Curlew Corner - a cottage that sleeps 2 guests in 1 bedroom
WE ARE DELIGHTED TO INTRODUCE CURLEW CORNER TO OUR PORTFOLIO
Curlew Corner is a superbly finished holiday cottage forming part of a residential conversion of a traditional highland barn. The cottage in on the owner's deer farm and ensures peace and quiet but still with easy access to all that Perthshire has to offer. This is a perfect spot for a base from which to explore all of Highland Scotland. The location is close to the popular towns of Dunkeld and Crieff, both of which have an excellent selection of restaurants, Art Cafes, independent shops and Art galleries and of course, the opportunity to try whisky tasting fresh from the cask!
The careful conversion of the original building makes the most of all its features. The “upside down” layout ensures that you have the best of the views from the upstairs sitting room across the adjoining fields to the distant mountains. The accommodation has been finished to a luxury standard and includes a spacious King size bedroom with French doors to a private patio. There is a spacious “Jack and Jill” bathroom which is perfect for a relaxing soak after a busy day out exploring.
The local area is an excellent all year round destination with regular social events and activities including farmers markets, Highland Games, traditional Scottish music festivals and for the active, walking festivals. The many tourist attractions nearby include Glenturret Distillery at Crieff, Scotland's oldest working distillery with the added attraction of its Michelin-starred Glenturret Lalique Restaurant which offers a dynamic selection of eclectic seasonal dishes and Bar Lunches.
The opportunities for outdoor pursuits for all ages and abilities are right on your doorstep. The choice ranges from a leisurely stroll along the Tay at Dunkeld or a more strenuous hill walk up Carn Liath, the lowest of the three munros in the Beinn a Ghlo range. The numerous cycling/mountain biking routes also mean that you can pick a different route or challenge for everyday of the week! The variety is almost endless and water sports can be enjoyed on the numerous lochs and rivers including sailing at Loch Tay, or canyoning and rafting on the river Tay, so there is never an adventure too far away.
For golfers there are more than enough courses to allow you to have at least two games a day for a week without a repeat. The nearest is the Dunkeld and Birnam Golf Club, widely regarded as one of the most picturesque golf courses in Highland Perthshire. Officially opened in 1922 by Her Grace, The Duchess of Atholl, the course has a magnificent heathland setting on a hillside above the historic town of Dunkeld
Winter sports can't be forgotten or overlooked and you can hone your skiing and snowboarding skills at Glenshee Ski Centre which is only just over an hour away. The different challenges at The Nevis Range and Cairngorm Centres are less that a 2 hour drive away from the cottage
Curlew Corner is in outstanding natural beauty area with a wide range of places from which to savour the view, not to be missed Queen's View over Loch Tummel (named after Queen Isabel, wife of Robert the Bruce). A trip to the Dunkeld woods and forests should be a must on your to do list to see the stunning landscapes and trees, reputed to be the tallest in the UK. Dunkeld is about the most central place in Scotland and day trips to a great range of places are possible. The holiday itinerary can easily include visits to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth, Stirling, Glencoe, St Andrews and even Inverness. Whatever your interests, be they the great outdoors or Scotland's fabulous history and heritage you are sure to have a memorable holiday.
