10 out 10. Excellent property kept in excellent condition. Super clean!!!!! Caught 1 large redfish and 1 large catfish off the dock. Caught dozens of smaller catfish, small trout and croakers. We caught 8 good sized crabs. We didn’t have a boat but never left the property because the dock and back patio were so enjoyable for our 3 night weekend. Everything is top notch from the granite countertops to wood floors. It is not a cabin, it was a high end home perfect for our family of 4.

Perfect bayou experience!

We loved every minute of our stay. The accommodations were exceptionally clean and comfortable. We caught trout, redfish and crabs right off the dock. Truly a wonderful experience. Enjoyed seeing the shrimp and crab boats passing by on the bayou! Beautiful sunsets too.

FIshing Getaway

We had a wonderful time in Montegut at our fishing cabin. The house was a beuatifully renovated home on the water with a great wooden deck and pier for fishing. The home was very comfortable. The host was very friendly, helpful and accomodating. He even gave us a list of his favorite fishing locations in the area. I will definitely recommend this home to anyone looking to just getaway to relax and fish.

Newly weds celebrating

Celebrating 42 years marriage fishing and relaxing and this was the perfect place. Great communication with owner. The house was clean, had everything we needed to be comfortable, plus games, fishing poles and chairs.

The Fish Camp.

The house is very nice and up to date. Nice appliances in the kitchen and a tankless water heater so plenty of hot water. Nice bathroom’s .The dock is newer and caught Redfish at nighttime.Nice location the Dollar Store right up the road is nice.I would stay again for sure.

Paradise on The Bayou

The camp was picture perfect. Rick has it decorated to perfection, yet it feels cozy and comfortable. If you love to fish or just enjoy the quietness of sitting in the swing watching the water go by this the place! The host is easily accessible (even if he is the woods of North Ms.) to answer any questions that come up. This was my first start here but definitely not my last.

Slice of heaven on the bayou!

Family time

Had the best time with my family at the camp. The place was unbelievable, it was so pretty and well decorated. The outside was just as nice, my grandson love fishing off the docks and so did I. We didn’t catch any big fish but we caught a lot of catfish, crrokers,garfish and crabs. I lived sitting on the porch in the morning drinking my coffee with the nice breeze. Mr. Rick was so nice and helpful, he made sure we had everything we needed. I couldn’t have asked for anything better, we liovedit so much, we are already looking forward to our next trip there.

Amazing stay on the bayou!

Our family of 5 stayed for a week to enjoy warm weather, fishing and good food. We had it all and so much more! Totally Happy

We have rented a VRBO in Feb for at least 15 years. Every year we rented in a new location, but this is the second year we've rented this house. Rick is the best host of any property we've stayed in, hands down. The house is a dream...clean and fresh, updated, nicely set up, and RIGHT ON the BAYOU. Literally. The people in the area are terribly nice...friendly, helpful, fun, kind. We can never get enough of the local seafod...oysters (the half shell oysters were the best we've ever had this year), shrimp, crab, crawdads...usually from a restaurant in Houma, previously the national Oyster capitol, which is about 20 minutes north. This year we tried grilled oysters and were WOWED. We also ate an amazing buffalo shrimp poboy at the local Duges, and of course the whole area features gumbo and jambalaya. We had to go to the Quarter for Muffaletta sandwiches, but got tickets to Preservation Hall while we were there. N.O. is just about 1.5 hours and an easy trip. This is a wonderful place to sit back, fish, unwind, and enjoy a lovely sunset beyond the bayou.

Great location, awesome host!

We cannot say enough great things about this property. The property was exactly as listed, and minutes away from all of the area’s prime fishing locations. Caught more fish off the dock at the back of the camp than anywhere else. Richard was incredible with communications and went above and beyond to make sure my husband and I had exactly what we needed for a successful trip. Bait and timing recommendations on point. The property was very clean and welcoming, with anything you could need provided. We’ll be planning another trip soon and will 100% be returning. Thank you, Rick, for your hospitality!

Great Little House!

Lovely old home with a fresh complete remodel inside. Two large bedrooms and two large bathrooms with roomy living room and kitchen. Well accommodated while keeping the charm of a old house with high ceilings and wood floors. Directly on a canal with large deck, covered porch and covered carport. Great place to stay! We grew up on the bayous but as adults we moved away. This is our personal fishing camp which we remodeled in 2018 to make our home away from home. It was reported built in 1900 but you can't tell that now. She's a beaut. Our busy lifestyle doesn't allow us to go often at this time so we share it with others who long for a real "Down the Bayou" experience. Le Sha'Teaux is in the heart of real cajun country, surrounded by real fishing community families. The back porch is our favorite spot. We sit on the porch swing for hours on end. In the winter we catch speckled trout and redfish under the light on the dock in historic Bayou Terrebonne. The rest of the year is bass, freshwater cat fish and perch. We are only a two mile boat ride to Humble Canal, which is direct access to amazing saltwater fishing, shrimping and crabbing. It's only seven miles to Bush Canal and another short boat ride to Cocodrie. It's a 5-10 minute drive to the Island Road in Pointe Aux Chien (which is famous for crabbing from the roadside).

Immediately next door is a new concrete boat launch with ample parking. All guests are welcome to use the launch. Later in the year, our satsuma and peach trees are full of fruit and should be enjoyed by our guests. Fish are readily available to be caught all year long. The only thing we ask is that no one fry inside of our home. No smoking. No pets.
