Koppla tillbaka och koppla av i en chalet vid vattnet som kombinerar stuga charm och moderna bekvämligheter. Huset byggdes 2004 och ligger på den soliga norra sidan av Chalk Pond, en orörd, 21 tunnland stor sjö i Newbury, NH. Njut av vattnet från din privata brygga med fiske (NH-licens krävs ålder 16+) och bad, eller kanot / kajak över till den lilla ön mitt i dammet. Inga drivna farkoster är tillåtna på Chalk Pond; en kanot i full storlek, två enstaka kajaker och flytvästar levereras med huset. Du har också tillgång till husägarföreningens privata sandstrand, basketplan, tennisbanor och nyligen uppdaterad lekplats.

Från vår ytterdörr är det en fem minuters promenad till Stoney Brook Wildlife Sanctuary, där du kan vandra två olika stigar genom en vacker 362 hektar stor bebyggelse. Se efter älgar, hjortar, flygande ekorrar, till och med piggsvin! Ta en 15-minuters bilresa till Mt. Sunapee Harbor, Mt. Sunapee Ski Resort eller den pittoreska staden New London som har bra shopping, restauranger och en sommarlagerteater.

Det stora sovrummet har en queen size-säng och privat däck, det andra sovrummet har en tvilling och en full säng. Den nedre våningen har en TV och drottning futon. Hela däck utanför vardagsrummet erbjuder en lugn utsikt över vattnet och har däckmöbler och en gasgrill. Nyligen klar walk-out källaren har två futon stolar och TV med DirecTV satellit; bra plats för barn och tonåringar att umgås!

Träpanel, handmålade stenciler, väggdukar och landsdekor ger huset en bekväm, rustik känsla. Det är noggrant rent och kompletterat av moderna bekvämligheter som inte alla stugor har: fullt utrustat kök, diskmaskin, två fulla bad, fullstor tvättmaskin och torktumlare och Wi-Fi-åtkomst. Wonderful

I stayed at this lovely cottage for the week. My family came up to enjoy a couple of the nice weather days and we all had a wonderful time. Cottage was clean and full of amenities. The host was excellent and was easy to communicate with. Highly recommend!

Swim escape

The waterfront cottage is appealing, comfortable, and well-equipped, and well managed. I particularly enjoyed my daily swims from the dock and found the cottage cozy on rainy mornings, making my week in New Hampshire very pleasant.

Nice place

If you’re looking for quiet, this is your place. Secluded in the woods and on a beautiful pond, we enjoyed our stay. If you’re looking for other things to do on a vacation, you’ll need to do at least a 40 minute drive but otherwise, it was great.

Chalk Pond

We had a great stay here. The house was very clean and everything was exactly as pictured. The kitchen was very well equipped including things one typically doesn't find in a rental such as cooking oii which was a nice surprise. All kinds of aquatic stuff to do in the pond with kayaks, paddleboards and a canoe. There was plenty of room for six adults. Marybeth is a great hostess and communicates effectively throughout. Very quiet, yet only 30 minutes from restaurants, markets etc. We would definitely return.

Perfect lake house getaway

Great location if you like outdoor activities including hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, and tennis. We were fortunate to have great weather with one rainy day that was filled with reading and games. Marybeth (the host) was amazing providing all the details and bring available for any questions.

Family get together

Location was spectacular, couldn't have asked for a better place. House was as listed with awesome amenities, such as canoe, kayak and more. My family and i had a great get together, especially coming from a long distance to meet up (Colorado). Homeowner was exceptional, and answered all questions as they arose quickly. Chalk Pond is perfect for a family vacation, it is quiet and relaxing.

Wonderful stay on Chalk Pond

We loved our stay on Chalk Pond. It’s a beautiful setting with a lovely view. We spent much time sitting near the water and using the canoe, kayaks, and tubes on the water. The house is great. It suited our family group of 7 well. Plenty of space for everyone. The kitchen is well stocked. We prepared many meals in it. The beds were comfortable. It is a relaxing and peaceful home and setting. We loved the location, close to hikes, and other attractions. We would love to stay here again.

The cottage at Chalk Pond...

The cottage at Chalk Pond was the perfect place for our New England expedition. The cottage served as our home base from which to visit several colleges for our two daughters. After full days of exploring it was a wonderful home away from home. We gathered around the table for long dinners to share our day. In the morning we awoke to the sounds of the pond beckoning us to take a canoe ride from our private dock. A perfect escape-- Andrea, Todd, Grandma Nancy, Katrina and Samantha

Clean & Well-appointed!

Fresh & clean…especially the kitchen & bathrooms! The kitchen was stocked with all the utensils, pans, bakeware & appliances we needed. Empty cupboards were convenient for our groceries. Very nice Weber grill located on the covered deck made for fabulous steaks even during the rainstorm. Canoe & kayaks on the beautiful, peaceful pond were fun! The big dining table gave us ample room for family dinners as well as board games. Host communicates promptly and courteously.

Beautiful home in a beautiful location

We recently spent a week at the cottage and found it absolutely perfect in every regard. This home is beautifully appointed, perfectly maintained and extremely comfortable. Chalk Pond is a jewel and this home takes full advantage of the view from the windows, decks and dock. We found it to be the ideal location for making day trips to the White Mountains, Lake Sunapee, Lake Winnipeasukee and all the surrounding areas. At the end of each day, it was a joy to come back to the house to relax from the daily adventures. We highly recommend this property to anyone seeking a relaxing vacation in a beautiful location. The owner was extremely helpful and a delight to deal with.

Great with a few caveats

We enjoyed our time at Marybeth's cottage. For anyone with any kind of physical challenge, however, you should know that it's two staircases and a somewhat steep incline across the grass to get to the deck and dock. The dock is quite unsteady, needs to be stabilized and requires a good sense of balance. Be sure to bring your own soap, shampoo, paper towels and toilet paper. I'm hoping that after my mentioning the challenge of carrying a tray from the deck up to the house and then having to take one giant step up into the basement, that someone will fix the situation to make it easier for people to gain entrance. A reading lamp over each of the beds would also be a great addition, as would one more lamp in the living room. .Having said all that, we did enjoy the clean and warm water of Chalk Pond. The kitchen was well supplied, the beds were comfortable and there are three TVs but no Netflix was available to us. The neighborhood is quiet and the association beach, tennis courts and playground were a nice addition as well. Be sure to bring your water shoes and some swimming noodles which will make getting into the pond without getting your feet in the muck, much easier.

Great location, nice house

We (two couples - 4 adults) enjoyed our 4-nights vacation. The location is great: on a pond with many larger lakes in proximity, a lot of trails to walk, good grocery shopping in New London within 15 min drive, modern large TV with access to Netflix, Youtube, etc. House was well equipped and convenient. However, the internet was weak (the speed was always below 6 Mb/s download and below 0.4 Mb/s upload. One day the internet was so low that we could not use it, and we could not watch movies on TV, and our cell phones could not get a signal that day. But the internet connection was ok during other days and we didn't have problems watching movies on TV or using our cell phones. One more little thing to note for future renters: it's required to do cleanup during the last morning, which includes washing and drying all sheets and towels, and putting everything to be as it originally was when you arrived. This could easily take a couple or more hours while the check out time is rather early -- 10am. But we got up early that day and managed to do everything as required. In conclusion, we liked the house and the surrounding nature very much. We will likely try to rent it again whenever we decide to stay in the area. Thank you, Marybeth.

Beautiful location

This was a hard review. My family had a good time but not necessarily because of the home. If you or anyone in your family cannot climb stairs, this is not the house for you. But this is not the reason for the less than 5 star review. It started a few days before we were leaving when the host informed us that they had a roof leak & would be having work done after us. When we got there, there were AC guys working on the home after check in time. They finally completed the work but the leak in the ceiling wasn’t completely fixed so part of the ceiling fell out. It looked like a part that was patched before. The front door lock had a low battery reading from the time we got there. We ended up changing batteries so the owner didn’t have to come in. The host also contacted us about needing to look at outside ac. They came by the house & ended up taking the fuse out & forgot to put it back in. After a long day out, we came back to a hot house & had to fix it ourselves. The decks, chairs, kayaks & canoe were also dirty. And be prepared for lots of muck around the dock. The trash cans in the kitchen were gross & the washer had black mold. The overall feel about the home is that the bare minimum is cleaned & maintained. It’s dated. And after a long first day, you don’t expect to have to put sheets & pillowcases on. But those are in the closet & not on the bed. And the last thing you want to do the morning before check out is clean all the linens & towels & put them away before 10am.

Quiet weekend

Pleasant, clean, quiet home! Nice lake location. Morning coffee on the deck is very special. Lots of stairs and 10am check-out with all linens washed/dried and returned to closets were the only drawback. Presented a bit of a time crunch after a relaxing weekend!

Much needed Calm

My husband and I absolutely loved the quiet pond and surroundings. The house was well equipped and very nice. Marybeth was great in communicating with us and we would recommend this getaway to others who are looking for a quiet place to relax!
