I have stayed at Starr Pass Suites in 2024 and 2025. The resort is perfect for me when I visit family in Tucson. I like the extra room of the 2 bedroom unit. I hiked in Tucson Mountain Park - fantastic. I rented a bike and was able to ride 4 days. Desert Museum is nearby and worth the trip. Dave, the owner, is wonderful to work with if you have any issues. The pool, gym and tennis court on the Starr Suites property is not accessible to guests of the property being reviewed. Employees of the Marriott told us that Marriott no longer owns the pool at Starr Suites. Regardless of ownership be aware that the Star Pass Suites pool is not available to guests of this unit. The kitchen was well stocked. We mopped the floor during our stay. The beds were comfortable and internet worked great. For lap swimming the City / County operated Fred Archer Pool and gym are a couple of mile drive and no cost. Tub in Master BR was not in working order during our stay.

Amazing Tucson location

What a delightful surprise the location of this comfortable casita turned out to be! We were met by a constant stream of wildlife, just off the patio. Javelinas, Mule deer, rabbits and coyotes wandered by. Hummingbirds, Cardinals and Orioles made a daily appearance. Starr Pass is well sited for easy access to all the amenities of Tucson, to the nearby Marriott and to the highways that lead to many other southern Arizona adventures. Many hiking trails are within walking/short driving distance. The casita was newly refreshed at our visit and very comfortable. Our host was easy to contact when we had any questions. The six weeks we spent there flew by and we were sad to say goodby.

Not sure why you’re asking again. I already said it was fabulous. I love the wood floors and recommend a place. Don’t want over it cause then somebody might take my favorite week.

New Renovations Add to Comfort

Newly repainted, newly installed flooring and new living area furniture make this a comfortable place. This is an older unit, so expectations of the latest home design will not be met. However, there is plenty of space in both bathrooms, bedrooms and kitchen, even if it is not the most up-to-date design. We all enjoyed this unit and we would readily stay here again.

Wildlife

A little down at the heel but nevertheless comfortable and well equipped. We especially enjoyed the flagstone patio where we saw a large variety of birds and animals. The location was convenient and we enjoyed the pool and a meal at the resort. A successful stay!

Clean and had everything needed was provided. A bit dated and TV's on the small side. WiFi only available in the club house. I would check to see if that has changed in the future.

We loved our stay.

We just loved the casita. Great location and fabulous wildlife/bird watching from our patio. Private and quiet. We stayed 2 months and enjoyed every day. We had 4 groups of family come for a week apiece. They all enjoyed it. Thanks to Dave - we would like to come again.

Starr Pass Resort Golf Casita

Starr Pass Resort is a beautiful property, quiet, with beautiful dessert scenery and mountain vistas. JW Marriott and golf courses are wonderful. The Tucson area has beautiful scenery, parks, hiking and restaurant opportunities. As other reviewers have mentioned this property “needs some love”. (Carpeting, bed linens and kitchen appliances need replacing). The owner was responsive to our concerns.

Great location

although casita is worn and dated, location offers great nearby birding, hiking, swimming. outdoor pool particularly attractive. Bobcat walked across patio while we were there!

Swimming, hiking, bird watching excellent. Casita somewhat dated and worn and we had some appliance, plumbing issues which were promptly fixed by owner.

Wonderful location

Javalinas, mule deer, hummingbirds, Gambel's quail abound. Was visited by all within yards of patio. Bed very comfortable. Location within a developed area but felt very private. Highly recommend. Host was wonderfully understanding when we had a family ER and had to leave early. Hoping we can stay again soon. Recommend!

Spacious, well equipped, comfortable & great patio

This rental had it all - lots of room, clean & neat, everything we needed, private patio & attentive host. The parking was right out out front for easy access.The patio, surrounded by native vegetation, was a delightful place to relax & watch the many birds, enjoy afternoon shade plus the sun & moon rise - spectacular! Our host was quick to resposond & very accomadating - the best! We look forward to staying again in the near future. 5 stars!!!!!

I really enjoyed my stay at this property.

The location was ideal for hiking. Great trails minutes away. Beautiful Mountain Views. The place could use some updating, but I feel the price was a good value. I think the fees on VRBO are too high.

Great location and gorgeous view

This condo was a perfect location - just steps from the golf course and restaurant. The property was very clean and spacious with beautiful views of the Catalina Mountains.

Maintenance Needed

We enjoyed our visit to this beautiful casita located in a beautiful area. Having said that, there are some serious issues that need attention. First the ice maker did not work and when we purchased ice it gradually melted even though the freezer was set to the coldest setting. Second, while the dishwasher did complete the cycle and light the clean light, it did a terrible job washing the dishes. This must have been a problem for some time since many of the dishes in the cabinets were dirty. Third, the lock on the window in the bedroom is broken in the locked position so the window cannot be opened. Beyond that, many things screwed into the walls were loose and several light bulbs were burnt out. A good maintenance person needs to spend some time here.

Beautiful setting right next to Starr Pass Resort

We stayed here for about a week while visiting our daughter who attend the U of AZ. It's very convenient to drive to downtown or the U from this property - 10-15 minutes with minimal stoplights/traffic - a much easier drive than from the north side resort areas. The community pool is very well kept and is a short 2 minute walk from the casita. Several trails have trailheads very nearby making a quick hike very convenient. The patio is east-facing with lush desert landscaping and many butterflies and hummingbirds. The casita itself is a bit dated and could use a facelift, but everything is in working order, the shower is good, and the bed is comfortable (I'm picky about my mattresses as I tend to have hip and shoulder pain.) It was a wonderful home away from home!

What a great place! Beautiful area, golfing, nice restaurant and pool. Deer come up on the back patio. Good location to Desert Museum and trails! Definitely Recommend!!

Wonderful stay in Starr Pass Resort!

We had a wonderful stay in this condo, which felt much more like a home than a rental. There was lots of room to spread out and relax, a fully equipped kitchen, and even games to play. The location is fantastic - fairly close to freeways and Tucson itself, but it feels like you're on a getaway in the wild desert. The whole resort is beautifully landscaped with native plants, and we saw tones of wild animals right from the patio of the condo, including javelinas. The beds and sheets weren't the most comfortable (especially in the room with two beds), but the other benefits of this rental more than made up for that. We'll definitely stay again next time we're int theTucson area.

My wife and I have stayed at this complex several times and you can't beat the location and association amenities. Just 10 minutes to downtown Tucson and there's a large pool, and nearby fitness room. The condo, however, was a bit underwhelming. The carpet is worn in areas and presents a tripping hazard, especially in the primary bedroom. It appears to need a good stretching throughout. The primary bathroom light fixture had a broken bulb holder which was just hanging down. There was/is a dead cockroach on the floor in the secondary bathroom. It seems that the property management company might not be relaying property conditions to the owner. Too bad. Just a few maintenance-type repairs would make this a great unit to rent.

As Boston natives we loved to escape to Starr Pass. Over the years we spent more and more time there and now call Tucson our home. We love cycling, Southwestern food, horses, and the 350 days of sunshine that Arizona offers.

Varför vÀrden valde detta boende

We bought this property because of it's incredible location in the Tucson Mountains, with access to amazing trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The proximity of the JW Mariott sealed the deal with it's many restaurants, bars, and a Starbucks. We start most days out on the trails, afternoons at the pool, and evenings with friends at an incredible selection of restaurants.

Vad som gör detta boende unikt

Starr Pass' location is unique from the standpoint that we are 15 minutes from the airport and only 4 miles to downtown Tucson....all while sitting in the Tucson Mountains, surrounded by green golf courses and spectacular views.
