Enchanted Forest Studio next to Volcanoes NP

The spacious Enchanted Forest Studio is named for the beautiful native Hawaiian rainforest, our home is nestled in. When you see the amazing tree ferns here you will indeed know why we call it an enchanted forest experience.

The private upstairs Studio, located away from the main house, provides a bird's eye view into the forest. The unit has a private bath with an extra-large shower, an outdoor balcony, a corner fireplace, small refrigerator and a single burner electric stove, toaster, rice maker, and electric kettle. Coffee and coffee maker are also provided along with bottled water, fruit drinks, and some snacks. Unit features a SMART TV and a DVD player. The centerpiece of the Enchanted Forest Studio is a dream -the -night- away King bed adorned with tropical bedding. There is a twin day bed with trundle and a pack n play. This is a perfect room for a romantic couple, friends traveling together or a family with children. You will also have access to the gas grill (available on request) and patio furniture on the lanai for a relaxing evening listening to the sounds of the forest.

The name Enchanted Forest was appropriate. A one of a kind property.

Spectacular! Cozy, warm and very close to Volcanoes National Park. I’ll return again this spring.

Sarah was always quick with a reply to my texts and very friendly and helpful. The studio was bright and comfortable and we could drink coffee and watch birds from the deck. I was a little unsure of how such a small space could comfortably hold our family of four (we have a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old), but the kids loved their big, comfy beds! No set-up was required… just roll out the lower mattress and voilà! Bedtime! Overall, we had a lovely visit and only wished it could be longer.

Easy place to stay!

Nice and simple lodging with comfortable accommodations. The kitchen was sparsely stocked with cooking supplies and one has to wash in the bathroom sink, but it worked out just fine. The host was very nice and replies promptly to communications. Can't beat the location for visits to Volcano National Park. Thanks!

Awesome stay!

This was a wonderful room! Everything just as described with easy access. Water pressure for shower is a little low but is to be expected on the big island. Also this is on the second floor, which is nice for privacy but if you like hiking remember you still have to get up the stairs 😉. Again was a wonderful room with lots of great amenities!

Perfect short stay

We had a short stopover on the Big Island to visit Volcanoes NP. This location was excellent for us, lodging was clean and very comfortable (with a fireplace!), and our host was communicative and helpful. There were even snacks & drinks provided, and we got great food recommendations for out and about in town as well. Would stay here again!

We purchased the Lava Pond Lodge in early January 2021 and we are extremely excited for what this endeavor has instore for us. We are leaving the property for the most part unchanged and only making minor updates here and there. Why change a good thing if it is working, right?

During these uncertain times we are very COVID minded and echo the messaging on the Big Island. We are going to great lengths to keep our 'ohana safe and are Covid Compliant. As our guests you are a part of our ohana (family) and we want you to be comfortable and safe when you visit us.

Our goal is to continue to build onto the great reputation that the Lava Pond Lodge is known and adored for. Warm and friendly hosts, breath taking surrounds and convenient location to nearby sites. We are also looking at becoming closer with community and culture as we establish and grow our ohana on the Big Island. We support local businesses and will always give back where we can when we can.

Having visited the Big Island and the Lava Pond Lodge Bed & Breakfast in Volcano on our honeymoon we fell in love with Hawai'i and the property and community.

Lava Pond Lodge Bed & Breakfast is located in the storybook village of Volcano Hawai'i, a community of artists, writers and scientists. We are secluded in the forest yet just 5 minutes from the entrance of Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park with its spectacular hiking trails, scenic vistas and lava viewing. Volcano is 27 miles from the Hilo airport and 96 miles from Kailua- Kona.

While the biggest attraction to the area is certainly Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park there are also many other reasons to visit this area of the big island. The rainforest makes this a very unique area. Visit the Volcano Art Center Gallery and catch a live hula performance. Witness the magic of authentic native Hawaiian dance and storytelling. Choose a class from their schedule of creative arts workshops, writing, Hawaiian culture & nature workshops for all ages.

We suggest wine tasting at the Volcano Winery, a trip to Rainbow Falls, a 80” tall waterfall, exploring the Kaumana Caves, enjoy the amazing views of the ocean and valley from Waipi'o lookout or hiking on Mauna Kea. One of our favorite weekend activities is seeing the Sea Turtles at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach which is a 38 minute drive from the lodge. Hilo also offers helicopter rides to view the beauty of the Island from above. I highly recommend the once-in-a-lifetime open door helicopter adventure.
