Ashen is a small and unspoiled Suffolk village surrounded by gently rolling farmland, quiet lanes, and ancient hedgerows, a haven for walkers, cyclists, and nature lovers. Just a short drive away is the bustling town of Sudbury, known for its vibrant market, riverside meadows, and connections to the famous painter Thomas Gainsborough. Visit Gainsboroughâs House to explore his legacy, or enjoy a stroll along the scenic River Stour. Further afield, guests can explore the beautiful medieval village of Lavenham, one of the best-preserved in England, with its timber-framed buildings, artisan shops, and cosy tea rooms. The Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, affectionately known as âConstable Country,â is also within easy reach and offers a wealth of walking and cycling routes through some of Englandâs most iconic landscapes.
