Katopodis Mansion ligger bara 50 meter från Vathys vattnet och dess privata plats undviker enstaka rörelse i byn men ger enkel åtkomst till Vathys affärer och tavernor. The villa is superbly located in the centre of the town with a lovely view over the harbour, very convenient for lots of tavernas, bars and shops. The only downside to the location is the smell at times of grilling from a couple of the nearby tavernas - not ideal if you are a vegan!As the description states, it is a “traditional” villa and as such some of the interior needs updating, however the kitchen and the bedrooms are well equipped. Air con in the main bedroom is very effective. The outdoor area is great with a good sized pool and great sun beds. The outdoor dining equipment does need updating. The villa was immaculately clean, had everything that we needed for a relaxing fortnight and we were very impressed with the standard of housekeeping twice a week. Communication with the owner was minimal, but we were given enough information to locate the villa and gain access with no issues. Overall, the villa is good value for money in a great location on the best island in Greece.

Nice location, poorly described property

We chose this property because it ticked a lot of boxes. As it was described when booked: a spa / hot tub, high speed Wifi, Smart TV with satellite & cable, a DVD player, and view to island of Skorpios. None of these things were there or available for use. Several communications with the owner via VRBO messaging, or direct with owner, proved frustrating or useless. The pictures of the house outside and inside were reasonably accurate, although the downstairs living area is much darker than it appears in photos. The general condition of the house inside is OK but dated with updates and repairs needed. The TV was not connected to any form of cable or satellite, not even to an antenna. After 4 days, antenna was connected. The owner thought a bathtub with hot water was the same thing as a hot tub. The DVD player was in a drawer, was 15 years old, and didn't connect to anything. BBQ wasn't functioning. We recommended to the owner that he update the listing to reflect what is actually at the property, to avoid disappointment for future visitors. We were frustrated with the lack of help from VRBO. After initial contact, their communication was via auto-generated computer message. Best thing was the location, although it is a VERY steep pathway up from the harbour, and very steep stairs, so not suitable for anyone elderly or infirm. The pool and outdoor areas are nice. View to Skorpios is from top of stairs behind house. We liked Vathy. Won't use VRBO again in Greece.

Spacious property well located with better views than expected. Some help with how the property works would have been appreciated - e.g. the wi-fi code, how to get the cooker working. External areas could have done with a sweep.

Fantastic location just yards from the waterfront and many tavernas to choose from. Meganisi is a peaceful delight. Highly recommended

Great villa

Clean. Excellent location near to many tavernas. Air conditioning doesn't work well in 2nd bedroom. (Remote control doesn't respond well) Window in lounge above TV doesn't close. Dvd player advertised but there wasn't one!! Despite all this we really enjoyed our stay. Loved the pool.

Fantastic property in a fantastic location

The villa is superbly situated in Vathy harbour, it is less than a 2 minute walk to the harbour front. The villa is well equipped and has fantastic views. The communication with the owner Costa was superb and anything we needed was provided. Overall, a fantastic villa in a fantastic location.

Family holiday week 2 - stunning

For the 2nd week of this years family holiday we wanted to be more part of a Greek village than the more remote beach villa experience of our 1st week - what a fabulous choice we made with our Vathy selection. The views from the eating area at the front of the villa are beautiful, looking directly above the restaurant roof tops and into the marina. The pictures provided don't do justice to just how pretty Vathy is, nor do they give the sense to how friendly all the locals are towards you as a tourist. Vathy is a special place. The villa itself is ample, clean and effective for a family holiday. With the local shopping amenities being so handy, it is no chore to carry your food/refreshments back up from the near by supermarkets on a daily basis. The villa is probably not quite a family of 5 venue, but 2 kids sharing one of the 2 bedrooms and a 3rd on a sofa bed downstairs worked for us. The pool is pleasant although we didn't get too much use of it during our weeks stay. It is however quite a signature feature in the village as there aren't many or possibly any other villas so close to the village offering a pool. Our days were spent on a hired boat, which given the high temperatures you will experience in Vathy, was actually more valued for the cooling sea breeze than we had anticipated. Early evening post boating drinks of the veranda overlooking the village was how we experienced our daily pre-dinner routine. Breakfast was a similar routine and no better way to start the day watching life getting started in the marina. The restaurants are all pretty good, most offering a consistent high quality of local cuisine. There are good places too eat immediately below the cottage as opposed to those closet to the ferry port end of the marina. For something slightly different and actually our favourite restaurant, you should try Tilevoes on the opposite side of the marina. We ate out every evening, mostly because of the convenience but also because of the good value of doing so in Vathy

Fantastic Property, Wonderful Location!

Our 2 week stay at Costa's "Villa Katopodis" in early June 2015 matched all of our expectations. The location, just a minute's walk from the restaurants, tavernas and shops of the quaint picturesque quayside of Vathi, is ideal - close enough for easy access, but also made for a very quiet and tranquil accommodation. The property itself was very well presented and cleaned very diligently twice a week. Comfortable and tasteful furnishings gave a homely feel to the Villa which was well equipped including a high speed Wi-Fi connection. The outside spaces were very impressive indeed with fantastic views over the town and small harbour. The pool and barbeque area provided a fabulous private space to relax and enjoy the sunshine (although enough shaded areas could be found if required). We spent many hours during the day enjoying the beautiful and spacious pool and a number of evenings were spent making full use of the excellent barbeque. Costa was an excellent host; he is a very pleasant and nice gentleman. He was available by phone if required and in fact, he phoned us during the first few days to make sure that everything was ‘just right’. The only thing we requested was that an extra couple of pillows be provided and these were duly brought to the villa the following day. On the day of our arrival he met us at the villa and showed us around and gave good advice regarding the many excellent places to eat in Vathi. He seemed very genuine in his desire to ensure that everything was perfect for us on our holiday. Incidentally, we bumped into him a couple of times while visiting Nidri, and both times he invited us to join him for coffee. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Vathi and highly recommend ‘Villa Katopodis’ as the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing & authentic Greek holiday. We will definitely return to stay at Costa’s villa in the future.

Thoroughly recommended!

We chose Villa Katopodis as it is in a quiet, private setting with delightful views of Vathi harbour and the mountains beyond, yet just meters away from the convenience of the village with its wealth of tavernas, cafés and useful shops & supermarkets. Stunning beaches are easily reachable by foot, so a car isn’t essential, but car, scooter and boat hire is available in the village for exploring further afield on the beautiful island of Meganisi. The villa itself is clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated, and is well equipped inside and out, including high speed WiFi. The orientation of the villa is such that it remains cool inside, with integrated roller fly screens on all the windows and air conditioning in both bedrooms. Electrically operated blinds on the south facing balcony offer further shade if required. Both sunshine and shade can be found in the pool and barbecue area. The pool itself is larger than we might have reasonably expected and the brick built barbecue is superb, with an adjacent sink and marble work surface, all under the shade of a roof. Outside, the villa and grounds have elegant lighting, which made our alfresco evening dining a real pleasure, even in October! We met Costa, the owner of the villa, who was very friendly and helpful and justly proud of his property. If you are seeking a quality villa on Meganisi that is both private and convenient, we’d thoroughly recommend Villa Katopodis!
