Originally from Brighton, we moved to South West France over twenty years ago and have lived in the village just along from La Papaire ever since. We fell in love with the property when strolling and cycling along the marais, and felt incredibly lucky to spot a tiny advert for it when it came up for sale. Since we bought it, we found out that several other people in the village would also have loved to purchase our quaint little house, so we certainly feel very fortunate that we can open its doors for you to call it "home" for your vacation.

La Papaire sits on its own, on a slightly elevated spot, surrounded by fields on three sides, and facing the river on the other. The tiny house is surrounded by an extensive garden, complete with a patio seating area, a small dining area, and lots of open space under the trees for meditating, practicing yoga, or just sitting back and reading a book or painting. It truly is an idyllic setting and the perfect place to switch off from the stresses of modern life.
Vad som gör detta boende unikt
La Papaire is an entirely unique property in the area, we can trace its origins back to the 1930s when it was built by hand by the couple who lived in it until we took it over around fifteen years ago. While it is a tiny house, its proportions and high ceilings in the kitchen and bedroom give it an airy and luxurious feel.
The garden surrounding the property is subject to a number of wildlife-related protection orders because we have resident hares, hoopoe, and a variety of beautifully colorful butterflies who also call La Papaire home. Just beyond the drive, you will find a stream that often plays host to little crayfish, coypus, and even the odd kingfisher.
If you want to venture beyond the peaceful surrounds of the house thee are endless beautiful walks and cycling routes in the area, and of course, many day trips just on your doorstep with Saint Jean d'Angely, Saintes, Saint Savinien, Cognac, La Rochelle, and Angoulême all within a short drive.
