Kaka Cottage på Nikau Heights ligger inbäddat i bushen med fantastisk havsutsikt och en 5-10 minuters promenad till Tryphenas fantastiska bekvämligheter på den vackra Pah-stranden, Wild Rose Cafe, Currach Irish Pub och en fantastisk allmän butik. Kaka Cottage levereras väl för självhushåll och har 12 volt solenergi för belysning och kylning och gas för matlagning och vattenvärme.

Kaka Cottage är uppkallad efter den infödda papegojan (Kaka) som är en vanlig besökare i området.

Just Great

Kaka Cottage was a great place to stay. It was hidden away in the bush but still had a great view over Tryphena Harbour. It was perfectly clean, had everything we needed and everything worked. The owner, Janet, was very welcoming and helpful and we just loved the 4 nights that we stayed there. If we visit Great Barrier Island we will definitely stay at Kaka Cottage.

Surrounded by nature

A great spot to get away and be immersed with life on Great Barrier. Close to pub, cafe, shop and sports club. Walk up the drive does require a bit of fitness (and better knees than mine 😆). Lots of native birds around. Nice views. safe calm beaches nearby. Definitely recommend, if you can cope with the lack of mobile and internet coverage.

High in the treetops

Lovely views nice and close to beach and cafe and shops. Lovely relaxing time. Had a small issue with hot water but resolved very quickly and didn’t cause any disruption to our enjoyment.

Great bush location

Excellent place to stay- in middle of bush, yet close to centre of town. Had everything needed. Only negative was lack of any phone coverage or internet- had to drive into town to get those. Great communication from host. Good value.

Loved the stay

The place was tastefully decorated, super tidy and had everything we needed for our stay. Loved the board games, the occasional visits of Kaka and many other amazing birds. The view was superb. Would love to stay here again upon our next visit.

Amazing escape!!

Absolutely loved our stay, thank you so much! A very magical place with a beautiful setting and views, the cottage and the magic of the island in general allowed us to both completely relax and recharge. Despite a week long lockdown being announced the evening we arrived, we still had a fantastic holiday and couldn't have dreamed of a better place to be isolated... We will be back!!

Perfect little hideaway

If your looking to escape and switch off, the is the perfect place. Kaka cottage is tucked in amongst the tree tops with lovely views of Tryphena. The cottage has everything you need and is comfy and cosy. The pictures dont do it justice! Janet is a friendly host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Hopefully be back one day soon!

Perfect place for a weekend

We stayed in Kaka cottage for a 3 night trip. Its a perfect location just a short walk into tryphena for the shop and pub, but up in the hill so you have an amazing view and complete privacy. Would definately stay again

Enjoyed our stay in the cottage. Beautiful view and well located on the island. Only unfortunate interruption was residents at Kereru Cottage who had some visitor that drove very noisy motorbike right up path to their cottage several times, including in the middle of the night.

Quiet & Cosy

We have a lovely relaxed stay in Kaka Cottage. The view is great over Tryphena Bay and of the starry sky. The cottage was basic but cosy (even in winter once we had the gas heater sorted!) and had all the hot water & charging power we needed. The owners were great & very helpful. Definitely recommend & would stay there again.
