Set in the pretty village of Crantock, with its historic pub, it is a 500-metre stroll down to the vast expanse of sand, backed by rolling dunes. The family-friendly beach is a popular spot for swimming and surfing, with lifeguards in the season, a surf school and watersports kit for hire. You’ll find a wealth of peaceful country walks and magnificent coastal views along the South West Coast Path. Newquay (3.5 miles) is renowned for its surfing beaches and also home to the Blue Reef Aquarium, where you can view close-ups of exotic and Cornish marine life. Other local attractions include the delightful vintage Lappa Valley Steam Railway and the National Trust’s Trerice, a small, beautifully preserved Elizabethan house set in a charming garden (both 4.5 miles).
