Prime Hook Retreat is a spacious four bedroom two bathroom house that sits directly on the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge. The house is open and bright with views of the Refuge from the second story living room, balcony, and all four bedrooms. From the front of the house, enjoy the view of the Delaware Bay in the fully enclosed sun room.

This house has plenty of space to spread out! The large sunroom has comfortable couches to enjoy the view of the bay or an afternoon nap. A game table with an assortment of board games and puzzles for fun with family or friends. Or just sit back in one of the chairs and read a good book. The living room has a beautiful view of the marsh with plenty of seating to socialize or watch a movie. Seat the whole family at the large dining table for dinner or games. Or if you like, enjoy that meal on the front patio under the sunroom.

A laundry and full bathroom are on the ground level along with an outdoor shower to rinse off after a day at the beach.

Located in the Prime Hook Wildlife Refuge, this quiet community is away from the hustle and bustle of crowds and traffic. Enjoy the wildlife, star filled night sky, and wide open sandy beach.

Get the best of all that Prime Hook Has to offer from this house sitting directly on the wildlife refuge and beach access directly across the street. Watch the sun rise over the bay and set across the marsh.

Only 2 1/2 hours from Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington DC, and 25 - 30 minutes to the Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk, beautiful ocean front Cape Henlopen state park, and historic Lewes. Outlet shopping, fabulous restaurants, and amusements are all a short drive away.

Sleeps 8 (or more with owner approval) people on two full beds, 1 queen, and two singles. Linens and towels included.

This is a pet friendly house allowing one pet with additional cleaning fee. Additional pets may be allowed with owner approval.

Off season getaway

This property was perfect for a weekend away and we feel we’ve discovered a new location we’ll be returning to in the future! The house was everything we hoped and the hosts both friendly and very communicative.

Slice of heaven!

Such a beautiful spot between the wildlife refuge and the Bay! Very comfortable house with everything we needed, spectacular sunsets and quick walk across the quiet road to the beach. Owners were responsive and helpful. So nice to be able to have our dog with us. We’ve stayed in several houses on this stretch of Prime Hook and this was our favorite.

Spacious House DIRECTLY Across from the Ocean

This place was an absolute delight for the week that the family and I stayed here. Everything was open and spacious, nothing felt cramped, and everyone had room to chill. The kids loved being able to play in the sun room, in the basement, or just hang out in their own room in between trips out to eat or beach visits. The kitchen was equipped enough for what we needed and the dining area was great for the kids breakfast and lunches. The walk to the beach is short and sweet, just right across the road. Plenty of place to setup there where you aren't directly in front of another houses property, and no coral or anything else intrusive in your way when going for a swim. We would 100% book this house again :)

Keep prime hook a secret!

Everything about this stay was ideal. Nice kitchen. Two bathrooms. Plenty of dining room and living room space. The little balcony off the back was a great place to enjoy AM coffee. Beautiful enclosed upstairs deck looking toward the ocean. A charcoal grill was great! Closets in every bedroom. BYO beach chairs - sunbrellas provided

Fun, family stay at the beach

The house was a great size and nicely laid out with many open spaces for all of us. We loved the sun room and spent a lot of time there working on puzzles and playing games and just relaxing. It also had all the tools and items we needed for daily use. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Dream vacation

Fantastic week ! House and grounds very clean well maintained. Owner very helpful and nice ! Had great time on the beach kayaking , fishing and swimming . Highly recommend this house for a stress free time . 10 out of 10 review!

Beach Getaway

This property was clean and so roomy. The owners thought of everything to make our stay - from linen to bath towels plus games & books for down time entertainment. The views were absolutely amazing - on one side was the Prime Hook Refuge and the other the beach water. It was a short walk to the beach and we loved the fact it was so natural with Horseshoe crabs and sand crabs. There was an amazing breeze that kept us comfortable despite the heat. The owners were responsive to our inquiries and our stay was just the family getaway we were hoping to have. Would definitely stay here again & highly recommend to others to consider for their vacation.

Peaceful Family Getaway

House was clean and neat. All was as expected. Neighborhood was super quiet. Enjoyed the views, and easy access to bay! This would be a great base point for your visit to Delaware beaches.

Great House

We stayed here in March 2024. House was very clean, kitchen very good condition and had upscale dishes, etc. Fantastic views! We enjoyed watching the sun rise on the bay, and also watching the sun set over the preserve. Beds and furniture was comfortable. TV easy to use. Instructions from the owner was helpful. It was just 2 of us, but this would be a great place for a family, or larger group. The owners were very helpful, good communication, easy access. Check out was easy. We enjoyed sitting on the bay beach, and easy access to Lewes and Rehoboth.

Family Thanksgiving

Our family has visited Primehook before and this is the best house we have stayed in. With amazing views in every direction, we enjoyed both sunrise and sunset. It was perfect for our family, ages 7 to 70, our group is already talking about our next visit. Everything was as described! The house was well thought out and organized. In general, just a fantastic space. The bedrooms and living areas were comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed. When we had any questions or concerns Mike was professional and quick to respond. Thanks again Mike and Laura.

Beautiful and Dog Friendly

Prime Hook is a beautiful place to stay. The sunsets are stunning and the wildlife refuge is peaceful. The beach is unspoiled and dog friendly. Nearby restaurants are dog friendly too. The location of this house is perfect with gorgeous views both of the refuge and the bay, and the beach is a minute away. The house is large, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. So nice to have linens included and beds made. Our family had a great stay.

We had a wonderful week. The location is unbelievable with the marsh behind it, filled with a wide variety of birds and breathtaking sunsets. The kitchen was provisioned with everything we needed (though didn't see a fire extinguisher) without unnecessary clutter and the bedrooms and living areas were usable, comfortable and clean. Having small children with us, we could have used a bathroom with a tub, but were able to make it work. The outdoor shower was a little awkward, with spray coming out in lots of directions, and trying to dodge biting flies. A rough deck edge there resulted in one bloodied toe. The biggest set-back was the mosquitos and biting flies. We expected that being right next to the marsh, but weren't quite prepared for it, especially for the pets. Perhaps a screen door on the ground level would be useful. If you went outside at night, all the bugs attracted to the porch light would come right in. There was some water utility construction in the front yard while we were there but didn't have our water shut off at all and the digger in the front yard was a highlight for the 3 year old in our group. The beach was perfect for wading and swimming without the big waves knocking around the little ones. Thanks for the use of your vacation home. We're looking forward to visiting again.

Very fun week and great home!

This was our 5th summer vacation at Primehook and it never disappoints. We bring 4 very active, sports oriented boys and they are never bored. We spent the days kayaking, skim boarding, paddle boarding, and we took the short drive to Rehoboth one day for putt putt, boardwalk fries and dinner out. The nights were spent building cozy campfires and catching sharks. Yep. A little scary but the boys loved every second. The house is very clean and well kept and the hosts were really awesome. Everything you need to cook with is in the kitchen and amazing sunsets over the marsh. We will be back next year!!!

Lovely getaway

This property was very clean and cute and had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and happy. The views from the home were absolutely gorgeous! My only two “wish I knew” moments were 1. to be prepared for the mosquitos, and 2. The grill is charcoal / kind of like a smoker. Neither of these issues impacted our stay significantly and the mosquito issue is probably obvious to anyone who knows the area - we had just never been and didn’t know to prepare. The grill was beyond our ability to figure out but we had no problem using the stove and oven for our needs. All in all it was a super nice, very clean, well stocked vacation home that I would recommend to anyone!

Peaceful beach community

My husband and I were very comfortable in Mike and Laura's house. It was very clean and spacious. The view of the wildlife refuge out the back slider was amazing. The beds were comfortable and the neighborhood quiet.We cooked all our meals in the kitchen which was well-equipped. I enjoyed reading in the evenings on the enclosed front porch addition. I got to watch a magnificent fireworks display from there on the 4th of July. The house is perfectly located in a remote, farming community, yet close to the coastal highway for easy access to Lewes, Henlopen State Park, Rehoboth, Dewey and Bethany beaches, and Fenwick Island.
