Town: Llanymynech is a village straddling the border between Montgomeryshire/Powys, Wales, and Shropshire, England, about nine miles north of the Welsh town of Welshpool. The village is on the banks of the river Vyrnwy, and the Montgomery Canal passes through it. The border runs for the most part down the centre of the village's main street, with the eastern half of the village in England and the western half in Wales. Bound by the River Vyrnwy to the south and enormous limestone cliffs to the north. The cliffs are the quarried face of Llanymynech Hill, and the views from the top are magnificent. Approximately 17 miles away is the historic town of Shrewsbury, certainly worth a visit all year round.
