Beware - kept security deposit and stopped communicating
Prior to the start of our trip, communication was great. We received detailed instructions on check in and what to do during our stay. Upon arrival, I communicated a leaky faucet to the rental company and they responded via email within minutes.
The condo was clean but older and dingy. The water pressure was terrible and the temperature was hard to maintain. When guests in adjoining condos used their hot water the pipes rattled through the walls and woke us all up.
On the last day of our stay I emailed the management company to let them know that the coffee maker had stopped working. We didn't damage it; I turned it on and it simply decided to not make coffee that morning. I wanted them to know so it could be fixed for the next guest.
Two days later I received an email that my entire $150 security deposit was being kept because we "broke" the coffee maker. I have sent 3 emails to the management company asking for more details, and 2 messages via VRBO over the last 2 weeks. All have gone unanswered. I find it quite ridiculous that I am being charged for something I 1) did not "break", 2) notified them of - as I could have not said anything, 3) costs less than $40 to replace and 4) am not able to have a reasonable conversation with anyone about it. Supplies and equipment wear down and break over time, especially in a rental with multiple guests. Should you choose to stay here, I hope you are not another unlucky guest who has something stop working during your stay!
