Swallows Rest – Laid-Back Luxury for 6, Tucked Away in 12 Acres of Cornish Calm

Swallows Rest offers a stylish and spacious sanctuary for up to six guests, with three beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms. Two feature sumptuous king-size beds, while the third has a super-king that can be configured as twin beds on request – all dressed in luxurious cotton bedding and soft velvet bedspreads for a restful, indulgent night’s sleep.

Each bedroom opens directly onto the outside – perfect for stargazing under clear Cornish skies or enjoying a peaceful sunrise coffee surrounded by birdsong.

At the heart of the home is a light-filled open-plan kitchen and dining area. With its vaulted ceilings, statement lighting, and floor-to-ceiling bi-fold doors framing panoramic countryside views, it’s a space that invites slow mornings, family feasts, and relaxed evenings by the woodburner.

The kitchen is fully equipped with premium appliances – including a wine cooler, dishwasher, and breakfast bar – creating the perfect space for cooking and gathering in comfort and style.

Step outside to discover your private terrace, designed for unforgettable moments: soak in the hot tub, fire up the pizza oven or BBQ, and dine alfresco as the sun sets. A fire pit adds a little magic to the evenings, while the hot outdoor shower is perfect after sandy beach days.

For extra fun, the shared games room offers table tennis, table football, and a Chesterfield sofa for lounging while the kids play (or the wetsuits dry!).There is a collection of wetsuits that can be used by guests and a few body boards.

What I Love About Swallows Rest
Swallows Rest was a real labour of love. We designed and built it ourselves – every beam, tile, and finish has been carefully chosen to create a space that feels calm, welcoming, and close to nature. I love how the big windows bring the outside in, how the rooms flow effortlessly into the landscape, and how the hot tub is perfectly placed to take in the view. It’s a place made for slowing down and truly switching off.

What I Love About the Area
Living here on the Lizard Peninsula feels like a gift – it’s wild, peaceful, and completely unspoilt. I love walking our dog Dodger along the coast path or exploring quiet creeks and hidden beaches. I spend a lot of time cycling the quiet country lanes or fishing for mackerel and seabass from the rocks. And when it’s time to refuel? We’re lucky to have incredible local food – the Danish pastries and bacon flatbreads at Flora Café are legendary, and the pasties at Gear Farm really are the best in Cornwall.
