I receive reviews of this type more and more often from people who are not informed of Italian laws regarding hospitality.
I am a private citizen who rents a furnished accommodation (which is also our beach holiday home, because we live 1,000 km away). In this case there are taxes to pay and things that the law allows or does not allow to do: FOR EXAMPLE I CANNOT PROVIDE HOTEL TYPE SERVICES TO MY GUESTS. THE ONLY SERVICES ALLOWED ARE THE SUPPLY OF LINEN. ANY OTHER THING OR SERVICE PROVIDED TRANSFORMS A SIMPLE TEMPORARY RENTAL CONTRACT - MAX 30 DAYS - INTO A MANAGERIAL TYPE ACTIVITY. FOR EXAMPLE IN A B&B OR IN A PENSION OR IN A SMALL HOTEL. TO DO THIS YOU MUST REQUEST A VAT NUMBER. A SPECIFIC AUTHORIZATION AND THOUSANDS OF OTHER DUTIES, AS WELL AS DIFFERENT TAXES TO PAY. Having clarified this aspect, I still provide my guests with small things that they can use immediately on the evening of arrival: such as toilet paper or a dishwasher tablet, and the next morning guests can go to the supermarket and buy everything they need. they want. I REPEAT I CANNOT PROVIDE HOTEL TYPE SERVICES! I ALSO KNOW THAT MANY HOUSEHOLDERS EVEN PROVIDE BREAKFAST, FOR WHICH THEY RISK A FINE OF UP TO 5,000 EUROS BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT B&Bs EQUIPPED WITH A SPECIAL AUTHORIZATION WHICH IS ONLY GRANTED AFTER A COURSE AND AN EXAM.
Finally, I'm sorry that you judge Vassili so harshly, who together with his wife Liudmyla are Ukrainian refugees and work hard to survive in Italy and send money to their children at home. Furthermore, she asked to bring forward his arrival. Which Vassili did as far as possible, given that he has a very strict job and employer.
Finally, the extra costs: if you consider 10 EUROS (THE EQUIVALENT OF THE MINIMUM HOURLY WAGE AT EUROPEAN LEVEL) excessive to wash, dry and iron 3 towels (including electricity and detergents), perhaps you live in a different world from mine .
Furthermore, the costs required for the Internet are exactly the costs that TIM requires of me for the FLEXI subscription, which is a subscription suitable for second homes. You pay a monthly fee of 5.90 euros (WHICH I PAY ALL YEAR ROUND EVEN WHEN THE ACCOMMODATION IS UNINHABITED) and then on request 5.90 for 2 days, 12.90 for a week. If even these seem excessive prices to you, I hope you find something better in the States.
Two more notes: among the advantages of the house there is also the fact that ours is the only house equipped with a lift in the entire historic center overlooking Marina Piccola, whose access to the accommodation is normally via very steep stairs.
Lastly, I think that, given your expectations, for the next few times it would be better if you look for a hotel rather than a house for temporary rent.
