The house is old-fashioned, smells of damp and only has air-conditioning in one room.Expect to pay 250 Euros or so extra on top of the advertised price if you want bed sheets and kitchen towels supplied and to pay for the agency to clean the house when you are finished. Not sure if that's a normal French thing but it feels weird to us, when you are already paying thousands to rent the house. Also expect to be checked in and out of the house like a naughty student to see if they want to retain your deposit! The upstairs bedroom is rather small and cramped and, as it is under the roof with no aircon, becomes very hot in warm weather. It is so small that, with the beds apart (as twin beds) you can't open the windows properly. All beds furniture are plain, basic and not super comfy. The kitchen is small and dark with an old cooker and small microwave.Outside space is quite good, the pool is OK and there is table tennis and a few tables to eat out at.Andernos les Bains is a nice quiet little town. It has a lovely covered market, some nice gift shops and is a good base to explore Arcachon, Cap Ferret and Bordeaux. You need a car to stay here: the house is about 35 minutes walk through suburbs away from the town centre, or 10 minutes from the local shop bakery. There is a beach 20 minutes walk away which is muddy at low tide but safe for small kids to play with small waves. The beaches on Cap Ferret are spectacular and great for surfing or splashing in the waves.
