Sugar Dunes in Cottages at Romar is your home away from home in Orange Beach, AL! Located in a charming gated community right on the Gulf, this quaint coastal cottage leaves nothing to be desired. Detailed with stunning decor and comfortable amenities our cottage is perfect for a family vacation or a couples beach getaway.

This 2 story home features 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, a loft with bunks, and a sleeper sofa that will accommodate 8 people. The open concept kitchen is fully equipped, with upgraded appliances, and bar seating for four. The dining table seats 6 and the living room seats 7 comfortably. The main floor and upper level feature a walkout deck with patio furniture. The cottage also features an outdoor shower.

Located steps from the beautiful zero entry saltwater lagoon pool and boardwalk to Alabama's sugar sand beach. You can also enjoy a fire pit on those chilly nights.

Had a wonderful time. We normally stay in a condo but decided to try a house instead. Pool was great and the access to the beach was so convenient. Would definitely come back.

Great Place to Stay

Our 2nd year to stay at Sugar Dunes. We love it! We may try for a 3-peat next summer. Easy check in and check out process, beach area not over crowded and location is great.

The house was clean, and there were a good amount of bedding and towels for us to use. Having some beach towels in addition to the bath towels would have been nice as well. Some areas seemed in need of attention – a lamp missing a prong which was plugged in and possibly a fire hazard, and the showerhead in the master bathroom needs replacing. The house itself was spacious and comfortable, and we very much enjoyed our stay.

Our Happy Place

This was our second stay at the cottage and our family had a wonderful time! The house is so lovely and convenient. It functions perfectly for our family of 4. The boys loved the bunk beds! We love the community and the super easy short walk to the beach. Very safe area. The house is clean and has everything you need! Such a great set up. Our host is totally on top of it. Her response time is unmatched. It’s really a gem of a place! We love it here!

Nice home, but noisy and service items were like 2 star hotel

The traffic noise was very loud and there wasn't any white noise devices so we had to go buy something from WalMart to drown out the noise so we could sleep. There are no curtains, only blinds that don't block the light, so you can't sleep in on vacation because of the light coming in very early. The towels were dollar store towels and would not even dry you off. We paid a lot of money for luxury - they did not take any pride in the experience. The cookware was trash and toxic. The TVs in the bedrooms did not have range to work off the router and no one emailed us back to let us know how to get the TVs to work (we emailed twice). They expect a lot of you to take out the trash, strip the sheets (which were also dollar store sheets and blankets that slipped off the bed because of the poor quality). The furniture was stained and looked dirty. Not worth what they are charging. Sorry to say. Also, the beach area is groomed better in other places we have stayed in Orange Beach. We were pretty bummed out for the money we paid.

Family Time

Overall, this property was very nice, exactly as pictured on the VRBO site. We were a little disappointed in a few things that didn’t majorly effect our stay. One thing was that none of the tvs worked in any of the rooms except the living room. We were also disappointed to learn after arriving that the beach access within the neighborhood was closed for repairs during our beach days. We could still access the beach, but having stayed in Cottages at Romar before, we booked this location because of its access to the beach. Again, our stay was wonderful and the home is beautiful and we still enjoyed our stay!

Great Place!

We have stayed at the Cottages at Romar, but this is our first time staying at this cottage. It was exactly like pictures and great layout. Location is great! Kitchen is not fully stocked with cooking supplies- so prepare for that (no baking sheets, one skillet, and limited utensils). We would definitely stay again!

Family beach trip

Summer Vaca With Friends

Cottages at Romar are always a favorite of ours. This was the first time staying in this particular home. Beautifully decorated and a perfect location. The beds were so comfortable. I would highly recommend taking extra household items such as toilet paper, paper towel, trash bags, and dish soap as there are not any extra. Other than that, everything is set up for a perfect stay.

Incredible location!

Great time at Sugar Dunes

We stayed for a week June 24-July 1. Four adults and two kids. This property was perfect for us, was in great shape and very clean, had all the necessary amenities if you wanted to cook at the house, and is in a great location just a short walk on the boardwalk to the beach or to the community pool. Cathy was a great host and was quick to respond to any questions, and check in was a breeze. Overall a fabulous stay and will book again if it fits our needs at that time.

Repeat Stay

This was our third time staying at this property and we've always been completely satisfied! Great communication with property manager about check-in and even some local information throughout out stay. The size of this home is perfect for our family of 5, and the location is great with easy ability to walk to the beach and close access to the neighborhood pool. My kids ask to stay at this same place year after year.
