Older bay house with new bath down stairs on demand hot water heater, new water filtration system, WHOLE HOUSE DEHUMIDIFIER to take any dampness out of house being so close to the bay, also just had the cellar encspulated in plastic. This older captains house is in beautiful Corea Maine where you can relax. There are hiking trails, kayaking, sand beach mile from the house, Arcadia national park 4 miles away. Schoodic Point Winter Harbour next town away. There is also a bayfront snack bar across the street where you can get a fresh brewed coffee or favorite seafood dish.
The downstairs bath has been recently remodeled top to bottom, upstairs bedrooms have new hardwood floors as with the upstairs hallway and downstairs hallway also. New air conditioner was just installed for the hot days which are rare in Corea in master bedroom. If you dont like airconditioner there is a ceiling fan to move the air.
The house has large front deck to relax, The house is located diagonally accross from the Corea post office.

Great place for R and R

We Weere totally charmed by this lovely updated farmhouse with all amenities and a great location. Plenty of room for four of us and a view of the lobster boats in Corea Harbor and a wonderful little community. Thank you!

Maine get away

We enjoyed the peacefulness of the area. Needed to get away from the day to day work schedule. We enjoyed that house and surrounding area very much. Had a very relaxing vacation.

Second visit

This was our second stay in the house and it was just as good as the first. James has a very comfortable home with everything you need to cook dinners and enjoy the beautiful village of Corea.

Quiet harbor village

We enjoyed the location of this home very much. It was very handy having a washer/dryer. Lunch at The Wharf was great ! Not too far from MDI and short ride to Schoodic. The house was comfortable. Hope to return soon.

Visit to Acadia National Park and surrounding area

Really nice location. We came to this area to visit Acadia National Park and although it is about an hour to the main park, it is close to the Schoodic Peninsula area of the park which is really nice and not as busy! We also enjoyed walking to ‘Lunch on the Wharf’ for really good food and just walking around the village of Corea. This house had everything we needed - a kitchen with all the basics, 2 bathrooms and washer/dryer.

Historical Delight

This quaint gem was as advertised- 2 bedrooms that can sleep 6 w/2 bathrooms. Having a bathroom on each floor was a definite plus, as was the washer/dryer. The location was very quiet but with beautiful views of the local foliage & had some surprising yet delicious eateries. We were able to easily access several new sections of Acadia. So worth the price! Enjoyed our stay & all it offered.

Extremely musty odor

The house was older as described which was fine and the location was lovely. James was an excellent host and the communication was very good. Unfortunately, there was an extremely foul, musty odor throughout the house. Upon arrival I was unsure whether we could stay in the house due to the horrible smell. We had four nights and even though we opened every single window the air quality was barely tolerable. I requested compensation and was told we could stay in the house for free at another time once the problem was rectified. I live on the west coast and was in Corea for a wedding. I do not expect to return to the area. James told me he would inquire about a partial refund but he never got back to me which was very disappointing. I would not recommend this house.

Corea is lovely

Corea is wonderful to walk, the lunch cafe is a perfect place to sit and watch the water, and the local neighbors were very welcoming. It is easy to access Bar Harbor, Ellsworth and not terribly far from Pugnuts in Surrey, our families must go-to ice cream place while in Maine. We love going to Acadia Schoodic, Ellsworth has good food and a little touristy shopping if you need a day off of the ocean or mountains. The house could use a few amenities like the rules for garbage and checkout; hand soap and mixing bowls. But it is a very comfortable house with plenty of space for the kids to spread out, and the deck is great for having dinner and a morning cup of coffee. The second bath and a washer and dryer were a big bonus for us. Thanks for renting out the house, we loved spending the week in Corea.

Lovely place, but…

There’s a problem with a strong mildew smell, unaffected by the provided air purifier. I didn’t complain about this while there, but when I tried to talk to the manager at the end of our stay, he was out of town, with no way to leave a message. Thus 4 stars not 5. I don’t entirely blame the manager, as I didn’t complain until leaving, but I do think a way of communicating needs to be provided at all times. The person who answered the phone said he was unreachable, and refused to take a message.

As advertised

The house is as stated, an older farmhouse. Furnishings are basic to support a stay but plan on buying/bringing things like garbage bags, dish soap, toilet paper, etc. The water conditioner system sweats alot so you will see puddles on the kitchen floor. It is worth the puddle though. Garbage pickup....the municipality is very specific so if you plan to produce alot of garbage they only took 2 kitchen garbage bags. Now, that small stuff aside. The house definitely served our needs. The neighborhood is great, and yes, the internet and tv is sparce, but honestly, it gave us a chance to reflect each night on the day, laugh at each other a little more, and relax. So, to wrap this up, if you want to relax, no frills, have a glass of wine on a porch and listen to the ocean roar, the boats earn a family a living, and say hello to some nice people, book it. I would do it again.

Quaint home in sleepy seaside village

This was a perfect vacation home for our small family with our dog! The neighbors are gracious & welcoming; sharing their stories, suggestions, and area history. The lobster boat tour is within walking distance and a worthwhile catch if you plan ahead! Thank you James, we’d love to return!
