As a group of tight knit pals who love to surf fish, we don't need much...but Tony and Co. saw to it that all our needs were met. House is great, views are fantastic, location is stellar. We hope use Diamond Shells again.

Best time in the OBX!

Diamond Shells was the perfect house for our long weekend getaway. Tony is a fantastic host & had great communication before and during our stay. House has gorgeous views of the water, we loved waking up and watching the sunrise and we were able to spot some dolphins. It’s in a great location to many locally recommended spots as well. Thanks for having us Tony, we look forward to our next visit!

Awesome Family Vacation

We had an incredible week at the beach! The view was amazing, the walk to the beach was short enough for our 10, 8 and 6 yo to make easily, there was plenty of space for our family of 5 plus my brother and sister and their spouses, the house was clean, we saw fireworks off the pier from the beach, the owner messaged us throughout the trip to make sure we had everything we needed, and the beach was in a secluded area so it wasn’t crowded at all-even on 4th of July week. We would love to come back next year!

Great Week In OBX

The house was just what we were looking for and only steps to the beach. We traveled with a 1 year old and wanted something where we could easily go to/from the house and the beach. Diamond Shoals did not disappoint. Unobstructed ocean views from the main living room/kitchen level on a quiet side street with only 3 homes. Only people on the beach were other renters/homeowners in adjacent homes so we had our pick of any spot we wanted. The owner (Tony) checked in to make sure things were going well and responded promptly. If you’re looking for a private, beachfront home, this is just the place. Don’t forget to try Duck Donuts, visit the Avon pier and drive on the beach at the ORV access, all within a mile of the house.

Great Beach House, Avon is a great beach town.

This was our first time to OBX. What my wife and I loved about Avon is that it’s not overly commercialized, so laid back, clean, and what is there, is quality. Then you add in staying at Diamond Shells and it was a perfect first OBX trip and perfect house to stay in! Diamond Shells was great for us! The sunrises were awesome, the beach is so secluded that if you have a young family and want space, Avon and diamond shells is for you. The path behind the home has a sign that states it’s protected and we followed the instructions to the steps about 500 feet away. The other houses around us used the path, but we close to respect the land. Great nature and wildlife, a deer came in the evenings on the protected dune to graze. The kitchen is more than adequate IMO for a beach house, and all bathrooms were cleanly and functioning properly. The outdoor shower was perfect and worked as intended and there is also a large garden hose to use as well. Air conditioning worked well and there is a condenser unit for the main living floor(bedrooms) and the kitchen/family room (top of home) so we were quite comfortable. You’re less than 800 yards from Food Lion, a good Italian/pizza place (Greta’s), and a gas station is about 200 yards from the house. The pool is less than a mile down the road and was very clean, not full, and great to have part of your rental with Diamond Shells! You’re allowed to take a cooler and food We would definitely recommend staying here!

Beautiful views of the ocean from the family room and dining room. Really enjoyed the hot/cold enclosed outdoor shower. Easy to have dogs along with us. Great vacation spot!

Worth the money

We really enjoyed our stay ! 2 things I’d change if I’d look for another vacation rental is look for one with out pets allowed as we encountered a lot of pet hair.That being said we knew it allowed pets when we booked . Loved the family oriented atmosphere and easy beach access!

High School Girls Week

We had a wonderful relaxing time. Loved that the house was ON the beach, we spent a lot of time walking the beach. We had 6 people and there was plenty of room inside and out on the deck. Good amenities too. We explored the area, found many great restaurants (ate seafood everyday!), awesome coffee shops and endless areas to visit. Property would be great for families too.

Spring Break

Great trip! The house is located on the ocean with amazing views. We spent most days on the beach fishing and swimming. We would rent again! Oh, and the dogs loved it. Pet friendly and quiet.

Relaxing and comfortable stay-

Property has a great view. Quiet neighborhood is just what we were looking for! The decking looked new and everything was solid even in the wind. The host was very responsive when we ran into a little problem with technology. The only recommendation I could make would be when you're ready to replace the deck furniture, get something higher so you can see over the railing and enjoy the ocean view in its.emtireity. more c more.complet

perfect for family vacation

We couldn’t have asked for a better location for our yearly trip to Avon. The home was clean, well stocked with basic needs (hangers, kitchen supplies, toilet paper, linens, pillows), and provided quiet and relaxing beach days. The walking path through the dunes to the sand was a bit brutal but nothing we couldn’t handle. The host was easy to communicate with and helped resolve a minor cable issue quickly. The view from the back deck can’t be beat. We would definitely stay again.

Relaxation

The house was great for our group of 7. It was very clean. The owner was great about communicating with us. There are lots of stairs and climbing the dunes to the beach aren’t for the faint of heart, but the beach was almost always quiet and serene. We loved our stay and would definitely come back.

Thanksgiving 2024

The property was beautiful and big enough for 9 people (7 adults and 2 children). The kitchen it well stocked. We were excited to see the toaster over and multiple 12cup coffee pots. We didn't use the dishwasher because we used more paper products. We did notice the kitchen sink cabinet had water in it and the owner was quick to respond about having it corrected. We would stay again!

Relaxing beach stay

The kitchen was well stocked and the location was fabulous. We had the beach almost to ourselves for long beautiful walks. The neighborhood was quiet. If you have someone who does not navigate stairs well this property wouldn’t be for you.

Lifetime OBX'rs! My wife Jamie is an avid sheller and if left to her own devices would meander on the beach in search of that ever elusive perfect conch until well after the sun sets. I enjoy relaxing on the beach by day and staring up at the clear starry sky at night. Our son Quinton mostly enjoys spending his time knocking down anything I build in the sand and talking about dinosaurs.

Varför värden valde detta boende

Owning a piece of the outer banks has been a dream for Jamie and I. While we have spent most of our summers in Buxton, the frequent flooding in that area deterred us from purchasing property there. Our new house Diamond Shells in Avon is perfectly situated on an elevated plot of land in a private area of the beach with plenty of dunes on the ocean side to protect the home from the mighty Atlantic surf.

In the south of Avon there are not many other homes in the immediate vicinity. Other areas of the outer banks have dozens of homes all sharing the same beach front. Diamond Shells is well positioned to enjoy an expansive and relatively private beachfront.
