Well kept property as advertised- great pool setup and walkable to the beach (you do have to cross the main street but it is usually not too busy). Hosts were very responsive and added nice touches throughout the house to make it more welcoming. We would definitely rent here again.

The house checks every box - and even if there is a small oversight or hiccup, the owners are right on top of it. The house has everything and the beds are extremely comfortable. I highly recommend this home for anyone considering it.

Always feels like home away from home

We've been coming here for years now, and our family loves this place. This is our home away from home. Great care is taken to make sure our stay is stress free. Absolutely Perfect!

Our family completed a wonderful week of celebration at the Whales-Tale (June 21-28, 2025). There were 11 of us ... our sons, daughter-in-laws, and 5 grandchildren ages 8-16. The house is immaculate, upscale, and has so many amenities available (read their site!). Check out the photos on Whales-Tale; the photos reflect reality, the house is perfect. This vacation home is spacious, inside and outside. Spaces where we could gather in our group of 11 and spaces to find a quiet spot to read. The kitchen has everything you could want for cooking if you don't want to take advantage of the many restaurants in the area. The beach is right across the street. Because this area of North Myrtle is mainly homes, not hotels, the beaches are not crowded. The kids had so much fun ... pool, beach, games inside galore (they had a monopoly game going for days!), ping pong, connect four, and more. The kids played, the adults relaxed. A perfect week in a perfect house.

Whale’s Tail is a wonderful property

I have rented more than 2 dozen beach houses over the years and I have to say Whale’s Tail is a real standout
 maybe the all-around best experience.When we arrived, we found a property that matched the list photos and description perfectly! There were no surprises except that everything WORKED! Which is not typically the case.The house was spotless and very well appointed. Everything a large group might need for a comfortable short or long stay is provided
 and then some. The “toys” provided for pool and beach activities was incredible.Shelly and Tom could not have been better hosts. Their communication was terrific. They even provided an app which shared an abundance of information about the house and the area. I highly recommend Whale’s Tail and would definitely rent again.

Gorgeous Home, Great Location, Perfect Family Getaway Spot

We just got back from a week long stay at this incredible home! Not only was the home exactly as pictured, but the location and attention to details were by far the best of any rental home we’ve ever experienced. There were pool toys, beach toys, board games, a fully equipped kitchen, and en suite bathrooms for every room. We had four kids with us and the house could have easily accommodated a second family. The open spaces were clean and comfortable - we especially loved all the beach/whale knickknacks!! The rules were very clear and easy to follow and allow for a well maintained property. Thanks again for welcoming us so warmly to your beautiful home!!

Vacation Rental Perfection

Whales Tale is hands down the best vacation rental I have ever booked. The house was absolute perfection. If you forgot something at home, it’s almost a certainty that the hosts would have you covered. Tom and Shelly were so responsive and easy to work with. They accommodated our early check in and allowed us to extend the reservation at a discounted rate. The location is ideal for every traveler, with numerous restaurants, bars and shops an easy walk, bike ride or drive away. Beach access is directly across the street, which could not be any more convenient. I would recommend Whales Tale to anyone looking for luxurious accommodations in a beautiful location.

Best House Ever!

We rented this home for an annual girls trip for our group that has been vacationing together for almost 10 years. The pictures do not do this house justice! The house was absolutely beautiful with all the amenities that you could possibly imagine. The proximity to the beach is incredible - literally right across the street. The home is also very close to shopping and restaurants. The home owners were so responsive and checked in frequently through email communication. The home guide they provide you was comprehensive and helped us understand how to work everything in the house from the pool, elevator, etc.. I was so impressed with their entire process and wish other home owners would adopt their method. The personal chef recommendation they gave us was also fantastic. I've rented a lot of homes through VRBO and have had some wonderful experiences. But this is the fist time that I can say the experience was absolutely perfect! Thank you for making this girls trip one of the best we've ever had! We will definitely stay again. :)

Whales Tale Exceeds Expectations

Our family just returned from an amazing stay at Whale's Tale. We had high expectations and this place was even better than advertised. This house is right across from a beach area that is uncrowded and offers room to spread out for fun in the sun. This house had excellent outdoor space and a great yard. There are 2 large decks on the front with views to the beach side great for relaxing. There is also a large back deck with a large dining table overlooking the pool. The patio area has tons of seating and a gas fireplace. There was a nice grill, outdoor shower and beach storage area (stocked with everything you could need). This house was amazing. The quality of the furniture, dishes, appliances, linens, etc. was really just leaps and bounds above what you would expect at rental. When they say just bring your suitcase they mean it. There were plenty of paper towels, toilet paper, detergent and everything else you could ask for from bath soap/shampoo to beach towels. They had true luxury touches like a coffee bar and charcuterie tray on arrival that really made this place feel different. This is the cleanest and best kept VRBO I have ever stayed at. It was spotless and nothing was in disrepair. The hosts were amazing. Easy to communicate with, attentive and seemed genuinely committed to ensuring that the guests had a good stay. Whale's Tale sets the standard for a luxury vacation rental at North Myrtle.

Amazing house in North Myrtle

I was lucky enough to see this listing back in January 2023 on Vrbo but then discovered I could book directly with Tom and Shelley. We were so excited to plan this trip and upon arrival the house was exactly as pictured in the listing. It is probably the best house we have ever booked in the last 10 years and we have done a lot of rentals. It was so nice after an 8 hour drive to have the snack board and water waiting for us. It also happened to be our 22nd anniversary the day we arrived and we were treated to some delicious bundt cakes! There is so much room in this house and to have every room with its own bathroom is phenomenal. The kitchen was well stocked when we wanted to cook. The beach access and beach amenities provided at the house were wonderful! We loved the pool and hot tub every day too! I could not recommend this house enough! We had an amazing week and would not hesitate to book again!

Another Great Trip

Little Piece of Heaven

We had a wonderful stay with our family of 4 generations. There was something for everyone. The kitchen had everything we needed to fix great meals. Beds were super comfortable. So much so my mom wanted to take hers home. Our granddaughter loved the infinity table and she and Papaw played lots of games. Ping pong table was fun and having the pool and hot tub were a special addition. Best mother's day ive ever spent! Thanks!

Large and Comfortable Vacation House for anything in Myrtle Beach

This property exceeded all expectation! We planned a golf trip for 12-16 people and this was a perfect location. The booking process was very easy. The owners even reached out to us with some questions to make sure we were good with the number of rooms (there plenty of space here!) and save us from penalties for canceling the reservation, there are alot of owners out there that wouldn't mind just taking the money, these people looked out for us. We received several emails with check in information, attractions in the area, contact information, etc that made the relay of information to the large group very easy. The communication was always excellent, we had questions answered and anything we needed looked at they resolved immediately. Upon arrival there is even an elevator to help bring up luggage and groceries. The kitchen is beautiful and even has a big coffee and tea station with cups, machines, hot water, sugar, etc. The fridge is huge and easy to fill with everything for a long stay. All the bedrooms had attached bathrooms and everything looked brand new! The beds are all especially comfortable, you'll have a nice relaxing sleep at this place. There is a whole play room with a ping pong table, lawn games, and plenty of beach chairs and stuff for the beach. The pool is very well kept and the hot tub is nice and toasty. There is an outdoor grill and nice patio furniture around the outside. The property is a few minute walk from the beach entrance (right across the street)

I must say; I really don’t want to spotlight this property - or give it the rave reviews it’s deserving because just like with anything
 that’s worth having is worth waiting
 and this is NOT what I want to do when trying to book this property again. The owners, are Amazing! The property, is truly as described
 if NOT better! The homeowners attention to detail - and hospitality is amongst the best I have ever experienced. There is nothing in this house I would change
 she has the best; the latest; and the most well appointed devices/appliances
. I left there thinking - she had to been watching every Home Improvement show there is when designing/decorating this house. The location, UNBELIEVABLE! The ocean is less than a 2 minute walk across the street and can be viewed from the front balconies of the home. However, due to the weather; we didn’t utilize the pool/spa however, they too are worthy of a 5 Star! I just can’t say enough
 even the charcuterie board and welcome basket was another hostess's delight! Please, do not book this property if you are NOT deserving of the BEST life has to offer.

A WHALE of a time!

Everything noted in the property description was spot on! Beautiful home with all the “extras” that make the rental a true 5* property. Everything was included: fully stocked kitchen to include kitchen supplies, spices, & paper products. Bedrooms and bathrooms were also stocked with electronic chargers, paper products, & grooming supplies. Bath, pool and beach towels were abundant. The grill was clean, & beach toys were fabulous (especially loved the wagon). Great location! The walk to the beach is less than 5 minutes and shopping is a 15 minute walk or 5 minute drive. Our adult children loved the abundance of outdoor and indoor games. Restaurants recommended on the property webpage also were spot on. We ate at 3 restaurants recommended and they were excellent. Thank you also for the special gifts provided. After the long drive, the charcuterie board, crackers and cold water was so thoughtful! Can’t say enough how fabulous our stay was. Luxury at the beach

This house was beautiful, very spacious, perfectly kept, pantries and cabinets stocked completely with everything you could possibly need for your whole time there, except, of course, your fresh groceries. So many modern amenities, an abundance of super cool things for the kids. Bikes and helmets for a ride to town or to the beach just across the street. Anything and everything you need for the beach, even the cart to get it there. The beach was clean and not crowded. A large pool for our party of 14, hot tub, fuel fire pit, bbq grill, outdoor games. Large back porch with furniture and large upper decks, with plenty of furniture, including a large table overlooking the pool area which we used for card games at night. Several boardwalk/carnival areas close by. The Luau at St. John’s Hotel 20 minutes away was wonderful, made the kids and adults very happy. The owners were kind and friendly, immediately responded to any question and were proactive in anticipating our every need. The whole gang agreed, this place was amazing. A perfect vacation.
