The setting is beautiful. The house was very clean. It had everything we needed. Host was available if needed. Would definitely stay there again. Highly recommend for a peaceful, relaxing getaway.

Relaxation at it's best

We loved it all, the location, the quiet, the convenience of everything we needed in the house. So many places to just relax and unwind which is what we needed! Location was great too for all the things we came for!

Stargazers Retreat is an absolute gem tucked away in the mountains outside Monterey. From the moment we arrived, we knew this place was something special. The home was spotless, beautifully maintained, and thoughtfully stocked with everything you could need for a relaxing getaway. The owners clearly put a lot of care into making the home welcoming and comfortable.The views are incredible—rolling ridgelines in every direction—and the night sky is unreal. With zero light pollution (after you unplug the deck lights), you can see more stars than you ever thought possible. I haven't seen that many stars since my time on a navy cruiser at sea. The Milky Way was plainly visible and we saw several shooting stars. We spent hours on the deck just watching the sky and listening to the quiet. Our grandkids weren't much for stargazing, but they were fascinated by the cows on the adjacent properties. It’s the perfect spot to unwind, disconnect, and breathe for a while. The location is ideal if you enjoy scenic drives, US 220 from Monterey to Warm Springs was our favorite. Monterey is just a short trip away, and the surrounding area offers great hiking, trout fishing, and small‑town charm. If you’re looking for a serene mountain retreat with top‑notch hosts, Stargazers Retreat is truly outstanding. We loved our stay and can’t wait to come back.

What a wonderfully put together booking! So cozy and welcoming- it’s a perfect reprieve from the frigid outdoors. Lon was very helpful, always prompt with responses. I would absolutely recommend this booking to anyone who wants to explore the surrounding national forests, and I would certainly be open to using this booking again for the summer.

Peaceful Stay

The property is great. Great location not too far off of the main road, but noise free and beautiful. The house is super clean and cozy with lovely views. The owners are right nearby and wonderful hosts.

Birding trip to Highland County

Very nice and peaceful place. The house is very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The location was a great home base for our birding trip. We also enjoyed the birds around the property.

Wonderful property in the mountains with dark skies and the milky way from horizon to horizon. The hosts were very nice and easily contacted when needed. The house was comfortable, clean, and well stocked with the essentials. Do go to the Green Bank Observatory should you stay as it was a highlight of the visit. Hope to return.

Our week in the country

In a remote 1960’s farmhouse, with sparkling clean rooms and a friendly Jersey cow next door, we loitered on the porch with our coffee, and enjoyed lots of books and memorabilia for five great days while attending a friends wedding. It was wonderful and I recommend this place.

Nice quiet get away

We came for the stars and unfortunately got a cloudy weekend. Still had a great time away from all the hustle and bustle of the city. The home was lovely and people in the town were very nice.
