Primarily booked the location due to the pool…which couldn’t be used because it was not yet cleaned and prepared for use. Very disappointing for my 3 grandchildren.

Easter weekend

The home is located very close to SIU campus in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It is a good size, and has a lot of potential. We loved the basement. It was great for hanging out but evidently had not been swept or mopped since the previous guests and we would have been more comfortable if the soiled couch was not there. While the house has been updated, it is in need of many repairs and a very deep cleaning. It did not appear to have been swept or mopped between guests. The bathroom mats and mat leading to the outside were dirty, and matted down. The floors upstairs have started to be replaced, but the remaining carpet in the upstairs bedrooms are stained with what appears to be dog urine. (It is a pet friendly home.) Caulking throughout the bathrooms is dirty and the rusty vents do not present a clean environment. The back bedroom ceiling has major cracks and staining on the ceiling. The kitchen cabinets are filthy. The windows and screens throughout the home were filled with bugs, a coat of dirt, and spider eggs. We rented this house to host an Easter breakfast and spend time with our children over the holiday weekend. The weather was not suitable for sitting outside but if it were, we would not have been able to because the back patio was loaded with debris and the furniture was dirty and damaged. The umbrella was mildew stained. We had booked this home for parents weekend in October but after this visit, it has been canceled.

Quiet, well appointed, charming, and comfortable

This spacious, well-appointed property is located in a quiet neighborhood. We had plenty of room for several adults to stay comfortably to attend SIU winter graduation. We had everything we needed to cook meals at home, and I would highly recommend this rental.

Perfect for families!

This property was perfect for visiting during Thanksgiving week. The house was spacious, clean and the beds were comfortable! The teenagers loved the ping pong table and pool table most of all. And the kitchen was very well stocked with more than enough kitchen essentials to prep some dishes for Thanksgiving dinner. The only disappointment was that we could not enjoy the outdoor patio and swimming pool. We will definitely be making a return trip during the summer months. This house and property was comfortable and very enjoyable for our family of 6!

Potential beauty in need of TLC!!!

Unfortunately the pictures do not paint the proper picture of the properties condition. We thought we were getting a nice house in a quiet, residential neighborhood. The neighborhood part was accurate, but the condition of the house was more "frat house" vibe. This could be a beautiful house in a great neighborhood, unfortunately it has not been taken care of and is literally crumbling. The exterior of the house shows evident signs of decay - holes in the exterior by the front door, rotting windows, buckled shutters, brick steps that are not level and even a branch coming through the roof of the garage. The main level - LR, DR and family rooms are in decent condition and decorated very nicely. The owner seems to be trying with these rooms. Then you get to the kitchen and the bathroom on this level and things change. The small shower in this LL bath has mold, the kitchen has seen better days -- windows could not be opened because they were rotted, filled with bugs and/or mold. The sliding door screen was bent and didn't close properly. The bedrooms upstairs, two of them are in fair condition and two not so much. Carpeting in the rooms are visibly dirty. Windows had bugs/mold. Ceilings are peeling/sagging or have visible water damage and also sagging. The bathrooms upstairs are ok, but nothing was properly cleaned. We were a group of 4-couples so the house had the space we needed. We made the best of this rental. For the nightly rate, it should be better maintained and cleaned.

Reunion Getaway

This house was perfect for three (or four) couples. The kitchen was extremely well stocked and the house was beautifully decorated. Unfortunately the pool was already closed and it rained the whole weekend. But we still had a great time playing games and watching football. The neighborhood is very quiet. I would definitely recommend this property and look forward to visiting again.

Time together

Stayed here for our annual sister reunion. Enjoyed the clean, clear pool in the hot days of August. Had an issue of shower leaking in upstairs hall bath, was reimbursed some since unable to use that shower/tub during our stay. This would be a beautiful home for a family that could/would love it and give it some TLC. Outside/indoors rugs can be a tripping hazard as corners are curled. Would consider staying there again if it wasn't such a long drive for us.

Great pool and neighborhood

Loved the inground pool and socializing on the patio. The outside needed some bee treatment . My daughter got stung coming in the front door. There were bees nest all around the door. Other than that it was a great place to stay.

Cute house for relaxing

The pool and ping ping table were a hit among the kids. There is only a tv in the master bedroom. Carbondale is pretty spread out but the location of the house made everything pretty easy to get to.

Great Getaway

This was our second time staying here. The property is exactly as advertised and the perfect get away for a family that included 3 generations. The house was big enough that everyone had their space if needed and we loved sitting out by the pool. Also the ping pong table was a hit for us.

This is a beautiful house. There are areas where repair is needed, however it did not negatively affect our stay on any way. Clean, quiet, excellent location and most of all, we were incredibly comfortable.

This is a very relaxing comfortable home. The outside pergola/backyard/pool area is fantastic. This was our third year there and we are going back next year. That is the best endorsement.

Beautiful and quiet location!

Neighborhood and home were lovely and really enjoyed the pool. Home and pool need a little TLC (which signs assured us would be coming soon). I would suggest new mattresses in all but the master bedroom and perhaps a handrail for the pool stairs. Overall we had a great time and would return for another visit!

Great home!

We stayed there with some friends, had a wonderful time in the pool and the basement games! Easy check in, fast responses, everything looked very clean! Only things I would say, there were a bunch of fruit flies and flies when we got there, it might have just been the previous people not closing doors, but a dehumidifier might help with that since the pool is right there. The kitchen cabinets do smell older, they’re clean, just have that smell that reminds me of my grandma’s house. Only other thing would have been good to have a heads up that the pool cleaning lady was coming at 9pm. My husband was ready to defend us against whoever drove in the driveway and turned off the lights. All was fine, but definitely made us a bit nervous that late at night. Otherwise fabulous beds, great layout for the house, great pool the kids practically lived in, cute towns and parks nearby for the kids!

Friendly host

Very nice neighborhood. We had major issues with mosquitoes in a fountain where the pump was not working. We were unable to enjoy being outside around the pool because of this. Also, lots of mosquitoes got into the house as well. The upstairs bedrooms were extremely warm, except for the master bedroom. We did follow the instructions that the host gave us, but it was still uncomfortable. I think the pool area needs some cleaning. Lots of mulch everywhere. Felt very damp back there which causes more mosquitoes. If these two things were fixed, it would be a five star. We still enjoyed our time. Very nice host. hopefully those things are fixed cause we would love to come back again. Late Saturday night the host did send someone out there to try to rectify the mosquitoes.
