Lapinkangas studio w/sauna. Semidetached. Pet friendly with private garden.
Very flexible check-in and -out hours. Peaceful rural/coutryside experince 20km from Oulu Railway Station.
Traditional great room (pirtti): bedding, living, dinig, kitchen areas without separating doors. Separate vestibule, WC, dressing room, shower room, and sauna. Glazed porch. Total footprint area 60m2.
Several different bedding options/ combinations. E.g. Dbl bed 140x200cm, sofa beds 90x180 & 80x200 cm. Cridle. Extra mattresses. (Mention your bedding preferences in the initial message! So everything will be assembled when you arrive.)
Electrical heating and cooling in the great room. Heating in bath/vestibule areas.
Traditional wood burning fireplaces: sauna stove, and "leivinuuni" in the great room; firewood provided. Large private garden 2000m2, with natural slope for sledge sliding in winter. Maybe rolling in snow after sauna?
Natural winter darkness, with minimal artificial outdoor lights, allows visual of stars - and occasionally the Northern Lights (Aurea Borealis).
In June-July, it never gets dark, you can read book indoors without artificial light on, (if you don't pull the blinds over windows).
Access to private living area with outdoor fireplace at Oulujoki river shore (shared with the host family).
Free parking, of course!
E-vechile charging 11kW available/extra pay.
Nearest groceries store 5km, Oulu city 20km. Decent bus connections from/to Oulu and Muhos (railway stations) during weekdays in August-May. A couple of runs on weekends and June-July.
I will welcome you in person, as I live close by. I am happy to help anytime, e.g. with the sauna stove, but will definetly give you all the privacy during the stay.
Please give me a hint if you assume to arrive very early/ noonish/ midnightish, in the initial message (of course I will be open for changes, though)!

I love to meet people from different places and various languages, and introduce this old but constantly converted traditional farmhouse to new people.
Varför vÀrden valde detta boende
Lapinkangas is a rare and well preserved, nationally cherished cultural landscape in Finland, along Northern/Eastern bank of Oulujoki River.
The traditional settlement is lengthwise scattered between River Oulujoki and Road Vaalantie. The farm properties were thinly formed perpendicularly to both river and road. That let every property to get a fair share of far away forest and swamp, fields closer to the road, and a portion of the river shore for salmon fishing.
Unlikely for Oulu overall landscape, Lapinkangas is not totally flat, as only the contemporal river valley used to be under the sea (a few millennia ago). The road runs along the esker ridges (formed by melting glaciers of the ice age), and gives ample views over the agricultural fields and the Oulujoki.
The ancient origins of the landscape explains also the extraordinary quality of our delicious tap water, groundwater locally harvested, and distributed on both sides of the river in the Pikkarala Ridge area.
Local cultural history is fantastically celebrated by the Art Path of Sanginkontu, along Kiekonlenkki ski/jogging route, ca 10km towards Oulu from our place.
