Cozy Cabin right on the Water!!

Located in the Namekagon Scenic Riverway, is a charming R&R (Relax on the River) Cabin. Including a canoe and 2 Kayaks! It’s a perfect getaway for a couple/ small family. Imagine sledding out of the trailers in the winter or sitting on the front deck and watching the river flow by, just 30 feet away, in the Spring, Summer and Fall! It is located in Log Cabin Resort that offers a Sandy beach for swimming!!

Relax on the River is a charming cabin, located in an area that is perfect for any outdoor enthusiast! Experience canoeing/kayaking, and fishing right out your front door! There are also nearby ski/hike/snowshoe trails as well as ATV/snowmobile trails and the Birkie /CAMBA trails. (Snowmobile right out of the cabin on to the trails!) Experience the small-town charm of the Trego - Hayward - Spooner area (including a bar/restaurant near Hwy 53 within walking distance!) or just "stay home" and relax in your own private getaway on the beautiful Wild and Scenic Namekagon River! :-)

From the Owner:

Hello and Welcome! This place on the river has always represented home for me. It is my roots. I was born and raised here, and my family's history and connection to this site go back almost 100 years. My grandparents Homer and Luella Canfield bought this land in the 1930s to homestead on and build a log cabin resort. My grandfather and dad began clearing the land. In winters they would cut trees with local timber using crosscut saws and axes. With horse and sleigh they would haul them to this site to build their home. The resort cabins were built, and the operation of Canfield's Log Cabin Resort began in the 1940s. My parents Jack and Dorie Canfield took ownership of the resort in the 1960s. They cleared more land and developed the campground and canoeing aspects as a popular addition to the resort. In the early 1980s they sold the portion of the resort that was run as a campground and seasonal cabins and kept the portion containing the original log home and the year-round cabins. I hope the peaceful Namekagon River, now a National Scenic Riverway, and the surrounding area of the Northwoods provide you with a grounded, relaxed feeling. Overall the place was really nice. Just a couple of problems that should be corrected so future guests are not caught off guard. The shower faucet is plumbed backwards. The hot is cold water and the cold is hot. Not good since I was unaware until I communicate with the property manager. Also there is no kindling as mentioned in the welcome book, and I am not sure the property manager phone is right since I tried to call about the shower. I had to communicate through Vrbo.

Love our stay at the cozy cabin. Very cute, perfect for 2 people. Clean and has all the amenities you could ask for. My only suggestion is either a pedestal fan or ceiling fan in the bedroom. With the air conditioner in the kitchen window it got a bit warm in the bedroom with the humidity and warm days. The bed was firm but very comfortable. We loved it and would definitely go back again:)

Beautiful view of the river

We loved the view of the river and sitting out by the campfire and grilling out. I loved the idea of fishing from the bank and caught a few nice bass. The cabin was nice inside everything we needed was there . Cute place .

I call it the “mini me” because it’s the perfect retreat for one or a couple. Cozy, quiet, and a beautiful view of the river. This was my second stay. There were a couple maintenance issues I brought to the attention of the owner, and she was very responsive.

It was a great size for the two of us. It was right on thr lake which was nice. We were on the same property as an RV/camping place which was a bit strange. I would wonder about noise levels during peak season. It did smell like fried food or something when you walked in. Would have been nice if shower soap and shampoo would have been provided. Overall nice place.centrally located.

Really nice cabin. We were there to do a trail running race, and the place had everything we needed with comfortable, relaxing style.

Relaxing and Comfortable

Good Experience! My family and I loved this cabin, it is small but has all the amenities, on the river bank with a fire pit and a balcony where we had breakfast and ate outside.

Easy access to atv trails

Cabin was very clean. It had everything we could think of. I would have preferred it a little more secluded and away from interstate but since it was raining most of time we stayed inside or went thrifting in Spooner. On the nice day we were able to drive our side by side right from the cabin to the trails. Could spend all day out there. Overall a great experience!

Wonderful Getaway

The cabin was extremely clean. Its perfect for a 2 person getaway. Kayaked in the morning and fished right off the shore. Used a Ned Rig TRD and surprisingly caught 1 walleye and smallie just right outside of the cabin. Would visit again.

Perfect little getaway

This cute mini-home has everything you may need and has a wonderful view. I was there for a wedding but I would come back just to decompress and get out of the Cities! So peaceful sitting the porch and watching the view.

Wondeful Visit

The cabin was the perfect size for my wife and I. We loved the view of the river and really enjoyed sitting by firepit at night. We did not use the canoe or kayaks but we could see they were easily accessible had we chose to do so. We would stay here again without hesitation. My only suggestion would be to have clear check out instructions. We used very few dishes but didnt know if we should put them in the diswasher and start it when we leave or hand wash them ourselves. Overall, this was a very nice and cozy cabin!

Cozy, lovely cabin on the river

I had a great week next to the river in this cabin. The cabin itself is small, but very well designed, so it never feels cramped and has everything you could need! It was very clean and comfortable. When I arrived on a Saturday I was a little overwhelmed by the activity level next door at the resort, but guests there were all very well behaved--no blaring music or drunken brawls, just lots of people. I learned to enjoy people watching from my perch at the cabin during the weekend, especially seeing so many happy kids. It brought back memories of family vacations when I was a kid! Then by Sunday night, most people had left and it was very quiet, so the rest of the week was much quieter. I loved taking the kayak out on the river in the mornings and evenings--so peaceful and beautiful! I also hiked at Trego Nature Trail (VERY close by) and Trego Lake Trail (close by), and highly recommend both hikes. Mosquitoes have been bad this summer, but I found that the breeze coming off the river down at the fire pit blew most mosquitoes away, so I was able to sit there next to the river and enjoy the view and the birds in peace. Lovely! Communication with the host was easy, and I thoroughly enjoyed my vacation on the river!

I Came up for the Memorial day Honors at Spoonor Cemetary

It was the Wendesday through Saturday before Memorial day still quite quiet nice sun rise got in one fishing cast. Went to the Cementary and set out flags one day and the next day was the ceremony lasted an hour was very nice. Cemetetary was decarated nicely took pictures, placed flowers on my husbands grave. Must say very nice stay. surprised when I had to leave will consider another stay for a longer period of time. Loved it. Even got me wood to have a fire. Thank you I appreciate it one of my favorite nights. Perfect weather too.
