Hyde House Tulip Tree Bed and Breakfast Hocking Hills mellan Logan och Aten

Detta vackra nationella register viktorianska hus (tidigare känt som The Mead House) byggdes 1882 och blev hem för Dr. Jerry Morris Hyde och familjen i Hyde i nästan 90 år. Ursprungligen byggd av Dr. I. P. Primrose för sin dotter Sarah och hennes nya make, den såldes till Dr. Hyde 1890. De två läkarna var vänner, grannar och också partners i flera Nelsonville fastighetsföretag. När den sista Hyde-efterfaren dödades 1977 blev huset en följd av bostäder, hyror och studentbostäder, tills det räddades och vackert restaurerades som en Bed & Breakfast av Michael och Sheila Mark 2006. Under 2009 blev den långvariga Bed and Breakfast-entreprenören och historiaälskaren Sue Maxwell ägare. Sue ägde B & B-traditionen fram till 2016. Sue äger Primrose Bed & Breakfast tvärs över gatan. Hyde House gården har en stor wrap runt verandan med gott om sittande, gott om plats för avkoppling. Gården har en härlig matplats, vardagsrum, salong och fyra välutrustade sovrum och 4 1/2 badrum. Varje gäst har ett bekväma färgglada rum med privat badrum. Två sovrum har en badkar med tigerklor. Endast ett kvarter från Nelsonville Square och nära till Wayne National Forest och 18 minuter från Lake Hope State Park i Zaleski State Forest med miles av vandringsleder och mountainbike. Det 120 tunnland stora Lake Hope är perfekt för fiske, paddling, paddling, picknick och bad. Våra gäster kommer definitivt att vilja besöka Nelsonville's Historic Arts District med Stuarts Opera House, Hocking College och Nelsonville Music Festival.

På Hyde House Bed & Breakfast är cyklister några mil bort från en av Ohio mest utmanande klättringar, Lick Run Hill, med sin dubbla tur i 19% klass. ATV-entusiaster ligger bara några minuter från Dorr Run Trail Head med över 75 mil av avsedda stigar för terrängfordonsförare, mountainbikecyklister och vandrare genom Wayne National Forest. Hyde House ligger 15 minuter väster om Aten och Ohio University och 15 minuter öster om Old Man's Cave. Charming location/bed too hard

The town is charming and so is the historic house. I’d love to give this place a higher rating than a 2, but the reason to book accommodations is to have a place to sleep. The bed was so hard we had a difficult time sleeping - and my husband can usually sleep through anything!

Good location

We only stayed overnight, but it was close to things we wanted to do (Rocky Boot Co and Scenic Railway). Check in and out was very easy. Our room and the entire home was very clean. We were given great suggestions for dinner and things to do/see.

We really enjoyed our stay. Such a cute and quaint bed and breakfast. This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and we plan to stay at this one again. Cherokee was an amazing host, cook and housekeeper. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. The house was immaculate.

The Hocking Hills experience was great and the Hyde House accommodation in Nelsonville was convenient to the hiking opportunities in nearby Logan. Getting to know others who were staying at the B&B made the time we spent there more enjoyable.

Perfect spot for a getaway

It was a beautiful home that was warm and cozy. It was great after some hiking and traveling to come back to the hot tub. Head to Jacks Steakhouse for amazing food, we were told the local pizzeria in Nelsonville that got rave reviews but we didnt get a chance to try it. This place was perfect spot in between the National park (temp closed) and Hocking Hills State Park.

Dry beautiful and clean property…

The house is absolutely gorgeous and everything was very clean. We ended up leaving a day early just because the bed was extremely uncomfortable and the TV in our room didn’t work (I cannot sleep without it on). Overall the place is great and there was a lot of stuff to do nearby. A different mattress and a working TV and we would definitely return. The cook and cleaning lady was also great!

Better than a motel...friendlier

We stayed in the Hyde House which was a beautiful older home which could also be said for the Primrose House across the street. It was really nice to have a lady come in and fix breakfast for everyone. It was not a continental breakfast, eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, toast, oatmeal etc.Meeting and talking to some of the other guests (we had a full house) was enjoyable. Breaking bread with someone is really a great way to know them. Nelsonville is on the southern end of the Hocking Hills area. A++

Disappointing Bed and Breakfast

The room was pretty but the mattress was cheap and old - with springs that stuck into my hip. There were only cheap bars of soap and no shampoo for the shower. The breakfast was disappointing, with the hashbrowns undercooked and strange tasting sausage. The person who makes the breakfast is obviously only there for a paycheck. She does not make you feel welcome or even speak to the guests. Checking in down the street was fine, but it made the whole experience feel much less personable. This hardly qualifies as a "bed and breakfast" stay. The town thankfully had a community pool we enjoyed on a hot saturday but the town does not have very much to offer.

Perfect get away

My wife and I decided to get away and looked over many options but thankful we chose to stay here. The area is beautiful and close to Athens, Logan and of course many options in Hocking Hills. Great room and the breakfast was good that was prepared for guests. We will be coming back and recommending for sure!

We loved staying here. Unfortunately, we were not at the property much due to hiking but once we got there, it felt good to be "home". After a long day of hiking, the bed felt amazing!
