Rockfish Valley sträcker sig från Afton till Horseshoe Mountain och Brent's Gap. Det är 17 miles. Spektakulära 360 panoramautsikt över bergen i tre Ridge, Black Rock, Horseshoe Mountains och Blue Ridge. Oförglömliga soluppgången, solnedgång, och månen stiger, stora natthimlen och Vintergatan. Den aktiva gården inkluderar Black Angus kor, ryktbarhet LILLY åsnan, och två miniatyr sicilianska åsnor. Caromont getter, Scotish Blackface får och höns i säsong.

Lite historia
Älgens Berg är en tidig 19th Century registrerade historiskt landmärke gård och bostad. Vid ett tillfälle gården var 22.000 tunnland och inkluderade Big Survey idag kallas Wintergreen. Gården Chef House ligger tvärs över vägen från ELK HILL är en del av Rockfish Valley Farm. Den byggdes 1945 och utvidgades på 1970-talet. Det konstruerades av Arthur T Ewing Jr äldsta sonen av en T Ewing som tog 6 barn med sin fru Nannie Noble Coleman Ewing på Älgens Berg. Arthur Ewing lyckades över 10.000 äppelträd på Älgens Berg och senare körde en operation köttdjur. Huset såldes senare till Uel Gardner, den första snön tillverkare på Winter. UEL var också känd för sin flock bältade Galloway nötkreatur som betade gården. År 1993 sålde Uel och Sandy Gardner gården till Holcomb s som körde en ekologisk gård. De sålde gården 2005 till de nuvarande ägarna, Betsy och Peter Agelasto. År 2005 ägaren sätta gården i bevarande servitut och skapade vandring och fågelskådning spår.

Winery Weekend

The views from the property are amazing and the location is perfect if you enjoy wineries and hiking as much as we do! The house is a little bit older and has some old house quirks but everything was clean and functional so no complaints.

spacious guest house on 151

we really enjoyed our stay at the guest house! the living area is spacious and would be fine for a small group to hang out. house had everything we needed, it was well stocked with amenities and extra blankets, pillows, etc. very cozy and comfortable, great mountain view and excellent porches (back and front!). hosts are super nice and helpful. it was only two of us but really 5-6 people would stay pretty comfortably there if you’re close/family. the check out process is a pretty basic “clean up after yourself” list.

Fall mountain getaway

Sweet little cottage in a perfect location. Close to many breweries! Cozy, but definitely not cramped!! Owners were so helpful with suggestions for restaurants and local sites. Would definitely recommend!

Location Location Location

While right off 151 Hwy, the home was far enough off back to feel like you were in the country. The home was well stocked. There was good space all around. A nice easy hike was right in the back field. We had a few flying guests to greet us but Peter was quick to come to the rescue. The location was perfect, no driving over the mountains and through the woods to get back to the home after visiting the wineries and breweries.

Hubby and I love Bold Rock and Devils Backbone, the home is a rocks throw from either. We loved the home and found it very peaceful. We will stay here again. Plenty of rooms for a large group.

Weekends stay at the farm

The guest house is rustic, comfortable and well stocked with plenty of cook ware etc. We really enjoyed the view of the mountains, cows and donkeys from the back deck. The location was great, near the Saturday Farmers Market, Bold Rock and Basic Necessities, where we had a wonderful Sunday brunch. We were able to visit Hazy Mountain Winery, Mountain Vine Vineyards and Lovingston. We really enjoyed talking to both Peter and Betsy!! We loved hearing about the farm and their ties to Norfolk and surrounding areas. We are definitely interested in returning for a future stay. We didn’t receive instructions through VRBO for how to access the guest house, but we were able to figure it out.

Great location

Owner is super responsive, bed linen is so nice, kitchen is fully stocked. We enjoyed the outdoors, especially the bird watching. This property is the ideal location for a visit to wineries, breweries, Wintergreen, etc. Thank you for a great weekend.

Last minute get away

We loved our stay here! The house was just what we needed, and the kitchen was well stocked. We came for skiing, which it's in a perfect location to quickly get up to the slopes. The host was friendly, and even stopped by to make sure everything was good. We loved waking up in the morning to the beautiful views and visiting the donkeys! We would definitely stay again.

Wonderful experience

Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The house is very comfortable and Peter is the perfect host. The owners have been very involved in maintaining the valley and it shows. The location is great. We had easy access to wintergreen for a day of skiing. Devils backbone is just a few minutes away. Amazing hiking trails leave right from the property. The donkeys and cows were an added bonus. The house itself is very charming. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked. We will definitely be back.

Fun New Years in Nellysford

Wonderful property close to all the best thing about Nellysford - for us, that’s family. But love that this house is literally right next door to Bold Rock Cidery and one of our favorite hiking trails! Such a cute, clean house - and the farm animals are an added bonus. Can’t wait to return for another family weekend!
