kitchen was well stocked but dishes and glassware in cabinets were not all clean well enough. we also found a pan in the oven with coagulated grease in it. yuck. not enough toilet paper-6 adults had three half rolls of toilet paper for two days?! also scarcity of dishwasher pods and trash bags. we had an impromptu visit from the host during our stay. annabella is lovely although it felt a bit awkward as the visit was unexpected and we werent certain of its purpose. guests may have a problem with this interruption of privacy. otherwise space and visit was good. wifi was very unreliable- if theres any way to boost- guests would appreciate!

Perfect for a family connection

We just don’t get to see each other that much anymore! We had six adults using the four bedrooms, and it was perfect. No one felt crowded. The beds were comfy. A well stocked kitchen, plus plenty of spices and other staples.And all wasCompletely surrounded by trees, I would love to come back in the fall!Thank you much!

Visited the area for a family birthday party

The house was absolutely perfect for what we needed, and our family enjoyed our stay very much!! We lost power while we were there one morning, and Anabela came to let is know that it wasnt house related and should be restored soon, she was right, in less than 2 hours we were up and running again. The 2 hours gave us time to explore outside and we got to see an owl we would have otherwise missed. A little more info about the gate at the top of the driveway would have been helpful, there is no service there so we had to ride around to find service to reach out and get the answers we needed. If we are in the area again we would not hesitate to stay here again. Quiet, peaceful and relaxing, just what we needed after spending the day at a two year olds birthday party!!

Graduation Stay

We really enjoyed staying at this beautiful cabin for our recent trip to the area for college graduations. It was a beautiful and peaceful setting, and the cabin. Only about 30 minutes from the campus in Durham, it was a lovely space to stay with our family, and enjoy relaxing times with our new graduate. Highly recommend for families willing to have a reasonable drive.

The area is beautiful and so is the house but there were only 3 useable bedrooms. The closet in the master bedroom had 2 single beds in it. The other bedroom was used for storage per owner. The oven needs to be cleaned. There are no toiletries only 4 towels. Shower in master needs to be cleaned brown spots in shower. A 2

Wonderful experience

We had a great time staying at Anabela’s lovely house in the woods. The pictures and descriptions on the website are very accurate. It’s so warm and comfortable. There is beautiful artwork and there are several antiques, all of which enrich your stay. I highly recommend this rental to anyone who is anywhere near this area.

Quiet and cozy space in Rougemont

The house was unique, comfortable beds, and good gathering spaces, and located about 30 minutes north of Durham, NC. Some of the rooms were unusual as there was a twin bed in an enclosed side porch and another room separate from the main house. The kitchen had sufficient supplies to cook a bit. Poor cell coverage was easily overcome with very good high-speed internet and Wi-Fi calling. There were few hiccups that were quickly addressed by our host.

More than expected!

From beginning to end overly pleased! 1) Arrival and departure instructions clear. 2) Arrived to home just as described and clean as a pin! Not a dust bunny to be found! 3) Left it just as we found it! Anabella was an amazing host and offered the most comfort. We enjoyed our stay and the local hospitality with excellent food. Since the home is exactly the same distance for my sister and I, we will be booking again.

A frame in the woods

Anabela was super accommodating, she let us check in early and check out late. We loved the property, so beautiful with the fall foliage, almost like a tree house. Our only complaint is that we had to leave. When in Rougemont stay here!

Well furnished living in beautifyl surroundings

Settling in felt natural, although we had a large group. Very comfortable furniture, well stocked kitchen (although could use some non-stick pans), all the fixtures worked. The view of the tall trees through the A-Frame is an ideal backdrop for family gatherings. The owner' attention to detail is excellent.

Beautiful, quiet escape

We loved our time at Anabela’s beautiful A-frame. There is hiking, good food and beautiful gardens nearby, but when you’re in the house, you feel secluded from it all. Wonderful.

Lovely sun-lit retreat

We were searching for a home near Durham to spend a weekend celebrating a birthday with family and we’re so happy that we found this sun-lit A-frame on a beautifully wooded lot. It accommodated our family of 4 adults, 2 grandsons, and an infant granddaughter comfortably. Anabela Mendes, the property contact responded to all inquiries promptly and permitted an early check- in. We were blessed with warm sunny weather- the adults enjoyed relaxing on the wrap-around deck and the children had fun leading our group on a trail through the woods. We went to a coffee shop in Durham and took the kids to a playground for a morning, but otherwise we were quite content to relax and refresh in this beautiful retreat.

In the Details

Let me begin by saying, the A-Frame in the woods is absolutely gorgeous. Anyone can benefit from the quiet, semi-secluded home in the woods. Though it was fall and the path that circles the house was covered, it only adds to the beauty of taking sunrise walks on these grounds. The host, however, takes away from what is otherwise an idyllic scene. We rented the space, four of us, for a end of the year retreat. The first red flag is that we get there and, to our surprise, theres only three beds. Of course, first we verify with the site to make sure the mistake wasnt on our end. Indeed, it wasnt. I texted Anabela, the property owner, and with an unnecesarily combative text she replied thay we only registered for four guests and that an extra room would cost us extra. Confused and unsure why anyone would assume to order extra beds, when the space is advertised as plenty and no communication had stated otherwise in the month since we had booked. I asked, " where should the fourth adult sleep?". For some odd reason she seems to think its acceptable to have only three beds for four adults. She reluctingly gave us a code to a fourth bedroom (or sunroom) that featured two other twin beds -- as if she was doing us a favor. The most alarming part would come after we left. Let me say, I personally cleaned every inch of the house: washed dishes, swept floors, and readied the bedding for laundry. Trash was disposed and furniture and dishes placed exactly as they were, if not in better condition. Some hours after our departure I get an accusatory, inflammatory text about drugs being found all over the house and ashes all over the porch. She even dispatched a plumber for a "clogged toilet". I asked for pictures. The clogged toilet didnt show anything and havent heard anything about a plumber still some days after. The story of these drugs, well, apparently none were found in the spotlesd house either. Instead, she sends me a non-descript picture of a cigarrette butt, presumably found on the porch. The porch covered in ashes -- no sign or evidence of that either. She was clear to voice her "disappointment" however. I was alarmed and a bit thrown off by her insistence that "drugs were found around the house" only to be unsubstantiated. Not even a slight smell of marijuana, which has a strong pungent and hard to remove smell. While I would reccomend the setting to anyone; it appears the homeowner is much too intolerable. Caveat emptor.
