Perfect little Paradise!

We needed somewhere while we looked for our new home in the area!! Flip was amazing and easy to get ahold of and his place was amazing! Had everything we needed for our 3week stay!

This Cottage feels homey as soon as you walk in. It has everything anyone can want. Great location with many things to do. Flip is very caring & helpful. We can't wait to stay again!!

Clean, comfortable, quiet atmosphere.

We have rented this place once a year for the past 5 years. We love watching the manatee swim, love the coziness of the cottage, and all the amenities. We can't wait to do it again.

Relaxing

Weeki Watchee Cottage

The cottage is exactly as advertised and very well equipped. Great place to canoe and fish and see manatees. (Winter). A highlight was taking an airboat ride from the marina out to the gulf where we saw dolphins playing.

Relaxing vacation

Flip is a great host the house is decorated very well and you have everything for entertainment. The house is facing perfect you can watch the water all day. Our dogs couldn’t get enough watching the lizards and squirrels. We saw some manatees within an hour of being there. This was one of the best places I have stayed at.

WONDERFUL GET-A-WAY

We have just returned from our week in the cozy little Weeki Wachee cottage and we miss it already. The whole family had such a nice time and our boys already want to know when we can go back. If you are looking for a neat, clean and comfortable place to stay, this is it. We found it to be nicely updated with everything we needed right there. We canoed and kayaked (rented) all over the river and most evenings sat on the dock watched the mullet jump and enjoyed a cold beverage. This is a great location to base day trips out of, with Crystal River and Homosassa to the north and Tampa, Tarpon Springs and some great beaches to the south. Check out Becky Jack's Food Shack on Cortez Blvd while you are at it but, mainly just enjoy the peacefulness that the Weeki Wachee has to offer. Thanks Flip for a great week!

Great cozy cottage that has it all

This was one of my best stays with Home Away. The home had everything you could think of or need. This property had things that you may forget but are happy when you see its there. Close to main hub of weeki wachee, walk to rogers park. Easy to launch your boat. We enjoyed a nice week, with great weather and several boat trips to the river and ocean. Saw many manatees from house and on river. Lots of wildlife around. Home was clean and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable. Barbecued a few times then went out to many of the great restaurants in the area. Shopping is wonderful in Spring Hill, the city has really built up with some great stores. Owner was thoughtful and answered any questions we had. Neighbors were very friendly too. Ill be back for sure. Thanks Flip

What a gem!

What a great place in a great location! We just finished a month stay and totally enjoyed this cottage on a canal right off the Weeki Wachee River. The house has everything you need and more - we used one of the canoes often and they supply everything needed...paddles and vests. The floating dock is perfect for beginning and ending your water voyage or for just enjoying the water. Lots of wildlife flies and floats by and the screened porch is perfect for watching it all. The furnishings are comfortable, the Internet is fast and reliable (better than at home!), HDTV is great, kitchen well equipped, bathroom a nice size, etc. We honestly can't report any faults! One thing that we really liked - it is quiet - no loud neighbors!! We're coming back next year. The area has much to do if you like nature - trails, water kayak trips, canoeing, and eating...there are a lot of nice restaurants around here...BeckyJacks, Bayport Inn, La Bella Napoli, and the Upper Deck to name a few. If you are looking for a comfortable, relaxing place to spend some time - this is it! BTW - our cat loved it, too!

Great stay at Flip's house, like being a guest of a close friend!

My wife, 11 y/o daughter and I stayed at Flip's house for a week over spring break in April. He has a lovely little house, nicely decorated, very clean, and well equipped with all the amenities you could need. Flip was super responsive, quickly answering multiple emails with questions beforehand, and he called while we were there to check how we were doing. It is stocked with needed extras like coffee filters, band aids, aloe, extra shampoo, condiments and spices, etc. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the pots and pans, dishware and flatware needed for river side meals. He has canoes, and fishing rods, and conveniently there is a small marina a few doors down with bait and tackle. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We brought additional paddleboards and a sea kayak and were on the water every day. The Weeki Watchee is incredibly clear, with nice little homes lining some of the riverway as it curves inland to the springs 5.5 miles away. What a joy to walk a dozen steps and be on such a lovely creek. The first night there we took out one of Flip's canoes and viewed a pair of manatee, on another night we canoed as a family to dinner less than ten minutes away at the Upper Deck restaurant, and had a very nice meal overlooking the water. If you keep heading in that direction you travel along some canals lined with fun homes as you head toward the salt marsh and the Gulf. From Flip's house you can paddle about 15 minutes and watch the sunset 
 which we did most nights. Another hour in a sea kayak in that direction will get you to the Gulf of Mexico, and you can continue to paddle along the coast. The house has a wonderful location! We went snorkeling with manatee in a bay and 3 Sister's Springs, and snorkeled down the wonderfully clear and cool Rainbow River. We used Crystal Lodge Dive Center for those trips. We fished off the dock, went to Clearwater Beach, and spent a day at Honeymoon Island State Park. We really enjoyed the park, the natural landscape there, the beautiful white sand beach, and the clear water. On the way home we toured the waterfront at Tarpon Springs. It was a joy to see the sponge boats, fisherman cleaning their catch, and looking through some shops; rich Greek culture and history there. We also visited the Homosassa Springs Animal Reserve which was wonderful. We had a great vacation at Flip's home, such a unique area, and he is a gracious and kind host. We'll see the lovely mermaids next trip!!

Weeki Wachee/Scallop Getaway!

This property was perfect for our stay! We didn't get many scallops, but we did get a lot of fish!!! We hung out at the Hernando flats on our mat. Enjoyed the cool springs. Watching the mullet jump outside the house was awesome! The firepit was great, we made smores! The house is equipped with everything you need for a week stay!!!

Quiet and peaceful

We stayed at Flips house for ten weeks. House was clean and check in was easy Weather didn’t cooperate at first but got better. Saw lots of manatees some came right up to the dock. Fishing was not very good this year but neighbors who have been coming there for years said it is usually really good. Did catch a few small mangrove snappers.

Flip was an outstanding host, always available when there were questions. The cottage is older, like most every other place in Weeki Wachee Gardens, but it was spotless and comfortable. Speaking of comfortable, the master bedroom has the most comfortable king size bed, I’ve ever been in I traveled alone, so the location is very near a marina where kayaks or jons can be rented. It’s a busy spot, with river craft coming and going, but it’s summertime, so more folks vacationing were to be expected

I want it to be my little secret

This trip was peaceful and so much fun. Wildlife is abundant. Fishing was great. Weeki Wachee State Park is very family friendly. This home was quite a home away from home. Flip and Penny have everything you need and more. No need to spend the first of your vacation at the dollar store for paper products and other necessary items. The only thing you need is food if you choose. The restaurants were nice. Bonefish Grill and Zigzag Scallops were tasty. The grill works and the fire pit was an added touch! Thanks for letting your home be ours for a week!

Canal Home

The house was very nice and well stocked. I wish there had been kayaks available rather than the boat. I am 67 and not strong enough to handle the boat or canoes. Otherwise, perfect visit.

Getaway

Spent the month of March in this very well equipped home. Flip was a wonderful host providing everything we needed. The wife did have to have emergency gallbladder operation. Hospital was close and very well staffed if needed. Thanks again Flip
