Cheerful two-bedroom riverfront Cottage one mile from the Old Rag Trailhead. Brand new spacious kitchen with a charming gas fireplace, deck with wonderful views, and a spacious screened in dining porch. 8 ac of private space on the Hughes River. Terrific fly fishing. Tasteful art decorated space. Spend your days hiking Old Rag and SNP and your evenings in our cozy, elegant Cottage. 15 minutes from Sperryville's restaurants and amenities. Perfect for a romantic, tranquil getaway from DC.
The property features two light-filled bedrooms with a queen bed and a full bed, with wooded and mountain views. An open space plan with a wonderful kitchen and gas range. There is a deck right off of the well-equipped kitchen and dining area for morning coffees and evening meals. Downstairs there is a screen porch with ceiling fans that provides ample space for entertaining and dining as well. A cozy gas fireplace is available for cold nights. Chic and stylishly decorated, the space features original works of art and Moroccan and Berber carpets. A perfect respite after a day of hiking, and a peaceful place to relax, read, and enjoy the tranquil 8 acre setting. Our Cottage is 15 minutes from Sperryville and 30 minutes from Little Washington, and all of the restaurants and amenities. The Old Rag parking area and the Ridge Trail trail head--one of the most popular hikes on the East Coast-- is only a mile down the road. We also have access to Shenandoah National Park and all of its hiking trails. The Cedar Run and Lower White Oak Canyon Falls Trailheads--two of the other best hikes in the park--are only 20 minutes away. You can access these in Etlan via Rt 643, and avoid Skyline Drive and the crowds! The property also fronts several hundred feet of the Hughes river, which offers some of the best fly fishing in the state.
NOTE: Internet and wifi is available via HughesNet but due to proximity to Shenandoah National Park and the rural location, cell phone service is spotty. T Mobile and Verizon offer some coverage. We recommend guests download movies, maps, and music to their devices prior to arrival at the property.

Hi! I'm Anthony...I have loved the Shenandoah since my first hikes here as a boy. Climbing Old Rag remains one of my favorite things and I enjoy being able to help others experience it. When we're not staying there ourselves, my partner Meg and I offer the cottage to guests. The area around Sperryville and Etlan is a hidden gem and our Cottage is perfectly located for exploring! Our Cottage reflects mutual interests in exploring the Shenandoah, travel, cooking, reading and Asian and Middle Eastern art and culture. We hope you find our place a very cozy and relaxing getaway.

This is a truly unique property with an easy one mile hike to the Old Rag Ridge and fire road trailheads. White Oak Canyon is a 15 minute drive via nearby Etlan. The hip, up and coming mountain town of Sperryville is also 15 minutes away.

The Hughes River which offers superb fly fishing is right across the road where we own 300 ft of Frontage. This is a perfect location for exploring Shenandoah National Park and beyond!
