I travel for work and book stays where I can bring my dog. This stay was just fine. Nothing really special or memorable, this is definitely a bare bones rental. Don’t expect any condiments in the fridge, spices or pantry items. This is a full DIY. The house was comfortable and functional. I never had any issues with things like heat or hot water. It was clean, though it gave me the impression that it was cleaned after the last tenant leaves, not before the next arrives. The location was great, the park down the street is a big plus for dog owners. It seems like some old issues have been addressed - plenty of pots, pans, and cookware. However, there were some big issues that need to be addressed. The mattress downstairs is awful, truly unsleepable. I opted for the couch and a shared room upstairs to avoid it. It needs to be replaced. Also, I think it’s misleading to say the house has television. It has *a* television, with no streaming services or capability of letting you log into your own streaming accounts (Netflix was eternally unable to connect to the network) and the cable options were news, weather, court tv, and one channel playing crime dramas. So yes, there’s a TV, but you’ll need to BYO streaming device or dvd player. Last, I got a late check out for 2p. My code to the door expired before my check out. Luckily the house keeping staff was on site and let me in or else I wouldn’t have been able to access my things and dog to leave.
Smaller issues/inconveniences are that there aren’t really extra blankets/towels/linens, you pretty much get what you get. No comfortable seating on the back porch, plastic table and chairs. The miniatures in the bathroom are fine…but really wouldn’t last of you had more than one or two people in a pinch. Last, you have to constantly log back into the wifi through a portal. Not a huge deal, but annoying enough when you’re working from the home. I logged in 3-4 times every day.
Overall, the house was fine. I felt safe, dry, and warm, and the on demand virtual helper was nice, if relatively ineffective for the issues this house has. Personally, I’m unlikely to book again. I prefer somewhere homier with more conveniences. As others have echoed, this house could be really sweet, but lacks all the homey features that make home shares comfortable.
