The Withlacoochee Trail is part of Florida’s Rails to Trails system, and is the longest paved rail trail in Florida at 46 miles, and is mostly shaded.
Three miles away, downtown Inverness is a quaint small town with restaurants, sidewalk seating, and live music. After dinner, take a stroll around Courthouse Square, grab an ice cream from one of the two ice cream parlors, catch a movie at The Valerie, or walk over to Cooter Pond Park where there are walkways over the water, a large fountain, and the opportunity to see alligators, turtles, and other wildlife. Or bring your fishing pole to do a little bass or bluegill fishing.
