River House! Right on the banks of the Nehalem with creeks on both sides. Our location is just a mile off of Hwy 26 and 22 miles from the coast (Canon Beach and Seaside), but we have nicer weather here with swimming and fishing right on the property. Our location is close to neighbors and a small grocery, but once in the house you will be facing the river for fishing and swimming. There is a little cottage that we live in off and on, so you might see my wife and I puttering around.
The space
There are a couple of options for outdoor barbecues and lots of outdoor seating on the deck by the house and on the patio down by the river. Indoors we have two full-size living rooms in addition to the 3 bedrooms. The kitchen is large with a dining table that seats 8.
COVID INFO: We are taking extra precautions in order to increase all of our health safety. There is now always a buffer of one day between guests, and we are now finalizing our cleaning process with a complete sanitization procedure. We considered raising the cleaning fee, but decided instead to make a compromise and ask our guests to please do a few things on checkout day to help us all stay safe.
Guest access
You will have access to the entire house. If only two people are staying then we usually close the downstairs bedrooms, however the downstairs half-bath is still accessible. You will also have access to the great outdoors of course, but please watch your step as there are a lot of steep drop offs into the water!
Other things to note
The WiFi connection is not quite broadband. It utilizes a cel phone chip and does OK, but not really up to the task of streaming movies, etc. Can be especially slow on weekends. Cellular phone service is pretty decent for Cricket, AT&T and Verizon. Sprint and T-Mobile do not work well here.
There is a general store just a mile from here that manages to stock a little of everything and has better cel reception. They also have a gas station, restaurant, lounge and inn. The Elderberry Inn is great if you have additional guests. Camp 18 is another good option for food just 4 miles west.
Getting down to the river is a matter of walking down about 25 steps that feature a good sturdy handrail. There is a railing down there with another gate to access the river. Other areas of the property are fairly wild and can present risks for unattended children. There are some steep drop offs that are sometimes hidden by the brush, so please keep this in mind when exploring.
