just perfect for our dog. A small negative is that the windows could do with a clean but maybe that's just me being picky.

July in Sanderlings

We love the location of Sanderlings in the centre of Winterton on Sea. The house has been thoughtfully decorated and has a mid century feel. I love the doors! The house is well laid out with space to be together and apart. The garden has been updated since the photos were taken and is a great place to relax and let the dogs play. The kitchen units are a bit tired, but the kitchen is well equipped. The coffee machine is a definite bonus. We would definitely stay at Sanderlings again.

Family Break

Stayed for a week as a family of 6 plus 3 dogs - location perfect - the cottage could do with a deep clean as it is very dirty in places and there is a very strange smell as soon as you go through the front door and although advertised with a dish washer there was not one there. Comfort of the two larger beds upstairs is not good could do with renewing and the furniture in the living area is very uncomfortable - if these things were improved I would have no hesitation in booking again but without the changes I would not as it was very uncomfortable.

A lovely family weekend for 6 a s 2 dogs

Sanderlings is beautifully prepared and equipped. The decor was fresh and original. The kitchen and utility room are equipped with modern easy to use machines - though are missing a dishwasher. (But there is a wine fridge and washing machine). No problem; the grandchildren were keen and enjoyed helping with chores. The bedrooms are well decorated and in perfect order. The stairs - a bit steepish for the more senior member of the party - and the landing are well lit including with a modern and ingenious auto floor lighting system which ensured safety at all hours. The large conservatory adjoins the comfortable living area which is generously furnished with a multi-source wide screen TV and comfortable chairs and occasional table. Our 2 larg-ish labradors loved the secure garden and access - after inspection - to the conservatory where covered furniture provided comfort and a degree of style. In all, a lovely, peaceful, people- and dog-friendly weekend in.a modern, well-equipped family home. Thank you to all involved in enabling a great long weekend. Even the seals in the sea and on the beach seemed in good heart. We could not have asked for more (except perhaps a dishwasher!).
