Orford, a charming village just 2 miles away, is renowned for its historic castle, which dates to the 12th century, keen sailors and for seafood enthusiasts, with its oyster fishery and smokehouse. Its location along the River Ore and proximity to Orford Ness Nature Reserve make it an attractive spot for twitchers and walkers. Woodbridge (12 miles) is a delightful market town known for its scenic riverside setting along the River Deben. The town's historic streets are lined with independent shops, restaurants, and cafes, offering a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Woodbridge is also a gateway to the nearby Sutton Hoo archaeological site, which holds treasures from the Anglo-Saxon era, adding a touch of history to its charm. Tucked away on the outskirts of the village, this wooden-clad holiday home is the rural retreat you have been looking for. Set over two floors and offering a reverse-living layout, it features wonderful views across the fields and over the River Alde. The ground floor hosts the two bedrooms; one king-size and one twin, with use of a shared family bathroom. There is also a lovely reading room with a plush sofa, a desk for remote working and a small library of books to revel in. Heading upstairs, you’ll find an open-plan space featuring the lounge/kitchen/diner. The kitchen is fully fitted with integrated appliances and an island for preparing delicious meals, as well as a dining area with seating for all. At the other end of the space is the living area, which has two sofas, a Smart TV and a wood burner to keep you warm during the chillier months. The garden features a small patio with a dining table and chairs. Pockets of wildflowers grow alongside the longer patches of grass, whilst a mown path meanders along the fence edge to views across the fields.
