Lonesome Dove - Spacious Log Cabin on 8 Acres, Ample Outdoor Amenities

Lonesome Dove Lodge is a truly unique custom built cabin with 7-inch log exterior walls, nestled in the hill country on nearly 8 private acres. This property is perfect for couples looking for a fun bonding weekend or memorable family getaways. The first thing you'll notice is the tranquil Koi-filled pond with two waterfall features just off front porch. There is a walkway that leads you over the pond to a large deck under a canopy of shade trees, perfect for lounging in the afternoons.

Inside the cabin is an open kitchen and living room that features custom built birch cabinets and three hand made Tiffany-style chandeliers. The master bedroom has a king size bed and an en-suite bathroom. There are three more bedrooms each offering a king size bed and one bedroom with a queen size bed. Every bedroom is equipped with a flat screen TV.

Off the back of the house is a screened-in porch that makes a great place to sip your morning coffee bug-free. There is also a large patio with lounge furniture, a brand new hot tub, and a propane grill. The pool area is completely fenced and also has a nice pavilion offering shade while you watch others splash around in the pool.

PET POLICY: Pets are only allowed if they have been registered prior to your arrival. A maximum of 2 dogs are allowed and a pet fee of $25.00 per pet, per night will be added once your pets are approved.

SELF CHECK-IN REQUIREMENTS: All reservations will be required to sign a rental agreement and provide Hills of Texas Lodging with a valid credit card to be placed on file for their stay. In lieu of charging a damage deposit or non-refundable damage waiver, a temporary hold will be placed on a credit card upon arrival for incidentals (just like they do at hotels). We are basically just verifying with your financial institution that sufficient funds are available in the event they were needed to cover property damage(s). If there are no property damages, the card will not be charged.

Great place for family fun!

We have stayed here last fall and again this summer. Both were fun for the entire family, especially using the pool in late July. We all enjoyed our stay and will probably come again next year!

Great place with plenty of room

Enjoyed our family gathering here. The bedrooms with on suite bathrooms were great. Made use of both refrigerators. Also enjoyed the outdoors areas including the screened porch.

Beautiful setting, great amenities

We (7 people) had a great time! The large house is in a very serene setting, beautiful pond with lovely landscaping. Having access to the private pool and hot tub was great at the end of each day. Just a few minutes to get into into town, this was the perfect place for our family/friends get-away.

Family Vacation

The property is private and expansive. The outdoor areas rival those of the indoor areas. The house comfortably accomodated our family of 8 adults, 2 small children, and 2 dogs with another bedroom to spare. It was a wonderful place to enjoy time together.

Great Hill Country Getaway

Great spot! The spacious layout easily accommodated our sizable group, providing ample room (and bathrooms!) for everyone. One of the standout features was the outdoor area, complete with a screened in porch, a pool and a relaxing hot tub. I was impressed with the cleanliness and would highly recommend this place.

Perfect for the whole family!

Nice family retreat

We very much enjoyed this scenic property for our family Thanksgiving retreat. We had a couple of glitches (hot water heater, hot tub) which the owner addressed. We really liked the property, property management, and property owner, and are planning a summer retreat there (to enjoy the beautiful pool the property has).

Great girls weekend at Lonesome Dove

Our group of six college friends had the pleasure of staying at Lonesome Dove. The house was more than adequate for our needs, and we certainly enjoyed the pool each day. We also enjoyed the lovely deck in the front of the house with the waterfall and pond. The house was very clean, which can be difficult to achieve in the country. Please note that some of the beds are quite tall, and we were grateful that some rooms came with stools to help us get into bed. The kitchen was well-equipped, and having two refrigerators and freezers was a nice touch. We are absolutely hoping to stay there again.

Girls weekend

My adult daughters & I enjoyed our stay at Lonesome Dove. We were looking for comfort, clean & restful. This place delivered. Beautiful & quiet central Texas landscape, but close enough to shopping & restaurants. As we were packing up, my girls all said they wished for one more day! Thanks!

Amazing Family Vacation Retrrat

Lonesome Dove did not disappoint!!! Perfection, beauty, PRIVACY!!!! My family has requested we book here next year. Cousin party

We were 8 total cousins and spouses, all 64+. The property is perfect! No stairs, lots of places to congregate, and a relaxing pool in which you can easily do laps. Town was less than 10 minutes away, but this area is very quiet and private. Thanks for a wonderful cousin party!

Family Vacation

This is our second year at this property. It’s a great layout and everyone enjoyed the pool. The outside areas are nice but it was too hot to spend anytime outside on our stay unless you were in the pool! Thanks again Lonesome Dove! You will remain on our list of favorite places to stay! Cathy

Laid Back & Secluded

Loved that this place has 5 bedrooms and 3 of them have bathrooms. A 4th bathroom is located close to the other 2 bedrooms. Location is down a long, narrow, winding road. Once at the house, you do not see anything except the beautiful hill country. No road noise, but you will hear plenty of FROGS! There is a nice little pond in the front yard with a fountain and lots of frogs. They stay around the pond, so you aren't seeing them, just hearing them. The pool is amazing! Would be nice if there was lighting around the pool and along the path to the pool. There were several solar lights along the pathway and around the deck but very few of them worked. We would definitely love to stay here again in the future.

Wimberly Ladies Trip

Lonesome Dove was wonderful on all levels! It is incredibly clean throughout the house. It is well stocked with dishes, pots/pans/silverware/spices for cooking. All the bathrooms have shampoo/conditioners/body wash with very nice towels and plenty of hot water for six women. We gave an A to every bed/and the pillows. So many places to enjoy &relax. A TV in every bedroom and the living area! Our interaction with the staff/owner was extremely positive. This is a perfect place for a ladies retreat or several families. It is definitely an A++ home rental. And it’s not easy to impress six grown mature women, but we were definitely impressed.

Time with Friends

Loved Lonesome Dove. It’s quiet and out in the country but close enough to Wimberly for shopping and restaurants. The pool was well used as it was in the 90s during our stay. It was very clean but didn’t rate 5 stars due to dusty air vents and screened porch not having been cleaned under the furniture with cobwebs under chairs. Minor but should be addressed. Outdoor spaces were great and we used all of them. Kitchen a bit small for more than one person but laundry room had added storage and second refrigerator. Would definitely recommend.

Beautiful area, not 100% clean...

Overall the property was beautiful and pretty much what was expected. I am a little concerned that the enclosed patio was so dirty - there were literal cobwebs under all the furniture. And when I cleaned up water off the floor inside, the towel came up with a dirt mark, which tells me the floor was not cleaned well beyond maybe a sweeping. Lastly, there was a singular false eyelash sitting by the pool. I was the only one able to use the pool during the trip and I most definitely do not wear false lashes.There was also a dead scorpion in the pool, so I'm not sure the pool was cleaned out in between visits. Or that the pool area was cleaned period. The property is great, but for the price, I expected pristine cleanliness.

"Incredible & Serene"

Oh, where to begin? This property and management were Amazing! It was our 5th year family girls trip. We couldn't have been more delighted with the space, accommodations, property and wonderful amenities! Peaceful, quiet, lots of outdoor visiting seating areas as well as a pool and hot tub. Our weather turned out to be wonderful so we got to enjoy everything as well as great shopping in Wimberely & outlet malls in San Marcos. When wete back in the area we hope to book this property again. Thank you for your gracious hospitality!

Perfect ranch style home for family with 5 senior couples

Property is perfect ranch home for large family. We had 5 senior couples who combined a reunion and wedding celebration. Beds were very comfortable, private baths in 3 bedrooms, very roomy living space. Multiple spots to visit outside, with hot tub and pool. Beautiful outdoor property. Kitchen adequate for our needs. Would appreciate larger toaster and better glassware. Ideal for our needs.

Nice lodging but with Issues

This is our second stay here. The home is nice and was perfect for our 4 senior adult couples. The pictures on the listing are accurate and we enjoyed our stay. There are a few problems that need to be improved on though. The hot tub was not working. It would not heat up. Also the internet did not work our entire stay. The number we were provided to contact management was "no longer a working number" so we had no way to contact anyone. On our last day, we received a notice of all the instructions for checkout. I texted them back telling of the problems and received no response. On the checkout instructions was another phone number to call. I called this number and no one answered the phone. When I got home I sent an email to an address provided stating the problems during our rental. I mentioned that I hoped to receive a response from them and again received no response or contact. Fortunately these problems were not crucial to be fixed, but I hate to think what we would have done if we actually had a problem that needed immediate attention. A few other things I want to mention is that we did not have towels in a few of the bathrooms, but we did find them in the dryer. Also the listing says they provide you with coffee. The first time we rented there was no coffee so had to run to the grocery store. Second time we packed coffee, and there was a very small amount of coffee in the can, so you may want to bring your own coffee if that is important to you. All in all it is a great place but feel the management response is poor.
