Great beach house! Features four (4) bedrooms. Each room has two double beds, air conditioning and private bath. You will have a full staff available during the day who will keep the outdoor areas clean. You will have a cook who will prepare your meals including breakfast (breakfast is included in the price !), lunch and dinner (you provide groceries, the ladies will cook and serve your meals and all you need to do for dinner is heat and serve). Daily room cleaning if desired, if not rooms are cleaned every three days. You will have a dedicated nightwatchman along with security cameras. The property has a pool with deck and sitting areas, downstairs lounge area, upstairs balcony, and a common full bathroom. With a group of eight, the per person rate breaks down to $35.75 per person before booking fees. Great value for the location, amenities, and service that is included.

Playa El Tunco is a surfers beach that regularly hosts major surf competitions, including the 2021 Summer Olympic Qualifiers. The location has always pumped consistent swells and features two perfect right hand breaks just a few yards from your front door. The area averages 3-5 foot swells at high tide, producing nice right hand breaks and normally features double OH waves on most days during the months of May through July. When the wind is offshore, you get nice barrels.

Bus route to La Libertad provides you with easy access to groceries and sundries. Taxis can be had for $10 for local trips. Airport runs are $40 for pickup and $40 for drop off. We have a partnership with a shuttle operator and they can provide you with all your transportation needs while you are here.

El Tunco Beach House

The property was clean and inviting. The rooms were cute and the AC allows for a needed break from the heat. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The best part about this place was the location. It is steps from the beach and in the midst of the town. Tunco can get wild on the weekends, but I didn't find it too loud to sleep, but some people might. There are 5 rooms that are rented at a time, so unless you rent all 5 rooms, you might find the free rooms rented to another group. We rented 4 rooms and didn't mind that there was another couple in the 5th room. All shared space is outdoors so it was not a problem. I really enjoyed this spot. I will book again in the future.

Hostel Type Stay

This is a great place if you paid for a room in a hostel for a night (teenage boys in our group loved it) but it is basically a room stay. We expected privacy (always had a worker in the kitchen or lounging in a hammock). No place to hang out with AC unless you sat on a bed or at kitchen tables where it is very hot. Place is kept up by on site worker but people come in at all times day and night asking about a stay due to signs posted about “Layback Hostel”. I highly recommend as a hostel location but not for a whole house rental.

Surf trip in paradise

A group of eight of us stayed at Rauls Layback Surf Hotel and it was absolutely perfect. Raul was an excellent host, helping us to coordinate shuttles to and from the airport and the property as well as welcoming us, showing us around the immediate area and checking in on us halfway through our stay. Raul was also always quick to respond to any messages and able to resolve any issues or confusion. The house had everything that we needed, the pool was wonderful and the A/C in each room worked great. This property is comfortable with plenty of space to lounge and hang out, private and secure. It was ideal for our group of young people that were eager to spend most of the time surfing, reading poolside and partying at night. The women who were around during the day were lovely and always helpful when it came to preparing meals, taking care of shopping and making up the rooms as needed. They cleaned constantly, our dirty footprints never lasted longer than a few minutes! If you want to visit Tunco with a group large enough to book the entire property and your group isn't too high maintenance, this is the ideal location. Raul is the best!

We are a couple who fell in love and got married in Playa El Tunco. I am a former educator/administrator who now works remotely as a cybersecurity training specialist. My wife is a social media designer. I was born in El Salvador and have lived in Texas most of my life. Our family has been a part of Playa El Tunco since it was nothing but jungle and a beach. We have seen it grow to become a surfing mecca known the world over.

You will be well cared for by our staff. The property is in a prime location, a mere 30 yards from the beach. It is well maintained and spacious with lots of outdoor sitting area and a large yard that can accommodate up to four vehicles. Secure, safe and fun !
