Rustic Modern Cabin on the WI River: Fur Babies Stay for Free!

Keep it simple at this peaceful & conveniently located property less than 2 miles from downtown Dells. This secluded 6 acre property is nestled in the backwaters of the WI River. It’s a cozy space to reconnect, relax and make lasting memories.

Our property is comprised of 6ac of land on the Wisconsin River...we have a cornfield to the North, a seasonal cabin to our South the river to the East and a road and natural area to the West. We are 1.8mi from downtown Wisconsin Dells. Our property has 4 cabins, perfect for couples and friends to come to the same place and have their own accommodations, a Gathering House (Converted Tavern) social area, that is set up as an intimate and cozy atmosphere (think speakeasy), a 24x24 covered deck and 24x10 patio area. Follow the trail down the hill towards the river and you'll find 225ft of raised walkway through a natural Sandstone canyon that arrives at our private 80ft dock on the riverfront. You'll find excellent walleye, muskie and sturgeon fishing as well as carp and catfish sheep's head and a bounty of other stuff to catch along with scenery that will make you fall in love...
The views from the dock are the crown jewel of the property.

We offer a charcoal grilling station for each cabin and a central grilling location by the Gathering House. We have a fire pit in the space beyond the covered deck and plenty of wood to burn on site.

Our goal is to host couples, small groups of friends, family or coworkers and provide a space to disconnect from technology, connect with each other, share some unique experiences and make amazing memories you and your loved one/s, you're closest friends or coworkers will look back on for years to come. Great stay at sandstone…

Had a lovely time staying at sandstone rustic retreat. Not sure where to start as everything was very nice, start to finish. The owners have great communication and are very helpful and accommodating. The whole property is neat and well kept. Our cabin was super cute and cozy. The favorite thing for our teenage boys was to be able to fish off the dock and kayak down the river where they caught a whole variety of fish. Would definitely recommend this place to Wisconsin Dell travelers. A quiet spot and conveniently located.

Even Better the Second Time!

This was our second time staying at this lovely property, and it was just as impressive, if not better, than the first! Returning felt like coming home. Everything was spotless and beautifully maintained, and the thoughtful touches throughout the cabin made our stay incredibly comfortable. We already knew how great the location was and perfect for relaxing. The host continues to be exceptionally quick to respond, kind, and clearly dedicated to providing a five-star experience. It’s rare to find a place that consistently exceeds expectations, but this one does.We’re already thinking about our next visit. Thank you again for another unforgettable stay!

Enjoyed the cabin and the grounds. It was everything it was advertised to be. Great location for hiking Devils Lake and taking in some attractions at the Dells. Loved it!

Excellent getaway!

We rented both a cabin and a dome. Close to downtown but far enough out to be surrounded by wilderness. Cale was very welcoming and showed us all amenities, which are plenty. The cabin is beautiful with modern sink, shower/bath, faucets, and had nice coffee pot and plenty of snacks. Decorations and plaques throughout resort are very thoughtful, inspirational and even a funny one if you look. This would be a great place for family reunions. So many outdoor casual meeting places and a lovely meeting room indoors. Got to watch the moon rise over the river through the dome, which was an awesome experience. Hoping to get back soon for a stay in dome with snow!

Perfect home base for families experiencing the waterpark close by.

This place is very special. The owners here focus on hospitality that is even more enhanced by the location they are developing here so beautifully along the Wisconsin river. The common areas here are so spectacular that one can only relax and reflect on the beauty of this area. Fishing off the dock and kayaking were my personal highlights. I rented the kayaks here and saw sandstone cliffs, eagles and many animals. My small cozy cabin was spotless and organized. We cooked family breakfasts in the cabin and evening meals around the gas grills near this common area and gathering house…itself a very fun and relaxing area provided by this resort. Our family definitely will be returning!!

We really enjoyed our 5 day stay.. very quiet area. Great facility which has a public area with area for group to gather. We used the barbecue grill to cook steaks.. easy walk to the river which was beautiful Tanya and Cale are great hosts

Wooded retreat

Beautiful property, spotlessly clean. Comfy bed, heated bathroom, with a small kitchenette. Refreshing stroll from the cabin through the woods to the river dock. Warm and inviting Gathering house, we enjoyed hanging out by the coffee bar and grilling on the deck. Tanya and Cane were so friendly and hospitable. Short drive into town and the attractions. Perfect getaway for us, our two young kids and two dogs. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you Tanya and Cane!

Lovely cabin in the woods

We had a wonderful (but far too short) stay at this lovely cabin in the woods. It is very quiet and “away from it all,” but still close to downtown Wisconsin Dells for restaurants and entertainment. The cabin was spotless and very well-appointed. I wish we’d had more time to explore the grounds. Communication was fantastic. Definitely coming back to spend more time.

Post Christmas getaway

My husband and I wanted a post Christmas getaway. We loved our nights at the cabin with our dog. This was both our first time in Wisconsin Dells and we enjoyed how close the cabin was to the downtown area but also far enough for us to disconnect. Tanya and Cale gave us great recommendations on restaurants in the area The cabin was nicely furnished and the features are some I would like to put into my own home. The cabin was stocked with all basic needs along with water and snacks. The common house was a great place to relax and meet others staying on property. Additionally the coffee bar (stocked with local Bella Goose coffee) was a nice way to start our mornings along with a walk to the river. We loved our time at Sandstone Canyon and plan on visiting again.

My husband and I enjoyed our short but sweet time here. We stayed in one of the cabins and couldn’t have asked for anything more fitting. They are clean and cozy with cute decor. The owners are very kind and hospitable. We definitely recommend and would love to come back.

Amazing Cabin

Our stay was one to be treasured forever.Super clean cabin next to the river.Happy hour served by the River were amazing.Our dog felt at home.Meeting the owners was our pleasure.We shall definitely return. Great place to have family re- unions. We shall try the domes as people who we met said they were very comfortable.

Awesome setting and perfect location

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. I wish we could have stayed for more than one night. It was the perfect distance from all of the Dells action. The hosts were awesome! Thanks so much for a great time! Wish we could have spent some time on the dock, but our stay was too short. Hosts were very accommodating regarding refunding part of our trip last minute since we couldn't make it due to a family problem. My only suggestion for the cabin would be some type of curtain for the door windows. Considering that there isn't carpet in the cabin, maybe a lower pet fee (there were some places with a $25.00 pet fee). Lastly, the $89.00 property damage fee should be refundable if there is no damage to the property. I'm not sure if the fees are standard for Vrbo or if it is set up by the hosts, I just think that one could be lower and the other should be refundable.

Seasoned Educator ready to begin living our vision...hosting guests at our amazing property and providing space to unplug, unwind and create lasting memories! Sometimes we don't see things until it's too late...sometimes we correct course just in time and sometimes we make changes and things still don't quite work out...we all work hard these days and often find ourselves "indentured servants" to a business or job we only do because it pays the bills...not because it's rewarding and fulfilling. A combination of the pandemic and a tragedy that struck our family in October of 2021, a lot of the belief systems we were living by were shattered. We reevaluated everything and decided "someday" was gonna be now. When we needed to heal, we were fortunate to have friends who offered us a place to reconnect with each other. We rediscovered what's important. Our closest friends and loved ones and making memories with them. We have an incredible "WHY" that can't even begin to fit in this small space. We want to offer others what we were searching for. Sandstone is an intimate space to gather, laugh, cry, celebrate and LIVE abundantly. One of us will be around the area and on property majority of days available for any questions. We love to meet our guests and help curate an awesome time here in the Dells. We're happy to share our favorite spots, some local history and the best places to experience everything the Dells has to offer aside from the Waterparks!

Uber & Lyft frequent the area. Downtown is 1.8mi away and is walking distance for those inclined but we don't recommend walking if you plan to come back after dark. The roads are not lit and walking could be dangerous for pedestrians. Parking downtown typically will cost you something. Certain periods of the year Wisconsin Dells doesn't charge for street parking. Hiking & Recreation Devils Lake is 20min away in Baraboo. Rocky Arbor State park is 2 min from our location. Mirror Lake State Park is 10 min from our location. Shopping: Walmart is a short drive down I90 (7mi) Tanger Outlet mall is a short drive down I90 (8 mi) Coffee & Breakfast: Our favorite, Bella Goose, Dunkin, Starbucks, Denny's and IHOP are 1.5 miles away. Dining: There's so much to take in...here's our favorites: Riverwalk Pub - Log cabin atmosphere and great food. Showboat - Hot Wings & Warm Beer & Loud Music...Dells Historical site. Monks(DOWNTOWN) - You can't do the Dells without getting a Monk Burger High Rock - Classy Downtown spot with a unique menu B-Lux - Milkshakes are incredible and the best cheese curds in town! Summer House (Summer months) Awesome patio overlooking Lake Delton Brat House - Late night eats and great German dishes! Sorentos - Italian fare, favorite spot for an intimate dinner. Ask for the fireplace table! Del-Bar - Famous Wisconsin Supper Club with some awesome Steaks! Ishnala - It's an experience. Plan for an evening and get there early. Bobbers/The Reef - Cool nightclub and restaurant with an Island fair. Live music on Fridays! Jose's - Great spot right up the road with the best Mexican in town. Enjoy the 120oz Margarita with your friends! A bit off the beaten path...J's Pub in Reedsburg. Great Pork Tenderloin, Salmon, Steak and two fireplaces to warm you up. We have 6 acres on the Wisconsin River with river access from our private dock. There are 4 small cabins, a studio cottage and 4 glamping domes on the property. We also have our converted tavern, The Gathering House which is our common area for our guests to congregate and relax. The property may fully be rented out for family reunions, small weddings, company events or any other private gatherings. The best part of our property is that it feels like you are miles away from the hustle and bustle of the busy downtown area, but you truly are less than 2 miles which makes it so very convenient to access any stores, restaurants, and activities that you may need. It's a beautiful, peaceful property that we are blessed to share with our guests!
