Great stay, Great location and great hosts

My family and I had a blast staying in Jaco. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and worked hard to make our stay enjoyable. We loved being so close to the beach and our family made good use of the pool. The only concern was that some of the rooms felt a bit musty with the layout and humidity outside. Still a great holiday and we would happily work with these hosts again when we return to Costa Rica.

Beautiful beachfront home PERFECT for a nice getaway

I stayed here for 4 days after christmas & the house is beautifully built and decorated both inside and out. The visit was relaxing & the view from the patio of the house is beautiful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay & would love to return.

Beautiful Villa

Everything about the experience was perfect, the villa is a great layout was very clean, and the host Tia took care of everything. It’s also at a perfect location in Jaco, close enough to town to walk, but at the nicer end of the beach.

Fantastic property and area

Big, beautiful house right on Jaco beach. The house was recently built and it is gorgeous. We saw scarlet Macaws, Jesus lizards and a lemur - all while sitting in the backyard. We also used their cook for a few meals, and boy was it a treat! Enjoyed it so much we are going back again this summer.

I stayed at this property with my family and it was more than I could have imagined. The house was located right on the beach and we were able to surf right out front. Tia, Ronny and the cleaning staff were awesome, they took great care of us. I highly recommend this house to anyone looking to come to Jaco. Thank you for everything, I can't wait to come back!

Best place we have ever stayed

Fifteen of us stayed for six days. They kept asking where I found this wonderful place. The house was perfect for us. The pool was so warm and welcoming. The beach was perfect. The sunrises and sunsets were amazing. Many enjoyed the surf and leaning to surf. The food that the chefs cooked for us was absolutely delicious. We appreciated the scheduling help from Tia.

Family/friends getaway

Unbelievable house. 17 of us stayed and there was plenty of room. Not much inside gathering space, but who wants to stay inside when you are in Costa Rica? Dani the host was spectacular!!! She recommended a lot of activities which all were great! Zip line, fishing, waterfalls, side by side tours and chocolate tour. There is also a great restaurant next door (mahi mahi) they cooked breakfast everyday for us and served us dinner on the beach. All together a great time and we will definitely be back!

Great location and Staff

Home is well equipped and is really a great layout for a large family. We were 17 and we fit with no problem. Tia the concierge, was a great asset. She helped with excursions, chefs, restaurants and any other questions we had. Robbie who was the on site manager/security was always there to help. nice property. Would return again.

Amazing time at Casa Rio Mar

We had a wonderful vacation at Casa Rio Mar. All of us, from the litlle 4 years up up to the eldest 55; we all had a amazing time. Pool, sand, sun, ocean, volleyball, beach soccer, bbq. There was nothing missing. The house is great and all the assitance included. Definetely we are coming back!!!

Costa Rica and Casa Rio Mar = Paradise!

Casa Rio Mar, Jaco beach and Costa Rica in general is the most beautiful place I've ever been. The amazing beach, warm ocean, the perfect weather and the amazing people of Jaco made our vacation the best ever. The house quality and location is exactly as on the pictures - amazing! I would recommend this property to all my friends and colleagues as their choice for a relaxing & exciting beach vacation full of walks on the beach, surfing, jungle hiking, fishing and all kinds of other cool things you can do and see in Costa Rica. The BEST place in jaco! GREAT Amenities and Concierge services

Our family and I travel all over the world and I have to say we had the best time ever! This house had everything we needed: towels, grill, sound system, full equipped kitchen, 24h security (by the way very helpful and friendly staff!), full concierge services to book our transfer from and to the airport, tours, chef services, cleaning! All was so close that we did not need a car, even the tours we booked had transfers included! Very easy! We highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back! Michelle

Incredible house in Jaco Beach!

Just got back from a trip to Jaco beach where myself and four other friends stayed at Casa Rio Mar. The house is incredible! Just a few footsteps from the beach, the location cannot be beat. The house is new, well-maintained, clean, gated, and plenty big that made our stay comfortable. The house also comes with a security guard 24 hours per day. While sitting next to the pool, you also have a view to the beach/ocean. The owner was extremely helpful with any questions we had and made our stay an absolute pleasure. If you are planning a trip to Jaco Beach, I highly recommend staying at Casa Rio Mar.

Unbelievable!!

From start to finish this was a fabulous vacation choice. Clean, great layout, perfect for couples wanting to get away or families to spend time together. The ocean views from the main living area, veranda, and pool were better then any photos. From zip lining to horseback riding, spa, ATV trips and boating/fishing. It all here to do. Five minutes from downtown Jaco makes it very convenient for dinners out and great nightlife. Whether you are a family or two, or a group of friends this is a special place to escape to. Three mile of beach to walk and explore right outside the pool. I would recommend to anyone and I look forward to returning next year!!

Atlanta to Costa Rica's Fun in the Sun

We were a group of 5 adult couples. The house was beautiful and clean. Susan the house manager was always helpful and professional. We were picked up on time from the airport, and for all our tours. The beach literally abuts your back yard, and the pool and yard area was spectacular. We selected to have chef services for a couple of dinners and a breakfast, and the food was superb. For 10 adults we paid about $100 in groceries plus the chef fees. All the security guards were helpful, but Hosea was soooo nice and helpful, we considered him part of our group. The only thing I would say that was not as I expected, was the 1st floor bedroom was listed as having a queen bed, it was actually a full/double bed. Susan the house manager, and Jim the owner were a pleasure to talk to and did everything in their power to make this a vacation we won't forget. We are definitely coming back again! Date of arrival

A Vacation Cut Short (Bed Bugs)

First off, the house is nice and the staff are great. We had a nice time here for a few days. We were visiting with 14 family members for a birthday celebration. Unfortunately, my family member was bitten by beg bugs on her legs, abdomen, and face. The sheets had red/brown stains suggesting the presence of bed bugs and the mattress had large dark brown stains also suggesting bed bugs. My family member went to the doctor who confirmed the bed bug bites. We left the home after discovering the issue and needed to stay in a hotel. The owner of the home did not take responsibility for the bed bugs and blamed the beach. The owner hired an exterminator to visually inspect the property and they did not see any bed bugs. That said, it may have been an early infestation with a few bugs which could be extremely hard to find visually (is what our doctor said). Plus the mattress and sheets showed evidence as well. Ultimately the ownership did what they could, but we did not feel comfortable staying at the home and needed to leave. The owner has so far refused to give us a refund despite the evidence from the doctor, the dirty sheets, and the mattress. They said they would fumigate the place (they also need to replace these mattresses). Overall we were having a great time even if Jaco isnt the best spot in Costa Rica (not the prettiest beach and downtown is not tourist friendly), but the house cleanliness left my family member bitten on her face and us stuck in a hotel.

We truly regret that one of the members in Lawless family had an allergic reaction to something while visiting Costa Rica. It's our goal for each and every customer to have the best time while vacationing and staying at the house and our reviews reflect that. In 9 over nine years, we have never received a complaint for cleanliness, bugs, or resolving unforeseen problems that can occur on any house, timely and fairly. In this case we simply disagree as to the problem, and we offered what we believed were fair and generous solutions in light of our disagreement. First of all Bed bugs are not native to Costa Rica. They have never been in the house . To be sure for our customers we had a professional company come and inspect for them. They use professional lighting and equipment that will detect them. The comment that they are not visible is just not true when it comes to professional pest control methods. The house did receive two professional reports that show there was no bed bugs. Most likely the customer was bitten by a native bug and had an allergic reaction. The doctor who the customer met with was inappropriate to state that he can tell by type of bite. I, as the owner seeking the truth called two reputable doctors in our area and both it is a common misconception for people with a reaction to assume bed bugs not knowing they are not in Costa Rica and certainly not knowable from the bite. In an effort to satisfy our customer.......(only 1 of the 14 guests had this reaction). we offered to pay for a extra hotel room next door during the entire stay eliminating the need to use the in-question bedroom. That offered was not acceptable. We also offered to move them to a comparable house. That too was not acceptable. Instead the group stayed well into the evening of the 5th night when they decided to move to a hotel for the last 2 or 3 nights. We feel we did everything that was possible to be sure there was safety issue, we felt that we offered two very fair solutions if they chose to move. We did not feel it was a reasonable request by the customer to provide a full refund after the have enjoyed and used the house for 5 days of the seven-day reservation. We will provide a credit for future use if the lawless family ever decides to return.

“Ultralight beams” + “Awesomeness” = Casa Rio Mar

You can see clearly from the backyard all the way through the house to the beach and ocean. I was using the grill in the backyard, but I could still see my friends cooking in the kitchen, another group of friends watching tv, and third set of friends hanging out at the pool listening to music in the front of the house. The layout of the house created the perfect atmosphere for catching up with friends and family. Speaking of the backyard, fresh fruit trees are available for you to pick (mango was my favorite) and iguanas frequently “play” in the backyard. There is also a river in the back beyond the fence that you can observe from the back balcony. Lots of wildlife activity to observe without even leaving the property. I frequently used the front balcony to have happy hour and watch the sunset. Jaco, Hermosa, and Los Suenos all had amazing places to grab a drink, but after a few days of exploring, I realized the villa provided the best backdrop for our group to unwind in the afternoon and early evening. I was a little skeptical of this place before renting it. You will see the internet littered with 5-star, perfect reviews of this place. You will also see everyone raving about the beauty of the villa and professionalism of the property staff. All I can say is that it is better than advertise. The property manager, Susan, and I are basically like family now. I emailed and/or called Susan at least weekly for 5 months leading up to our vacation and she graciously accepted and responded to all my questions. I am litigation consultant so I ask a TON of questions. LOL! Susan coordinated airport transfers for our group, privates chefs, and activities for our group. She even has the villa phone programmed with Taxi numbers and her cell phone. She pretty much made it dummy proof. The onsite staff is amazing. They will help you with anything you ask (i.e. moving a big grill from the back of the house to the front). LOL. On a personal level, every morning I talked to our security guard about life in Costa Rica. Just positive vibes. Awesome folks that work onsite. I’m not big fan of writing notes or reviews, but I wanted to say “thank you” to Jim and Susan for making this the best vacation ever. Thank you and Pura Vida!

Beach retreat for a large group

The home is positioned on the south end of Jaco Beach so away from the hustle of the town. The ocean floor in front of the home is terrific for ocean sports. The gentle, high tide waves are perfect for beginner surfers. The home accommodates a large group. We slept 16 easily among 3 young families. There were some needs during our stay and the property manager was very responsive. There are full-time security guards so safety was never an issue.

Loved Casa Rio Mar!

We spent 10 days at Casa Rio Mar over Christmas and New Year's. What a perfect location to celebrate the holidays. Perfect weather every day in an amazing location. Everything is close by - restaurants, shopping, nightlife, and plenty of activities. Casa Rio Mar sits oceanfront in Jaco and really includes all amenities needed to enjoy a fantastic break. Matt was a great host, offering local advice on things to do, places to go, and lined up some amazing adventures during our stay. Sun, sand and surf at your doorstep! Our activities: -Fishing out of Herradura. Matt lined us up with an outstanding Captain. We caught six large Mahi and two sailfish. Captain Henry and first mate Will were amazing. -A day at Tortuga Island with the entire family, included snorkeling, sun on a small quaint island. -A day at The Ranch at Ocean Park where we rode ATV's, zipline, waterfall repelled and rode horses. The all day pass includes lunch at their new restaurant and a guide for the day. Jose was incredible! And only 15 minutes outside of Jaco. -New Year's Eve sunset horseback ride with Cowboy Tours for the entire family. So fun, well timed and organized. -Monkey Mangrove Tour was so cool. A two hour tour on a boat with a guide. We had Crazy Alex as our guide, who could speak to the animals - amazing. We saw many monkeys, iguana, raccoon, birds and various plant species. -Matt lined up a couple of excellent chefs to cook for us at dinner. What a great experience and the food/service was impeccable. No need to rent cars. Rent golf carts or cab around town. The security guards were excellent, taking care of us and the home. Jaco Beaches are very well maintained. Surfing was great for all ages and abilities. We cannot wait to return! The McDonnell Family

Dan, It was great meeting you guys and your family. I had a blast helping you guys plan a vacation of your life time here in Costa Rica. Now its time to get the family reunion planned and come back and see us. I look forward to seeing you guys again. Pura Vida
