Sand and Sun Beachfront Home on Chesapeake Bay - Gwynn’s Island, Mathews County

The cottage is located on the southeastern tip of Gwynn's Island, offering beautiful views of the Chesapeake Bay, stunning sunrises, and stargazing in a rural setting. The semi-private sandy shoreline and shallow beach with minimal waves are ideal for young families. Enjoy canoeing, paddleboarding, kayaking and fishing on the bay. Lounge and relax on the large L-shaped deck with two dining tables (bar height 4-seater overlooking the bay and a rectangular table with seating for up to seven) and lounging chairs with views of the Chesapeake Bay and salt pond. If you enjoy watching wildlife, keep an eye out for dolphins, osprey, sea turtles, muskrats, cranes, blue herons, eagles and an assortment of birds. The interior features a spacious and open floor plan with natural light, a large central skylight, fully equipped kitchen, dining table with seating for 10, three bedrooms and three full bathrooms. A spacious primary bedroom features views of the Chesapeake Bay, king size bed, smart tv, en-suite bathroom with walk-in closet. The second bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed and en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. The third bedroom has twin bunk beds, a queen bed and smart tv. In the garage you will find beach chairs and toys, beach umbrellas, noodles, PFDs, and a wagon to transport equipment to the beach. The private outdoor shower is perfect for rinsing off sand and salt after a long day (or evening) on the beach. The cottage is near the Gwynn's Island RV Resort in Mathews County, Virginia. Located a short 10-15 minute drive from the island is the small town of Mathews where you can enjoy casual and upscale dining, the local summer farmer's market, vintage and antique shops, and local art gallery. For nature lovers, Bethel Beach Natural Area Preserve and Haven Beach are beautiful spots to enjoy nature walks and wildlife. Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Williamsburg Premium Outlets, Jamestown Settlement, and the Yorktown Battlefield Visitor Center are approximately 45 to 55 miles from the island. The picturesque town of Gloucester is an easy 30-minute drive with a variety of local shops and restaurants.

It is a beautiful rental home. The deck was perfect for our little dog, He could run from back to side and not get out and get lost. The table on the deck was great for eating outside. The chairs at the beach were very comfy. It is within 1.5 hours of Jamestown, Williamsburg, Yorktown and Berkeley Plantation. My husband caught at least one fish each day. Well stocked kitchen. Nice bathrooms.

Amazing long weekend on the bay! The house was clean, updated and had all the fun water toys you need. We enjoyed kayaking, biking and relaxing on the porch. The bald eagle and heron visits were extra special! We had a nice multigenerational stay on Gwynn’s.

If there is such a thing as perfection, this is the place! It is beyond beautiful! The dogs will attest to that with their contented gazes from the deck out to the Bay. And the Bay is right on the horizon from the cottage. Sunrise and sunset viewed from the deck, the porch, living room, kitchen and bedroom is a painting This cottage is so well appointed and well taken care of. It is obvious that the Host wants you to be comfortable and at home, and could not have been more accommodating or accessible. If you can imagine it, it has been anticipated and is there. What a delightful stay in every respect. We absolutely look forward to being able to stay at this wonderful cottage again!

We rented Daisy’s place for three nights. This house has a million dollar view and your own private beach. The house is decorated beautifully and the beds were comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to make a family meal. Mathews residents are among the friendliest people I’ve encountered. Everyone we saw gave a neighborly wave. The island is one of my favorite places to go to relax and unwind. There are great restaurants in the area or delivery options if cooking isn’t your thing. I wish I would have brought our bicycles, but the weather forecast lied and predicted rain everyday. It only rained one evening. Daisy was very accommodating and responded right away when I had a question upon check in. We look forward to returning next year. Thank you Daisy!

We had a fantastic time at this vacation rental with my wife and kids. The house was immaculate and perfectly suited for a family getaway. It provided everything we needed for an enjoyable week at the beach, including beach chairs, sand toys, umbrellas, and all the essentials for water fun. We absolutely loved our stay! This beach house was spotlessly clean, organized, and incredibly well stocked with everything you could possibly need for a beach vacation. The house had everything we needed, and the host even provided thoughtful extras like spices for cooking, toiletries, sunscreen and bug spray, first aid, games, puzzles, beach gear, and toys for the kids. It truly felt like they had thought of everything.The location was perfect—right on the beach, with warm, calm water that was ideal for our young children. On a windy day, we even got some bigger waves that made for exciting boogie boarding and kayaking. We loved having so many ways to enjoy the beach right outside our door.The setting was also wonderfully private and peaceful, with beautiful wildlife all around. We were lucky enough to see dolphins, and thankfully didn’t encounter any sea nettles during our stay!This was the kind of vacation home that makes a family beach trip easy and relaxing. Beautiful location, incredibly clean, exceptionally well stocked, peaceful, and perfect for families with young kids. Also, the host is great at responding to messages. We would absolutely stay here again!

Wonderful stay!

This was our first time to Gywnn Island and won’t be our last! The house is gorgeous and the owner has thought of everything that you would need. You feel like you have the whole area to yourself, even with the RV park next door you really didn’t notice it. It’s a fantastic trip to get away from the busy everyday things and slow down!

The property was exceptional! Clearly the owner put a great deal of thought into furnishing the home and provided every possible amenity. We enjoyed kayaking in the Chesapeake from our private beach and relaxing on the spacious deck. Gwynn's Island and the neighboring towns of Mathews, Gloucester and Kilmarnock were charming. We're already planning to return next October. Thank you ... it was a perfect vacation!

A little piece of Heaven

This was a superb holiday ... The cottage was delightful, neat and orderly with spectacular views of the Chesapeake Bay ! We had our own private beach , with nice sturdy chairs and soft white sand. It was lovely just sitting, reading on the beach and watching all the wonderful wildlife .... a very special place !

Second Perfect Stay

Our second year vacationing at Daisy's beautiful home. The house is appointed with everything you could need and more. Beautifully and comfortably appointed. The location is convenient to so much, but you still feel glorious privacy. Daisy is prompt an to communicate with, and makes the hole stay seamless. Would book it again for next if it wasn't already full.
