Little Owl Estate is a lovingly restored traditional Istrian stone villa nestled in the peaceful countryside village of Bacva. Delight in breathtaking scenery of the Adriatic Sea, vineyards, olive groves, and forests.

Little Owl Estate consists of two separate villas, each with its own entrance, linked by a spacious outdoor grilling and seating area. Guests are welcome to enjoy the entire property.

Where is the 6 star option?

This trip was a celebration of my retirement. The hosts were helpful in planning side trips, but honestly the best part of our stay was time spent at this beautiful, historic setting. The combination of olive tress, grape vines, and the historic property created an opportunity for us to relax, enjoy nature, and learn about all that Croatia has to offer. We are already planning a return visit!

Perfect House

Our stay at this beautiful house in Istria was nothing short of perfect! The property is set in a tranquil location with breathtaking views, offering a serene escape from the everyday hustle. The house itself is spotless, spacious (it was ideal for our two families of 4), and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the outdoor area, with a gorgeous pool and plenty of space to soak up the sun. One of the highlights was exploring the nearby wine region—sampling local wines and visiting picturesque vineyards added a special touch to our trip. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and provided us with fantastic recommendations for wine tours and local dining spots. The location is ideal for exploring the charming towns and stunning coastlines of Istria. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and will definitely be back. Highly recommended!

Beautiful estate and views

Our stay at Little Owl Estate was by far the best trip we have every experienced. The estate is really two villas that allowed us complete privacy with our two families yet we were connected by a beautiful outdoor kitchen with a large outside covered dining area which allowed us to eat outside in any weather. The views are magical. We really felt like we were transported back in time. Looking out over the manicured lawn and gorgeous pool, there are olive groves, vineyards and the sea. The hosts were so kind and helpful. It was clear they loved sharing their beautiful home with us. The kitchen has everything you need to cook wonderful meals. And upon our arrival after a long journey we were so happy to see a bottle of wine, a couple cold beers and some local cheese and meats. Also amazing coffee. There is a modern washer and dryer that work so well. All appliances are top notch. And the air conditioning made sleeping after a long day so comfortable. The home is in the tiny village of Bacva but is close to Porec, Roving and Pula and Motovun. There are many great restaurants and wineries close by. This was the perfect holiday. Many thanks to Hope and Vela.

Fantastic accommodation - fantastic holiday!

We couldn't have chosen better! Little Owl Estate is one of the most beautiful accommodations we have ever stayed in: spotlessly clean, very well equipped (both inside and outside), spacious rooms, beautifully landscaped garden with a great view and a wonderful pool, which our children - and the adults as well ;-) - used extensively. The accommodation's great facilities are worth highlighting: In addition to the things described in the list, there were lots of little things available, such as pool towels, dishwasher tablets, detergent, coffee (powder/capsules/filter), toothbrush and toothpaste, a good selection of spices and even two bags of charcoal and briquettes for the BBQ station. The two hosts Hope and Vela are wonderful, helpful hosts. Contact with them was super nice from the start and queries were answered immediately. They were totally flexible with the check-in and check-out times and even got extra pool equipment and toys for our children. With thoughtful little things like a welcome basket with local delicacies and a selection of cold drinks in the fridge, they made sure we felt at home straight away. As we left, the two even brought us breakfast treats. All in all, our expectations were more than met. We really enjoyed our 8 day stay and had a fantastic time at Little Owl Estate.

Hello! I'm Hope, and together with my husband Vela, we manage Little Owl Estate.

Our love for Istria blossomed in unique ways. While Vela adored the coast from his childhood summers basking in the sun and waves, I only got to experience Istria in 2021. However, when I finally did, I instantly fell in love with the place. Living our dream, we relocated here and are delighted to share the Adriatic's charm with our guests.

Little Owl Estate began as a traditional Istrian stone house and barn that had been in ruins before 2007. In 2008, a couple took on the extensive project of completely renovating and modernizing the villa while preserving the charm and structure of the original building.

When we discovered the property, we recognized its full potential and dedicated ourselves to preserving the original Istrian wood and stone elements, incorporating modern touches to establish a welcoming, warm, and cozy ambiance.
