We absolutely loved our stay in this beautiful cottage! There was something so special about its age, charm, and cozy feel. But the highlight was undoubtedly the location right on the water. Waking up each morning to that breathtaking view was unforgettable and made our stay feel truly special. It was the perfect place to slow down, soak in the beauty of Maine, and enjoy a peaceful family getaway. We’re so grateful we had the chance to stay here and would happily return!

This property was much to my liking, historic, much character campy, unique and interesting. Great location, quiet, cozy and comfortable. Host Lindsey Cates was engaged, communicative and very helpful. The only downside for me is the presence of past pets, I assume dog(s) -dog hair all about and pet odor. I would be back in a heartbeat if not for this.

What a treasure this cottage is. The quiet, the panoramic views, and the cottage itself all set the stage for a fabulous vacation which is exactly what we all enjoyed. The grandkids explored and learned so much about aquatic life. We saw whales, seals, eagles, herons, sea urchins….it was fantastic. Thanks you for preserving this true Maine cottage experience.

If you want to stay in an authentic water front cottage that was built in the late 1800s with fantastic Bay views, then this cottage is for you! Good communication with host is a plus also.

Wonderful relaxing spot in Bayside. This charming historic cottage was quiet and comfortable, with everything we needed for a peaceful stay. The owner was easy to deal with, very responsive to questions, and accommodated our last-minute plans. Great location for unwinding and exploring the area.

Great Location!

Bayside is in an amazing location right on the water with great sea views from the master bedroom, living room and sun room. The area is a quiet suburban neighborhood which would be great for families and the use of the bikes is a great addition. The property itself is in need of some updating. Some doors don't shut properly and lots of creaky floorboards...etc. One of the rooms had not been cleaned on arrival, but communication was great with the owner and the issue was sorted quickly.

Thank you for your feedback! The cottage was built in the 1800s so it certainly has some creaks and quirks!! And unfortunately we've had to hire a new cleaning company so this issue won't be happening again :) We look forward to hosting more and keeping all our guests happy!

The house has charm, and a beautiful view from the living room and back closed porch. We brought our dog and he loved running in the closed off yard and walking around the area. it’s a super quiet and nice spot to stay! With lots of great food and towns in surrounding area. Host was easy to collaborate with and the place had everything we needed.It’s an old house, and there are a few things to note if you are planning on staying: - no stairs to water, it’s on a mini cliff, and while the neighbouring properties have stairs (they were washed out in a recent storm), this property only has a rope ladder. This didn’t bother us to be clear, because a 2 min walk down the street you can access a much easier point to the beach with more space to enjoy. - the main bedroom in the house is up a steep staircase, it’s a bit creaky/crooked, and moves when you step on it. I only share incase you have someone who is unable to walk steep stairs with little arm rail support (one of our guests fit that bill) There are lots of other great rooms to stay in - and we enjoyed the room with the beautiful view.All in all; would stay again!

How to ruin a week in Maine

To anyone considering renting this property, please understand the following: while this cottage is on the water, THERE IS NO ACCESS TO THE BEACH, despite the listing pictures which show the beach and a dock for tenant's use, and the listing details stating: private stairs to beach and use of private dock. There are no stairs and no dock. When questioned about this, the owner said: "just use the next door neighbor's stairs." I do not appreciate being told to trespass. As it turns out, there never were any stairs or dock, according to the neighbors. VRBO really needs to find a way to vet listings for accuracy. In addition to the above, the cottage was not opened prior to our arrival at 7:00pm, so, after a 12 hour road trip, we found there was no running water, no heat, many lights were not working, the microwave oven was dead. So, we had to turn on the water, engage the water heaters, swap out dead lightbulbs, untangle the spider web of extention cords to get any light into the kitchen. Once the water was on, we discovered that both the bathroom and kitchen sink faucets leaked. Also, there was no power to the clothes dryer; the "screened in" porch had multiple rips, tears and holes in every single panel and the porch furniture cushions had rust and black mold stains. As if that weren't enough, the house has more code safety violations than I have space to list. If anyone at VRBO is curious, I took lots of pictures and would be happy to share them. Never Again.

I appreciate your grace in all we did to accommodate the water and power mix up. Our cleaners failed to switch everything on as well as plug everything in. As well as the stairs being washed out from a storm this winter that we weren’t aware of. These are 130 year old ‘camps’ updated but certainly not up to any modern building codes. I will make sure this is clear in the description. We generously refunded you as well. Im happy to answer any questions to future guests in response to this very harsh review.

Million dollar view

Sweet rustic cottage in a wonderful community with a view that cannot be beat! Short walk to beach access and swimming in the bay. We were able to explore both Belfast and Camden from this super convenient location. Watching lobster boats and sailboats make their way across the bay is just what we wanted from our Maine vacation.

Wonderful town and location for waterside house

House is very comfortable and in a beautiful spot with gorgeous views. Very rustic and casual atmosphere. Loved the screen porch. Staircase to main bedroom is steep and narrow, so not for anyone with difficulty managing stairs. Stairs to beach in front of house requires using neighboring house's long & steep stairs, so ask permission. 2 small bedrooms each have 2 twins. Room with the queen and a twin is in a separate small building with a garage and the bedroom needs upgrading. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, the house and the location and would come again!
