2025 beach trip

House was vintage and charming, great views and cozy. Great challenging hike near by that takes you down to the beach, going down isn't the hard part its coming up so if you are elderly or have small children I wouldn't recommended the hike. I would stay at this place again.

LOVED our stay

we'll be book-marking this for future trips to oceanside! super cozy, great layout upstairs for lounging, cooking, reading together. the trail is closed though so the beach isn't walkable...but it's less than a 5 minute drive to beach access.

Ocean get away

We had a wonderful visit, wanted to spend a long weekend at the coast with our kiddos our almost 1 year old for the first time and 3 year old for the second time. This place was very cozy and retro feel was so fun! Quite neighborhood. Absolutely loved the views. Had an amazing stay!

The delightful place to stay if you want to be near Oceanside

The location had an amazing view of the ocean. The setting was delightful. It was a flashback to the 1970s with the decor. Our navigation around the area was a little awkward with road closures, but that’s not unusual in Oregon are only concerned was we had to rewash the dishes and cups and silverware they were a bit grimy. this could’ve been The responsibility of previous tenants, however.

Lovely view and location

The view and location was lovely. As long as you’re good with an older home and nothing extra, this is your place;). It fit our whole party (2adults and 4 kids and pup) and was very close to the heavy and amazing cafe, Blue Agate Cafe.

Brady vacay

Loved the space, lot, neighborhood, deck, and views. Quiet neighborhood, hear ocean waves not traffic! Home was clean, cooking was easy, trail to beach a workout, but not far drive to main Oceanside parking lot if choose to drive vs tire trail. Enjoyed our stay as 4 adults.

Family trip

Funky in a good way??

This property is retro to the max. We booked it knowing it was an older property and liked that it still had a lot of the original features like the circular fireplace and built in sofa. Although our stay was totally fine, I was a little disappointed that a lot of the amenities were also “retro”, meaning the kitchen implements, towels, barbecue, and patio furniture were all pretty basic, mismatched, and out of date. Worth noting that there is no dishwasher. Also worth noting that the house definitely has a funky smell due to the original shag carpet and upholstery. Potential guests should also note that the main (upstairs) bath has a bathtub only, without a hand shower, so you can only take baths. The downstairs bathroom, which is much smaller and less nice, does have a small shower stall. The barbecue is an older Weber charcoal grill, which was fine for our purposes, but definitely not adequate for the barbecue enthusiast. We were hoping that there might be a way to walk to the beach, but unfortunately the trail, which is outlined in the guest book, is closed, and after exploring the first few feet we understood why- it is an extremely steep, dangerous trail with “stairs” made of old tires and no hand rail or anything to grab onto. That trail made our climb up Mt. Whitney seem like a walk in the park. Do not attempt! All in all, if you are looking for a retro funky beach-adjacent hangout spot, this place one of the more affordable spots left.

Blast from the past.

We enjoyed our Brady bunch meets Flintstones era decor and if only the walls could talk about the years gone by. It's a bit dated ( the only 4 stars ) with many original features but you don't get to stay at a little gem like this often. The fireplace is supercool. We had slight issues with neighbors ( another vrbo ) which were promptly resolved. Overall, we'll be talking about this place for years with its character and views.

70’s Vibe in the house

There were some recommendations- Last tenant put greasy not clean dishes back in the cupboard. We couldn’t get the TV to work for us, it kept saying the server wasn’t available. The living room lamp, with the agates, might need to be looked at. It wouldn’t stay on, it kept flickering and dimming.

Weekday Gateway

One of us had to work while the rest of the Fam enjoyed the beach but it was okay because the scenery was beautiful. Host provided quick response to emails and was very understanding. Kids enjoyed the history of the home especially the indoor fire pit. Only suggestion kids had was to upgrade the tvs to a roku since it has streaming apps. Other than that house came equipped with everything esp fast reliable internet. Thank you!

Great stay

Everything was great and the view was amazing. The host was very nice and responded quickly when messaged. Our kids loved the hanging fire place and being so close to the beach. It had games and other stuff for our kiddos to do besides electronics. We will definitely be back again.

A house with personality!

We had a great time, the house is such a fun place to stay, the fire place is a great space for everyone to gather and relax. The noticeable history around the house helps it feel cozy and loved. It’s awesome to see old pictures of people enjoying their time in the same house 40 years ago just as we are today!

Enjoyed the deck and view

Very relaxing and a lot of space. Kitchen has pretty much all you need for your stay. Our entry code did not work. We had trouble contacting the property manager (a VRBO issue), but easily contacted the owner via a posted phone number on their sign. Be aware cell coverage is essentially non-existent there. Verizon had zero to one bar coverage during our stay. Internet was very good though. We were not expecting the Hilton at the price we paid. But, the property needs some attention. Very musty smell. Bath towels were very much like sandpaper. Main floor bedroom door did not latch.

Groovy

This house is a time capsule from the 70s. The hanging fireplace is really cool. Two Presto Logs were available to start a fire on a cold night or to take to the beach to roast marshmallows while watching the sunset. The walking path down the hill to Oceanside was made up of 95 tires strategically placed to form a steep stairway. It was kind of an engineering marvel. The house had a coffee maker but no coffee. Luckily, we found a wonderful budget grocery store (Grocery Outlet) in Tillamook that had bags of ground coffee for $6. If you get a chance, go to the Oceanside beach at low tide, walk through the tunnel and keep walking north along the beach. You'll be treated to hundreds of colorful anemones and starfish on the exposed rocks. It's awesome!

Unfortunately the neighbor hates having a rental next door.

Our nice family stay was ruined by the nosey neighbor, who felt the need to constantly stare at us out their window looking for any infraction and then complain. It’s clear the neighbor is not happy having a rental as part of their view. We had a family event in the area with several (9 groups) families all staying in the area. No parties or events were scheduled at this residence but we did have some visits throughout the stay but no more than 4 extra folks were there at any given time. One of our family members at this rental house is 60 years old and fighting a battle with cancer so we deemed this the quiet house so he could get some rest as needed. Apparently these visits were bothersome to the nosey neighbor. To that neighbor “so sorry we bothered you with our desire to have our family member enjoy a view of the ocean, probably for the last time” The house was nice and a good value for the price. It definitely has a 70’s retro feel which everybody enjoyed. As with any beach house with big expansive viewing windows on sunny days the house gets warmer inside than the cool ocean breezes would indicate. We did keep many windows open so the house would let the cooler ocean air in. The TV’s here are limited to your own streaming services so we did play some music occasionally in the daytime when the one gentleman was home by himself resting. This was deemed noisy by the neighbor in another complaint.
