Quintessential Riverfront Montana Log Home Experience
*****We have the winter blocked out, but feel free to inquire if you are interested in winter dates, weather permitting we may be able to host your stay. There is a new garage on the front of the property (photos of change forthcoming). Please noteâŠThis structure is not included in the spaces available to guests. We will continue through 2024, keeping a day vacant between guest stays. This helps ensure the health, safety and well being for you, our guests and our cleaning staff. We look forward to hosting you for your Montana adventure. Please do not hesitate to inquire and ask questions to make certain we are the right property for you. Cheers! Eric & Deborah*****
Welcome to the Claymore. This Amish built log home is a work of art all unto itself. This tastefully decorated home is ready for your romantic escape or your quiet and restful vacation to recharge your batteries. High speed internet makes it a good choice for extended stay work-cations. It is a world away from the every day but only 7 miles to town. Just steps away from the gorgeous green waters of the Kootenai River where you can catch your own supper or simply relax and watch the river float by. The cooks kitchen is ready to save you trips out for meals...this is our part time home so it is fairly well equipped for quick & easy meals, baking and even seven course dining nights. The master has a king size bed with shower en suite. The secondary bedroom has a luxurious queen. There is a reading nook with books, dvds and adult board games in the main hall, as well as the centrally located laundry closet and second bathroom with an antique tub for soaking away the effects of a day of play in this beautiful corner of Montana. The loft has two twin beds and a view of the river as well. Fast 50 down/50 up wifi powers up all your devices, log into your streaming services on any of the 3 smart tvs...or go old school with one of our many dvds. (Work-cation? Internet up to 500 down/50 up available with 3 days notice for added fee). There is a picnic table on the river bank for dining alfresco. Covered porches on the front and back of the house are perfect for morning coffee and conversation or evening wine and appetizers. Sleeping in late is one of our favorite things so both bedrooms have blackout drapes to combat the early appearance of the summer sun. This house is perfect at recharging your batteries and reconnecting with your spouse...we think there is magic in it.
The home is set up for you, our guests. You will not find closets and drawers filled with our personal belongingsâŠjust empty space for yours.
This home is on a 1.13 acre private lot. There are quiet retired neighbors on both sides but it remains quite private. The area is semi-residential in feel with quality homes but it is right at the edge of Montanaâs wilderness. You will see wildlife all around during the day. Deer, bighorn sheep, turkeys, chipmunks, geese, ducks will be seen most daysâŠright in the yard. There are multitudes of birds, eagles, hawks and bats as well. We ask that you keep doors closed so critters do not get in. There are other animals we have not seen in our yard but have found âevidenceâ left behindâŠincluding bear, mountain cats, wolves, moose, porcupines, raccoons, coyotes. We recommend situational awareness at all times while in Montana.
There is a Montana Heritage Trail just at the end of our roadâŠBighorn Trail #42. It is approx 4.5 miles long tracking right along the rivers edge. It continues as far as the Kootenai Falls so no need to drive there although the last 0.8 miles is a rather primitive talus slope and not the young or the physically challenged. We will not cross it ourselvesâŠtoo scary. See photo #50 in our listing for trail specifics, however the short description is 3.8 miles of is an easy and fairly level hike on crushed gravel equivalent to a rural driveway, high use, open year round and suitable for most hikers, bikers and photographers. The best part is you can begin right from the house!
What we love about this homeâŠwhy we own it: peaceful, quiet, serene, immersion into nature, wildlife in our yard, quality of local neighbors, fresh air, beauty of the home, beauty of the river (Eric grew up here but I remember saying in 2007 on my first trip to Libby..,â itâs the most beautiful river Iâve ever seenâŠI canât believe the color of the waterâ), the ability to calm down from our Seattle lives and just leave it behind for a while. Iâm sure the place will affect your soul, spirit and mind too.
With everything being so tenuous in our modern world, we strongly advise guests secure a âCancel for any reasonâ travel insurance policy. Om vÀrden
Eric & Deborah Alexander Àr vÀrd

We are square pegs trying to fit into our round holesâŠwe must exist in the city but long to run away to Libby every chance we getâŠitâs in our souls now. Eric grew up here in Libby. His family moved to Washington when he was 12 and he has forever missed it. We spent 10 years scouring property listings and one Friday he called me at work to say âcome home, pack a bag, I found the houseâ. Here we are, here it isâŠa dream come true for us.
Varför vÀrden valde detta boende
What we love about this homeâŠwhy we own it: peaceful, quiet, serene, immersion into nature, wildlife in our yard, quality of neighborhood and our lovely neighbors, fresh air, beauty of the home, beauty of the river (Eric grew up here but I remember saying in 2007 on my first trip to Libby..,â itâs the most beautiful river Iâve ever seenâŠI canât believe the color of the waterâ), the ability to calm down from our Seattle lives and just leave it behind for a while. Vad som gör detta boende unikt
So many of us dream of having a log home, a âtree houseâ for grownups, but too often life gets in the way of those secret dreams. We are so in love with our home, but not being able to be there full time yet, we really want to share it with you, to share the experience and magic of this gorgeous corner of Montana. It will give you a chance to connect with your loved ones, family and friends like you just cannot do anywhere else. The home and property naturally calms you with its magic. I swear my blood pressure drops just driving into the driveway. The simple act of sitting on the porch, sipping morning coffee or evening wine provides you with the ever present moving picture of MontanaâŠdeer, big horn sheep, turkeys just grazing on through the yard. Itâs also not uncommon to open the door find a mama and her new fawn(s) lying about. Last summer (â21) a mama deer had triplets with herâŠI have seen the triplets this year (â22) too, just not so tiny any more. This summer she kicked the big kids out and has two new baby fawns to obsess over. They have been napping in our tall grass each day. The chipmunks and ground squirrels are comical to watch and are not afraid to âyellâ at you or give you a talking down when they are perturbed at your presence. They seem to enjoy watching me as much as I do them. The blue ribbon Kootenai River provides some of the best fishing in the region and you can enjoy that just steps from the house. We can usually count on getting some action just from the bank. However, boating still remains the best chance of catching prize sized fish. There are plenty of guides in the area if you donât bring your own boat. A previous guest spoke very highly of his day with the Linehanâs guideâŠhe had a 17 fish day and said he ended the day a better fishermanâŠthat it was worth the money spent. You can get your license online or stop into the sports store when you get here. How often will you be able to have the chance to catch your dinner?
