We enjoyed the authentic house a lot. The mansion is located on a very large plot on top of the mountain with a first class view on Seillans with a lot of trees to cover you from the sun and to profit from a breeze. For real refreshment the large swimmingpool is excellent.

We have been coming to this lovely vacation villa for 17 years. The location is exactly right - tucked away in sweet French village, close enough to the Côte d’Azur for day trips. We love the authenticity of the home with thick stone walls to keep the house cool on the warmest days.

Holiday house with great character

The house felt like a home from home in a beautiful setting. It had the feel of a much loved home. A retreat from modern life. We spent most of our time on the stunning terrace. Beautiful. Authentic.

This farmhouse is a very special place. It is wonderfully authentic with stunning views of the pretty village of Seillans. The rooms have an simple and eclectic feel with unique furnishing that hint to the homes artistic owners past. You arrive in the picturesque village of Seillans the drive up to the home through a mature Olive grove. The home is set in a large garden with a good sized pool that enjoys wonderful views of the village. The whole family loved our stay here where we were transported back in time to an elegant restful place.

Relaxation Galore!

My friends and I stayed here for a week in August 2023 and it was truly superb! The pool and overall ambiance of the home and grounds make for a relaxing and rejuvenating holiday. Quickly Shay's home felt like our home which was lovely. Shay and her property manager, Faye, were very attentive and eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We hope to be back!

Speedy, warm and honest responses to any questions from the property owner and housekeeper - our holiday "family".A dream private retreat for those wishing for a true rustic experience of The Var.The Farmhouse and decor are all in keeping with the authentic style of the area.Breathtaking views of the medieval village of Seillans and mountainous nature from the house and grounds.Immaculate large pool hidden in the grounds a short distance away from the house.A very well equipped kitchen and pantry area, separate large dining room, large comfortable bedrooms, beautiful outdoor dining and sunbathing/seating areas dotted around the grounds - our favourite place to eat was under the vine and wisteria covered veranda. A spacious comfortable lounge with a TV connected to the wifi, books and board games.A downstairs toilet and sink.A laundry room with washing machine in what felt like a hidden cave!Clean comfortable bedding, towels, blankets and cushions.A short walk to a shop for fresh bread, local produce and everyday basics then into ancient Seillans.1 hour drive from Nice airport, 15-20 min drive from Callian and it's restaurants and lake for swimming, water activities and other villages and supermarkets. We felt safe and secure in the Farmhouse with the ornate wrought iron window furnishings and pull down see through mosquito blinds when the windows were open.We did not want to leave the magic of Le Maison de Vieux Moulin and are already wishing to return.

Wonderful stay -- to be repeated!

This review is long overdue but although our stay at this lovely villa was in August, we are still reveling in the memories of our time at this wonderful house in Seillans. The house is large and most comfortable, with fantastic views of the town of Seillans from the shaded front patio. The location, a short walk to the centre of the village, meant that we could leave the car at home. From the local pizza place, to the coffee and croissants at Bar Charlot to the gorgeous Gloire de Mon Pere restaurant, every meal we had in town was fantastic. We enjoyed the small shops in Seillans and I even got the best haircut of my life at Salon Carre Noir. Day trip possibilities abound, but we most enjoyed staying in Seillans with the occasional outing to the market in neighboring Fayence. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the kitchen is very well equipped and we even attempted to bake our own brioche! The owner is extremely helpful and available by email and tel literally 24/7 when i couldn't figure out how to light the stove, which was much appreciated! Can't rave enough!

We loved our stay in this beautiful old house. It really feels like you're staying in a proper family home, not just a holiday home. There are works of art around the house and outside - some created by the original owner. It's very well equipped if you want to cook and enjoy dinner on the front terrace in the evening. The view looking out to Seillans is incredible. The living room is comfortably furnished and has a large internet connected TV. Upstairs, the rooms are individually furnished with very comfortable beds. Be aware, there in no air con, but fans are provided, which you will definitely need if staying during the summer peak. The pool is large and kept very clean and offers a stunning view towards Seillans.Seillans is a 15-20 walk and offers several good restaurants. It's a short 5-10 minute walk to a small supermarket that has everything you need. Larger supermarkets are a 10 minute drive away. We would love to return one day.

We have had an excellent holiday here. Beautiful views into Seillans. The house was very clean, comfortable and well-equipped. The pool was great. The house is very convenient for walking into the town and as a base to visit the coast. Faye, the property manager, was lovely and very helpful. We look forward to visiting again in the future.

Thank you for your honest & detailed house review. I'm very sorry that there were electrical issues during your stay - we were unable to visit the house since early 2020 due to Covid restrictions and were not aware of the severity of the problems. We had the ground floor of the house rewired in June 2020 after learning of an electric overload problem but obviously this did not solve the situation. After our recent return to the house, we believe we have now identified the problem: the new pool pump & the washing (dish + clothes) machines cannot operate simultaneously and we'll fix this right away. In addition, we have just completely redecorated the living room with new armchairs & couch & tables for comfort & to refresh the house decor a little. Apologies that we could not get this all done the previous winter as we had hoped to do.

Peaceful charm with pool and a stunning view

My girlfriend and I stayed in this beautiful old house for a week and had a wonderful time. The terrace overlooking the village is a spectacular place for evening meals, and the pool is perfect during the day time. The house is cool inside and the kitchen extremely well equipped. Seillans is the perfect summer hideaway with two exceptional restaurants within walking distance of the house, and several others a short drive away. All in all an ideal Provencal holiday!

An Idyllic Location

My partner and I just spent two weeks at the Vieux Moulin and we had a lovely romantic getaway. It is secluded, on a large property with olive trees and a pool, yet a short walk to the charming village of Seillans. Our favorite memory will be of dining on the terrace with a wonderful view of the village. We used it as a base to visit many nearby villages and towns in Provence and the Riviera - some with world-class museums. I highly recommend it!

Lovely house in the Provence you imagine

My family had a wonderful two weeks at La Maison. We had as many as 5 adults and 5 kids there at times, and the house comfortably accommodated all of us. It never felt the least bit crowded. The house is a charming, old, authentic place surrounded by olive trees and a pleasant, short walk to Seillans. Each bedroom is bright and spacious (there are effectively 5 bedrooms, though one can only be reached through another). The thick stone walls keep the house cool even on hot days. We ate for the most part on the wisteria-shaded porch, enjoying the spectacular view of Seillans in the distance. In the early evenings, we often walked to the village and picked apples and figs for the kids from a neighbor's trees that reached into the road. Seillans itself is the prettiest village in the region. Mons, Bargemon, Fayence, Tourettes, St. Cezaire, St. Paul, Bagnols-en-Foret, all a short drive away, are charming, but Seillans stands out. As for logistics, the owner and the couple who work as local caretakers are unfailingly pleasant and a delight to work with. Highly recommend.

Happy Family, Glorious Surroundings, Wonderful Week

This was my third visit to La Maison du Vieux Moulin, all be it separated by 15 years ! This year I was accompanied by children and grandchildren and we all had a happy experience. The property and the village is as beautiful as I remembered;it did not disappoint. The house is spacious and comfortable, cool even in the heat and there was always enough hot water for the six of us. The kitchen has been modernized since my last visit and it is well equipped and functions well. The pool was enjoyed by all of us-especially the children. We ate most meals outside, under the wisteria arbor facing the breathtaking view of Seillans, ever changing with the light. A truly magical place.

Comfortable family house

This is a charming, relaxed, family house in a beautiful setting. The view over Seillans is magnificent and being able to walk there to several excellent restaurants was perfect. The house itself shows its age which is as we expected. It is also up a narrow, steep drive which, because the car hire firm had upgrade us to a large people carrier, was a little awkward to navigate. We enjoyed our holiday here very much.
