Major cleanliness issues during Covid pandemic
The cleaning crews have obviously been skating in for 30 minutes, getting their large cleaning fee, and getting out. We found that no surfaces have been wiped down for a long long time. We literally spent hours with Clorox wipes taking food speckles off of walls and counters. We also had to clean the sliding doors that had some kind of either child or animal fluids on them. Same with the floors, with some kind of grimy coating on them. We left the place much cleaner then we found it. This is particularly irresponsible of the owner and cleaning crews, considering that we have a Covid pandemic that is killing people.
The good was that the rental had a lot of amenities: lots of stuff for a family to use in going to the beach, beach towels, washer/dryer, screened in back porch, utensils, etc. We did not use any of that, but thought it was nice.
The neighborhood is okay - we can't control everyone. Neighbor across the street fired up a loud motorcycle at midnight and proceeded to stand out in the yard revving it. But there was no problem otherwise. Deputy Sheriff apparently lives down the street about a half mile, that was good.
The mattress in the king bed squeeks, it was a bad/cheap mattress on it's best day ever, which was apparently 20 years ago. Not comfortable.
Bathrooms were good, no issues.
The strangest part was that notes were taped up all around the house. One said to return the remote control to "where you found it" but did not say where it belonged. We looked high and low and never could find a remote control. This was strange, like OCD. Note on the TV, note on the bedroom wall, notes in the garage, notes on the refrigerator. Mostly useless.
Overall, in desperation we would rent it again, but probably will not. If the owner will read this and respond with changes to the cleaning regimen, it will be much better. Advice to future renters: bring on Day 1 your own supply of Clorox wipes, paper towels, spray cleaner.
