Wedding weekend

Perfect spot right next door to Audrey's Farmhouse! Lovely home for my family to stay in during wedding weekend. The proximity to the venue made things so much easier. We loved the large living room and kitchen. Everything was clean and neat. I recommend this home to anyone having an event at Audrey's or nearby Wallkill.

We booked Michael’s house for a group of guests for our wedding at Audrey’s. They have not stopped talking about how insanely perfect it all was. Check in and communication were easy! The house was spacious and comfortable! Great use of fire pit and awesome views.

Wallkill stay

The house has great space. The kitchen is well equipped for meals. Some of the furniture is worn and dated and the bed in the master was too hard for our preference. Overall- I'd rate this good to very good.

Nice house for big family

We enjoyed our weekend stay in Michael’s house for our daughter’s wedding at Audrey’s. The location was great & the setting is nice. Michael communicated promptly & graciously accommodated our change request. The only negatives are the 5th bedroom is not really a separate, private bedroom as there is a windowless opening between the bedroom & the living area, a game table is set up in the room, and you have to go through the bedroom to get to the only bathroom on the first floor. Also, we couldn’t use the sliding glass doors to go out to the deck, which we would have liked to do. Otherwise, the house served our purposes very well.

Beautiful home // responsive home // needs repairs

We loved this property. It’s spacious, cozy, despite being on a pond, bugs were not a problem. I really appreciated some special accommodations the host was able to make. A couple AC units went down but the host immediately replaced. So great responsiveness. As with cabins some of amenities are very old. We would have a appreciated a bit more of a walkthrough before we arrived because things were missing like propane for the grill, Lighter for the grill, plugs for the tub, a ceiling fan didn’t work. Nothing crucial, but minor nuisances. Despite the above highly recommended. Would return.

Great Place for a Weekend

I'll start by saying that reserving the house from the owner was very simple. My emails were answered promptly and we were able to book this place for the weekend with ease. This is a wonderful house to rent out for a weekend. We came up with a dozen guys from NYC and were all very pleased with the accommodations. We were able to pick up our 12th guy from the Poughkeepsie station which was pretty close to the house. There is also a paintball field twenty minutes from the house called Paintball Sports NY which was a lot of fun. The house was very clean when we got there. The deck is nice and looks out into some grassy fields. However, the one issue I had with the view in the back was that it looked out onto a pond that is covered in algae and sadly had two detergent bottles floating on the surface. Otherwise, the place is really pleasant and quaint. The grill worked perfectly and the kitchen was stocked with dishes, pots, and pans for our use. There is a nicely sized front lawn for games and a basketball hoop in the driveway too. I would recommend this house to anyone looking to go upstate with a bunch of family and friends for a weekend getaway!

Great house for weekend getaway

Mike is wonderful to work with. Check-in and check-out is simple and painless. The house is wonderful. The furniture and overall decor are a nice mix of contemporary, mid-century, and industrial chic. There is a "No Shoe" policy, which is a big plus for us. It means that the interior hadn't been trampled by dirty shoes from the area's many wonderful hiking trail, and as such, we felt comfortable laying down on the lush living room carpet, which is a rarity for a couple of us who have OCD tendencies. One thing to note, especially for city-slickers like those in our group, is that there are two water sources coming into the house; the one coming in via the kitchen sink is potable, the other coming in to all other fixtures is not (well water containing sulfur?). The latter has a very strong smell and feels slimy, especially when using soap. It took some getting used to but in spite of our initial reaction, we felt refreshed and clean just the same after a shower. Perhaps the sulfuric water has health benefits for the skin. This is not a knock against the house, as it was noted in the description, the welcome binder and labeled in the kitchen. Rather, it's more a FYI to urbanites who have only known of water that is piped in from treated reservoirs. Judging from many wells that we saw on our morning jogs in the area, this is probably pretty prevalent in all the houses in the area. To sum up, everyone in our group had a lovely time in a lovely house on a really nice summer weekend in Hudson Valley. Thanks Mike!

Great property, needs attention to detail

This is a wonderful, large property in a great location for hiking and cultural activities, but the house needs better maintenance and attention from the owner. 1. This is actually 4 bedrooms. The 5th bedroom is a pull out sofa in the downstairs game room, which is open to the kitchen, so not very private. 2. The dining table could seat 12, but there are only 7 chairs, leaving other guests to perch on counter high stools from the kitchen. 3. The owner provided one bath towel per guest. No hand towels, wash cloths, bath mats, or dish towels. 4. In the kitchen, several outlets don't work, the stove is hard to light (probably the burners need a good cleaning), the warming drawer doesn't work, the ice maker doesn't work and there are no ice cube trays for the freezer. When we arrived, there was a rotten banana in a bag in the kitchen and several of the serving bowls in the cabinet were crusted with old food. 5. Several light bulbs were out and the batteries in some of the remotes for the entertainment center were dead. There were no replacement light bulbs or batteries in the house. The sash cords in many of the downstairs windows are broken. 6. The deck is lovely but looks out on two ponds completely covered with green algae. There was a major plumbing problem when we stayed. The owner certainly could not have predicted this and took steps to deal with it right away. But he never acknowledged the inconvenience of having only limited water for 24 hours (no showers, cooking or dish washing) or the time we spent waiting for the plumber Friday night (we finally ordered in pizza) and then following the plumber's directions for refilling the system until the next morning (a process that unfortunately did not solve the problem). A thank you and/or an apology would have been appropriate. With some work and better customer service, this could be a 5-star property, but it's not at this time.

Wedding Stay (November 2024)

Overall, an excellent stay. The property is very nice, and Mike was a great host. I really don't have any major areas of improvement. This is an absolutely perfect venue for large parties looking to stay, especially if attending the wedding venue next door!

The Cabin is a dream

I rented the Cabin for my family to stay at during our Wedding Weekend at Audrey's Farmhouse. It seriously could not have been more perfect. Mike was so patient to answer my questions - he was kind and super responsive. The property itself is perfect. The home is very large and is designed to ensure the comfort of everyone staying there. We had 10 adults and 3 kids (ages 1-5) stay. The kids loved the big couch. The adults loved the spacious rooms and that everyone could comfortably spread out. Given we rented it for our wedding, it was also SO wonderful to have a space for everyone to congregate. It was easy for my family to get ready at the cabin, while the wedding party got ready at the FarmHouse and Guesthouses. Everything was so close that it made it super easy to bounce around, without ever feeling like we were "on top of each other". We also hosted a post-wedding brunch here as well (note an additional event fee). It was perfect. I can not recommend this home enough. A number of our guests even said "This is literally the perfect cabin for a large family" and "If I could design a dream home, this would be it.". Thank you, thank you, Mike!
