Situated directly along the 2.5-mile beachfront of Playa Potrero overlooking the ocean, Villa Potrero includes a professionally landscaped private garden with an oceanfront patio for sunset cocktail hours. A private gate opens to a sandy beach for casual walks, a dip in the ocean, paddle boarding, fishing or just watching the sailboats pass by. The bay has gentle waves that are calm and inviting with warm swimmable water. Your view includes the Catalina Islands 6 miles offshore, one of the most sought out scuba diving and snorkeling locations in Costa Rica. Dive boats can get there in 10 minutes. 6-seat golf cart rental available for $60/day, 4 door Jeep Wrangler rental available for $120/day. Let our on-site concierge take care of all the details for you for a relaxing and worry free stay. The Villa Potrero estate consists of a large main house comprising 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, 1 full kitchen and 2 kitchenettes. The home may be rented in whole to accommodate up 18 guests or the home can be rented as a 3 bedroom and a 4 bedroom separately - please inquire if one or another of these configurations is of interest to you. This listing is for the entire 7 bedroom home. The 4 bedroom guest suite and 3 bedroom guest suite can be reserved separately, inquire if either of these options is of interest to you. Villa Potrero is in a beach community within walking distance of several great restaurants such as Hemmingway’s, Nita Coffee, Cerveceria Independiente (Brewery), La Forketta, MerKdo (Grocery) and the sailing center. A few minutes’ drive takes you to El Tiki, Coco Loco, Surf Box (Coffee), Sentido Norte, and the Fruit Stand. So many great options nearby! The Flamingo marina is on the south end of the bay offering sunset cruises and world-class fishing.

The property was gorgeous! The rooms had comfortable beds and their own bathrooms which was great for our group of friends traveling together. Arturo was the house manager and was incredibly helpful well before our trip and throughout. He helped make recommendations and arrangements. The house had a fully stocked kitchen and two large refrigerators upstairs plus smaller kitchenettes downstairs (I believe two). The pool was perfect sized with plenty of outdoor seating and activities. The house is so nice that it was easy to want to stay there but there is a lot to explore in town, so I recommend getting out and about!

Fabulous Family Vacation

Our family LOVED staying at Villa Potrero. The house layout was perfect for our large family of 18. The house is updated and clean. The veranda was an ideal place to watch the sun rise and set or to just have morning coffee and listen to the ocean. Good location for walking to restaurants and the property is on a nice sandy beach. The pool and pool toys available to the kids was a hit. The large back yard was a perfect place for the kids to play. Arturo, the house manager, was extremely helpful in all ways! He gave us useful information, arranged transportation for excursions and answered any questions we had. He is a gem!!! Our family gave this vacation a 10 out of 10! Thank you for a memorable experience.

What a beautiful place!

The villa and property are beautifully maintained! The house is very comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need! Our teenage grandkids loved all the sports gear and the beach right at our fingertips! We hope to go back!!

Slice of paradise

This home and location is a true gem on the beaches of Potrero - the upstairs with 4 lovely rooms each with a private bath was perfect for the adults in our group. The lower level was just the right set up for the 6 younger people in our group (ages 17-22). The pool was awesome for when we needed some shade or time away from the ocean. We walked the beach every day loved getting to the restaurants in town that way. Arturo and the rest of the team at the house were so great and available to help us in anything we needed. Highly recommend this home and hope we are able to return!

Perfect House for Large Family Trip

We traveled with our 20-something kids and their partners - 13 total in our group. The house and grounds were perfect - plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms, spacious and varied common areas (where people could be together or find some quiet areas), a well-stocked kitchen (and big bbq), outside game tables, a pool with pool toys, and of course right on the beach with kayaks, SUPs, boogie boards, etc. We had a blast. Arturo, the concierge, helped with rental cars, airport transportation, all activities, and recommendations pre-trip and during the trip. Housekeeping was available throughout. The neighborhood is great. Are there glitzier houses for rent? Maybe. But this one was perfect - a 10/10 experience for us.

Great house on the beach

This is a great house right on the beach with great boogie boarding right out front. There were 10 of us ranging in ages from 10-80 years old. There was plenty of room. The house is well laid out and stocked with everything we needed. Communication was easy. The owner and property manager were very responsive. In all a 5-star experience.

Fantastic stay and wedding location!

Villa Potrero was a fantastic place to stay. The house was amazing and beautiful! It has all the amenities and and was in the best location close to everything. We hosted our wedding at the house in the back yard and it was absolutely amazing. The guests loved the space and enjoyed the mixologists that Cori and Arturo provided as well as the picturesque sunset. The house was plenty big enough for our entire wedding party.

I can hardly put into words how incredible this home is. It truly exceeded all our expectations. The owner and the staff Arturo, Martin, Venite were helpful and genuinely excellent, going above and beyond to accommodate our every need. With a group of 10, we had some unique requirements, and the staff attentiveness and the care provided by the housemom Mary, Julie and chef Kattya made us feel completely at ease. We felt like we were truly at home. It was heartwarming to see how dedicated the staff was—they became like family to us. Every request was met with a quick and kind response, making our stay even more special. , and we can’t wait to return. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us; it meant the world to us. Perfect house for a large group

This rental was top notch for our big group of 14 adults. Very nice, cool, & clean. Judy provided daily cleaning for the place & she was wonderful! So friendly & worked so hard! The pool was great to have since, although the property is right on the beach, most of the group would not get in the pacific ocean with the dark sand & dark water. We are all white beach, blue or emerald water, want to see what's in the water atound us kind of people. Lol. But you can't go wrong with the property itself - you will love it!

BEST VRBO EVER!!!

This home and staff are amazing!! Before our group even arrived Arturo, the house manager, was helping me plan excursions, massages, in house chef, transportation and grocery orders. When we arrived at the house we were stunned at the amazing view of the ocean, the cleanliness of the home and the warm welcome from Arturo and Martin who keeps the property beautiful! The refrigerator was full of food that we had ordered ahead of time and the in house chef was preparing our dinner while we soaked up the sun in the pool and ocean. Yury kept the house beautiful every day with a warm smile on her face. Future trips anywhere in the world will have a hard time matching this experience! Thank you Arturo for making our 25th wedding anniversary a memory we will never forget!!

Great family stay

Our stay at the villa was perfect for our family of 17 + 2 others that joined us during the day. The pool was a huge hit and having the beach right outside the gate was amazing. Because of some recent storms the ocean was a bit cloudy and maybe a bit rougher than usual but we still enjoyed jumping the waves. It was hard to take out the boards and kayaks. Arturo, Martine, and Julianna were very helpful and responded quickly to our every need. We hired Kattya as chef for 2 nights dinner and she and her staff made our celebration very special and delicious! They were very helpful in suppling an estimate for our dinner which was very helpful because they wanted to be paid in cash. The house needs to be updated a little (ex- the dishwasher does not work and needs to be replaced. We washed a lot of dishes). I would definitely stay here again and our family had a wonderful time!

Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous

Our stay could not have been more perfect. We landed in Liberia. Within 1 hour of leaving the airport we were at the house and relaxing next to the amazing pool. The house is spacious, clean, updated, and located on a beautiful beach. The property meets up to the description and better than the pictures on VRBO. The house is well equipped for an active vacation. The bicycles, paddleboards, volleyball set and kayaks were an added value to staying here. What topped the trip off was the night our host arranged for a private chef to prepare dinner for us in the house, complete with bartender. The food and the drinks were amazing. The house manager was amazing and helped us with all of our needs. The house is also within walking distance to several bars and restaurants. Quaint little town for a perfect relaxing vacation. We will definitely be back.

60th birthday get-together

The property was wonderful. We had 4 couples staying for a 60th birthday get-together. The bedrooms were very comfortable and spacious. We spent a lot of time in the pool and went boogie boarding and kayaking. We drove the golf cart or walked to town where there is a grocery store and restaurants. Hemingways is very good! The ladies enjoyed a nice breakfast one morning at Nita's Coffee. I don't know how Arturo does it but he managed to keep all our requests and questions straight! We had the chef and mixologist come one night. It was fabulous! great fun with the mixologist!! The guys went fishing one day and they cooked the fish they caught. Judy cleaned for us whenever we needed it. Martin and Paco (the dog) were on site daily. You will love it here!

Ideal luxury vacation spot!

Our friends group of 7 couples had an amazing luxury get-away at this large beach front home. The location is fantastic - we could hear and see the ocean day and night, it's literally just a few steps away. Property manager, Arturo, arranged all the activities and services for us in advance making the planning easy and the execution was perfect - no hiccups! Arturo put together a full week itinerary with the services and excursions, which he arranged at discounted rates better than we could find on the internet. We enjoyed on-site massage and spa services, private chef prepared dinners with an entertaining "mixologist" bartender, a catamaran cruise, zip-lining, volcano hike and thermal spa experience, and an ATV ride to waterfalls. No need to rent cars - we used the shuttle service offered by the property owners and rented the golf cart and Jeep (which are available at the house) to get around to other nearby beaches and local spots. The house is very large with an open floor plan and many comfortable seating areas to relax with friends, alone with a book or just to enjoy the ocean view. We loved that the living room and dining easily accommodated our entire group comfortably. Another staffer, Martine, set up the beach chairs & umbrellas, pulled out the paddle boards and kayaks to be ready for us to use every morning. "House mom" Yuriana was wonderful - she cleaned the house daily and prepared breakfast, served on the veranda, every morning. All the details were attended to this was a true first rate luxury vacation experience.

This house was amazing!! It was like we had an entire hotel to ourselves. The villa accommodated me, my spouse, and 8 of our friends. It has everything that you need and you can’t beat the view. We loved the sunsets every day. Arturo was so helpful! He literally helped us with everything. You can walk to Geckos and many other places! We also enjoyed hemingways. He scheduled massages for us, best thing ever. We also went ziplining, rode atvs, and went on the lazy lizard. We rented a golf cart on the last day. Also, BOOK the chef! Even if it’s for one dinner. She did our anniversary dinner and it was delicious.

Absolute fantastic. Room for everyone and more. Actually had 3 women cooking same time in large kitchen...More than enough dishes . Wonderful pool grandkids really enjoyed and everyone enjoyed boogie boarding in ocean( first time for grandkids). Arturo could not have been any more responsive to our ? and so helpful with all our needs. Would definitely come back..

This is our second time staying at this property, and our most recent visit was even better than the last! Our large group stayed for a week and we had the best time. The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The groundskeeper, Martín, was so attentive, and the property manager, Arturo, resolved any questions and provided us with wonderful suggestions and recommendations. Could not recommend this stay more!

Overall our stay here was great. 14 of us went there to celebrate turning 70. The upstairs area of the house (with 4 bedrooms and all of the living spaces) was really wonderful. We loved using the large kitchen for meals and sitting outside on the beautiful porch area in the evenings for sunsets. The downstairs area (3 bedrooms, 2 baths) was not as nice. The rooms were a bit darker and not as upgraded as those upstairs. Several of the bulbs were out in the room and it was difficult to see what was in the closet! This was reported to Arturo, the house manager but was never remedied during our stay. Arturo was usually very helpful and responsive with most of our needs.The meals we had prepared for us were excellent and enjoyed by all, especially for our birthday celebration dinner! Concerns:The main issue for us was that there was construction going on next door. It was on the other side of the wall of the upstairs bedrooms. Very loud construction started around 7 AM most days and did not make for a relaxing atmosphere. Construction dust would fly around. The property doesn't really have much control over that but if we had known about it, we would have made a different choice. It did impact our enjoyment of this house.ATV--one of them was not safe to drive; this was reported and taken off of our bill. They took it for repair.Overall a beautiful place with a few issues to consider.

Perfect beachfront location

We knew nothing about this area before booking but fell in love at first site. The home was immaculate and well cared for. The onsite property managers were wonderful, responsive immediately and so helpful. The combination of pool and beach was perfect. We walked the beach to dinners and rented golf carts to explore further. Couldn’t have been better.

Beach Vacation

We rented this beautiful home with a group of friends. Convenient location to small market and restaurants. The kitchen was very well equipped, we made several meals and found everything we needed to cook. The house and outdoor space was large so we had plenty of area to spread out to enjoy our time. The house manager Arturo responded immediate to questions about activities and restaurants. Costa Rica Bucket List Friends Trip

Oh where do I even Begin..... Arturo, Martin, Poco (dog)!!!! We loved them all! They were there on a dime anytime you needed anything, including Poco (who meet us for breakfast down the street :-)) Arturo booked our catamaran and was very helpful when the catamaran people messed up our reservation...I reached out to Arturo he answered immediately and they jumped into action once they heard Arturo :-) I am in awe over the property, the kind people who came to clean up for us, the owner.....We will be back and I would stay no other place!!!!! Thanks again for everything and helping make our vacation, Unforgettable!!!!!

Wonderful Xmas Holiday

Our family of 14 found the villa to be perfect. Plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and places to gather. There were two dining tables, one indoors and another outdoors, that accommodated all of us. Arturo and all the help saw that all our needs and wants were taken care of. The teens enjoyed the short walk into town. Fabulous holiday!

Trip of a Lifetime

Our stay at the Villa was incredible. There were 10 of us celebrating our father’s 70th birthday and was the perfect place. Very safe and clean. It felt like our very own private resort. • Location is a beautiful beach view and in the town of Portrero. Expect daily walks on a beautiful beach and the sound of the ocean crashing every day is meditative. • Villa is very clean and has housekeeping come in daily (Yuri) who is absolutely wonderful. The beds are comfortable and all linens are clean. • The great room of the house is perfect for big families – we fully utilized the kitchen and every room upstairs has a view of the sunsets and ocean. The dishwasher is a bit wonky and could be fixed or replaced. Also the great room’s air conditioning/ fan system is quite weak. Each bedroom has it’s own air conditioner and fan which is amazing, but the great room/ main living room/ kitchen area of the villa should get checked out because the fan and air conditioners are not very effective. • The rooms downstairs open up to the main level and steps away from the ocean, so you don’t feel like you are lower level or basement. The bathrooms are much smaller downstairs and definitely dated and could use a refresh. • The pool could use an update but we used it daily and is aesthetically beautiful. • Arturo and Martine were very helpful and responded quickly to our every need. • There is construction going on right beside us so that was loud at times

We are a large family of 9 (yes, 7 kids!) living in Minnesota and enjoying our Costa Rican paradise Villa Potrero whenever we can. We chose the home for its location on the beach, large yard and its close proximity to Potrero village. Potrero beach has soft sand and is wonderful for swimming and playing with the children.
