Artist's Retreat | Stay Waiheke
Summary:
With panoramic sea views and light-filled living, Artistâs Retreat by Stay Waiheke combines modern comfort with easy island living, the kind of place that feels like a holiday the moment you arrive.
The Space:
Artistâs Retreat by Stay Waiheke feels instantly easy. The living, dining, and kitchen areas share one bright, social space, designed for cooking, gathering, and slowing down together.
The open plan kitchen is fully equipped and beautifully laid out, the kind of space that makes cooking enjoyable. Cook, chat, pour a drink, and step straight out to the deck for dinner under the sky. Bedrooms are relaxed and airy, with the master perfectly positioned so you can open your eyes each morning to the ocean beyond, deciding whether itâs a beach day, a slow breakfast, or a wander down to one of the vineyards nearby. The master also includes a private ensuite for an added touch of comfort.
The second bedroom includes a sofa, queen bed, plus a single bed with a pull-out trundle beneath, perfect for kids or friends sharing the space.
Itâs modern island living made simple, bright, breezy, and ready for a trip you wont easy forget.

1 Ă king bedroom â peaceful, surrounded by bush and natural light
Bathrooms: 1
Parking: On-site parking available for 1 vehicle
Guest Access:
The retreat is all yours, the entire home, deck, and garden area. Thereâs parking at the property, and the beach is just down the hill.
Check-in is from 2pm, and check-out is 10:30am. Early or late check-ins may be available for an additional cost, depending on bookings either side.
The Neighborhood:
Artistâs Retreat by Stay Waiheke sits quietly between Onetangi and Palm Beach, surrounded by lush native bush and salty sea air. Itâs close to everything, yet peaceful enough that the only sounds are birds in the trees and the distant roll of the tide.
Itâs just a 10-minute walk down to Onetangi Beach, a gentle, scenic stroll through quiet residential roads if youâd rather not drive. Once there, you can swim, wander the long stretch of sand, or enjoy brunch at Charlie Farleyâs, a true local favourite. Youâre also just a short drive or bus ride from some of the islandâs top vineyards, including Tantalus, Stonyridge, and Te Motu, perfect for long lunches and wine tastings under the vines.
The local bus stop is about a 9-minute walk away on Sea View Road, connecting you easily to Oneroa, Palm Beach, and the ferry terminal. Stop in at The Heke brewery a favourite local spot for craft beer and whisky, or enjoy their Friday Sundowner DJ sessions from 4 to 7 pm. The bus stops right outside the venue, no excuses. Or for something different spend the afternoon at EcoZip Adventures, soaring above native bush with sweeping coastal views.
Wherever you go, the island rhythm stays the same, relaxed, local, and easy.
Getting Around:
Youâre close to everything here. The local bus stop on Sea View Road links easily to Onetangi, Palm Beach, Oneroa Village, and the ferry. Most of the islandâs well-known wineries, including Stonyridge, Tantalus and Te Motu, sit right along the route, so you can ride, taste and wander without needing a car.
Thereâs parking at the property if you do drive, and e-bikes or scooters are a fun, easy way to explore. Waiheke Island is 20 kilometres long, and most of our homes sit within the first 10 kilometres. Taxis are available but can be pricey, so itâs worth planning ahead, or just catching the bus like a local.
Interaction with Guests:
The Stay Waiheke team are locals who love this island and are always happy to help. Weâre available seven days a week from 8:30 am to 5 pm, and for emergencies only, thereâs an after-hours number so youâre always covered.
