Secluded Ozarks Bunk House Cabin at Old Desperado Ranch

Experience complete serenity in the middle of the beautiful Ozark Mountains near some of the clearest rivers and streams. Whether you just want a quiet get away to take in all nature has to offer or you want to float, kayak, trail ride, hike, fish, boat, sxs ride, explore beautiful springs, search for the wild horse herds or just do nothing! For same-day arrival bookings, please inquire directly as it may show unavailable even though it is! We offer horse stalls ($10/nt) for BYOH Trailriders. We also offer guided rides for BYOH horses guests for an Add’l charge so you can sit back and relax and enjoy the area and not worry about getting lost. We also offer trailrides through the beautiful hills, valleys and creeks of the area. You may even get a sighting of the wild horses! Book The Bunk House cabin at Old Desperado Ranch. The Bunk House will be a studio type cabin that has a queen bunk bed (twin over top) complete with all linens, that includes a twin futon as well. It is best suited for a couple and children. The cabin will have a full kitchen stocked with everything you need to cook your meals (minus the food). The kitchen has microwave, coffee pot w/ complimentary coffee, toaster, crock pot, dishes, pots & pans, cooking and eating utensils and more! It also has a beautiful full bathroom including towels. There is a lovely sitting porch and a spacious deck area as well overlooking the creek. The cabin has a fire pit and BBQ grill. We also have horse stalls available to rent for your horses! Be sure to check out our other listings - The Ranch House & The Tiny House. Please be sure to review the cancellation policy and date changes also require a 30 day notice and there are no refunds for early departures. ABSOLUTELY ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ILLEGAL DRUG USE ANYWHERE ON THE PROPERTY. YOU WILL BE MADE TO LEAVE AND FORFEIT SECURITY DEPOSIT.

The Bunkhouse was nice. Pretty small but big enough for 2 adults. I wouldn’t try to squeeze anyone else in. Futon is very small. Unfortunately we lost power every time it rained & numerous power surges all week long. It was pitch black when out but luckily we had two small flashlights to help us find our way around. I recommend the host put a lantern or something in the cabin or at least offer some sort of light if power goes out. We had trouble with the coded lock on the door. Got locked out. No grill or picnic table was located by our cabin. We had very little interaction with host. Overall it was a cute cabin. It was clean. The Whiskey Saloon was never open. Their 3 dogs were sweethearts. The National Riverway is absolutely gorgeous!

Scott and Lisa were great hosts. They were very responsive and I enjoyed talking with each of them while we were there. We were concerned about driving their in our Tesla but they have a couple of RV Hookups right at the cabin that allowed us to quickly charge (about 30 miles of range for each hour), which gave us peace of mind and got us back on the road with no issues. Thank you guys.

Personal retreat

Despite the constant, drenching rain, I enjoyed my quiet solitude retreat. The picture made me think it was more isolated than it is (there are other cabins and the trail-riding stables right across the road), but given the weather and time of year, I pretty much had the place to myself. The cabin itself is tiny, but very clean and well supplied. The hosts are very friendly and responsive and I would highly recommend if you’re in the area. The dirt road in May be a little intimidating for a small car, but was no problem for my Outback, despite the rainy conditions and minor rain runoff damage.

Short River Run

We enjoyed our adventure in the Missouri Ozarks so much! So many waterways to see and saw the Wild Horses twice and I got to check that off my bucket list! The property was clean and comfortable and the hosts showed their hospitality, they are very friendly and accommodating! We hope to come back with our horses sometime in Fall. Thank you for sharing your beautiful place with us!

4th of July

Property was the cleanest the interior design and decor were the best I have ever stayed at in the Eminence area. Scott and Lisa were great hosts and the additional amenity's of the new Whisky River Bar along with food from Shortys Rolling Grill not to mention horseback riding and horse stalls for your own really make this a one stop destination. We will back.

Peaceful Getaway

Our overall immediate impression was how clean and well organized everything was in such a tiny spot. We stayed at the Bunk House. It had a large back deck. When sitting there we could see the horses and spent much time just watching them graze. So quiet and serene! It is definitely for people who want to escape to the country life! You are not totally out in the woods, though, because Eminence is not too far away. We will definitely be back! We will probably try one of the other cabins as we had just a little bit of trouble because, as seniors, we had a little trouble getting in and out of the bunk bed. All in all, it is a wonderful place and we have nothing but appreciation for Lisa and Scott and their hospitality! Thank you so much, we’ll be back!

Great escape

The location was isolated from crowds with peaceful evenings. The cabin was perfect for my stay with a full kitchen, television, temperature controlled environment, washer and dryer, and full bath.
