The house is beautiful. The downstairs toilet was broken and smelled. The grill was gross and rusty. But they brought us a brand new one.

Property was amazing. Only a few hiccups to include no batteries in some of the remotes, grill was dirty and there was no brush to clean it. The pipes under the sink began leaking so a plumber had to be called out. Luckily my brother is a maintenance specialist and was able to save the day.

A great house. Driveway is scary unless you are a mountain goat. I can't imagine getting in and out in a snowy winter. Too many scattered and unlabeled remotes. TV Channel selection seemed to be whatever was on Samsung Plus. Some doors missing lock pieces. Arrangement for trash disposal was awkward, MPOA needs to work on something better.

Big Timber Lodge is a very nice large house. Our stay was marred by a lengthy series of irritating minor problems: a filthy grill, leaky refrigerator, no directions on how to use the home theater and tv sets, no chalk for the pool table, no conditioner in the main bedroom shower, and more. The owners were more or less responsive, but this is a poorly managed property. Considering the price charged for it, most 3 star hotels are a better value.

Big Timber Lodge was a wonderful setting for our family reunion. We enjoyed many hours just hanging out in the beautiful great room and taking further time to relax in the hot tub. We also loved antiquing, hiking, and the local brewery scene. Interactions with the hosts were quick and easy. We especially appreciated the clear and accurate guidance for accessing and taking greatest advantage of the property and setting.

Positives1. Excellent location 2. Property is reasonably well maintained 3. Enjoyed Theater 4. Sufficient for 16 people. 5. Owner was very and responsive when we requested additional items.6. Nice view7. Nice and huge patio w hot tubHere are room for improvements Must be done1. Drive way has 2 risky pot holes. Must be fixed ASAP 2. Drive way slope is very steep and our 7 passenger van was stuck . Drive way must be redone. Until it not done, we would not recommend this facility as specially for vehicles larger then car.3. Should be providing extra towels, trash bags, hand soap, kitchen cleaning supplies from beginning.4. We are paying for cleaning fee, we should not be expected to take trash bags to other facilities.We will love to recommend these facilities to others, Provided Must items are addressed.

The home itself is beautiful and it looks similar to the pictures you see on the listing. Unfortunately, this is where the good news ends. To simply put it, it appears to be well neglected. The grill had so much residue and fat, turning it on would have been a fire hazard. The washer was full of mold, even a deep clean didn’t do the trick, the picture you will see is after the cleaning. There were blood stains on one of the curtains. The crib had stains as well and the home overall wasn’t very clean. To make matters worse, the hosts were very poor at communicating. During our 4 day stay, I began a conversation regarding a missing bathroom and shower which I suspected was behind a locked door in the basement. They would respond 24 hours later and in some cases not read my entire question and not respond at all. As a result, I said I suspect the missing bathroom is behind a closed door because I never found out! Based on the way they respond to questions, I think a 2 month stay might be mandatory to give them enough time. I am kidding of course but what is no joke is that the most recent reviews echo similar complaints. Maybe the hosts treat the reviews the same way they treat messages and not read them entirely? I don’t know. What I do know is they obviously did not care to address any of these issues as they are still very much present. It is very unfortunate because such a beautiful home deserves better treatment. Hopefully they will read this entire review and agree!

Great for family stay

My siblings and cousins stayed for a long weekend. The house has tons of rooms and bathrooms for a party of 22. The kitchen with two stoves worked perfectly. Would definitely consider staying here again.

Gorgeous home

The house was beautiful - We spent a lot of time on the decks and enjoyed the theatre and hot tub as well. The property owner quickly responded to all inquiries. The local restaurants were good and it was easy to get to Shenandoah National Park. We would definitely rent this home again.

Me and 9 members of my family stayed comfortable, the parking was very tight for 4 vehicles, we had a few issues but they were taken care of the same day or by the next day. We did have to do a little cleaning when we got there as well, but we enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, the movie theater and all the activities in the resort

Wonderful House

Gorgeous house! The house was huge with ample space. We had 13 adults and 3 kids and there was still so much space. The house has many lounge areas, balconies and a huge deck. The house was very clean! Our group really enjoyed our stay at the property.

Excellent outdoor area

Outdoor area was perfect for the family. Tree frogs around the pond/waterfall kept the kids entertained. A ton of light switches in the house but everything is labeled so it was easy to figure out.

Quite & Restful

Spring was a nice time to visit Big Timber with the large back deck. We used the fire tables and outdoor kitchen hot tub. We had all eight bedrooms full, but plenty of space for everyone to be together and also find a spot for quite reflection. Even with extra friends stopping in for a little party, we had plenty of space.

Winter fun with friends

We enjoyed a snowy long weekend skiing and being together as friends. We got to experience a pretty significant snowstorm and the property management was very quick to ensure the roads and driveway were plowed and treated promptly. We also had a broken dishwasher that was repaired within 2 hours of making contact!! Very good experience!

Family Celebration

Ample room for a large group. The patio was beautiful and we spent most of our time outside. If you plan to be outside and enjoy a firepit, I would ask for extra gas tanks. You will need to bring cups for coffee, as there are only a few provided and they are not in the best shape. There are no serving dishes, so bring your own (bowls/platters).

Wonderful place for large family

My family of 22 (5 children, 5 spouses, 10 grandchildren, and 2 grandparents) stayed here to celebrate Thanksgiving and Pops' 75th birthday. The house was big enough that we all felt comfortable and not squeezed in. We had a fantastic time and will plan another get-together next year in possible at this place. The only complaint was that the communication between myself and the owners was not timely or non existent. I sent several message with questions that were not answered for several days or not at all. Maybe it was the holidays but the response level certainly can be better.

Reunion in the mountains

We were a group of brothers sisters and spouses celebrating an annual reunion age ranging from 77 to 57. There were 13 of us and the space was very adequate. The kitchen and dining area was great as it allowed for all of us to sit together. We did enjoy the theater. . The outdoor grilling area and hot tub was wonderful. We did have some issues with the code, not working on the doors so we had to go around the house until we found one that worked. There were many things to fill the rainy days, some of our group enjoyed the mystery escape room located in the area. We made several trips to Shenandoah national Park and enjoy the scenery and some hiking. I would like to add that even though they say many things are not there this place was well equipped with dishwasher soap, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc. All in all our group had a wonderful time.

Gorgeous and Spacious

This is a lovely mountain home and very spacious. We were in the area for a wedding and needed space for lots of family to be together and yet have plenty of privacy and this home worked well for us. I think it had been a while since the last time it was rented and we gave the owners some suggestions but nothing that impeded our enjoyment. This custom home has had some modifications to sleep lots of folks. It would be helpful to know that one porch converted to a bedroom does not have a bathroom and another porch that was converted has an exterior entrance only. There is so much to do in the area. We stayed a few extra days and our adult kids had a great day fly fishing while we took our granddaughter to the petting farm. We enjoyed hiking and a wonderful meal on the deck by the waterfall. Read carefully what they do and don’t provide so you bring all you need with you.
